Harness B Connections

Interface Box

The interface box features a Reset Button and an [LED indicator].

  1. From the 3.5mm adapter, tie the Brown and Brown/White wires together and tape up or use a connector.
  2. Connect the 3.5mm adapter to the 3.5mm jack from the vehicle harness.

Important Note for Harness B

When using Harness B, you must cut the Green/Orange wire in the 20-pin harness, unless your vehicle is a Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Vue. Pin 5 is located on the bottom row of the 20-pin connector. Start at the yellow wire on the bottom row and count five wires while moving left.

[Diagram Description: A 20-pin connector is shown. Pin 5, the Green/Orange wire, is marked with a red 'X' indicating it should be cut. Two yellow wires are also indicated on the bottom row.]

Interface Harness to Aftermarket Radio Harness (Harness B)

* Only connect the Orange wire labeled IFACE ILL to the illumination wire! The unlabeled Orange wire will only be used if one of the Orange wires on the main harnesses are available on the factory side.

Aftermarket Radio Connections

The aftermarket radio may have ports for AUX-IN, Front speakers, Rear speakers, Subwoofer (Sub), and Steering Wheel Control (SWC).

3.5mm Adapter (for radios with a wire for SWC)

* After programming, assign SWC buttons within radio menu.

Programming

Step 1: Prepare Vehicle

Open the driver's door and keep it open during the programming process. Turn the ignition on.

[Ignition states: ACC ON, START]

Step 2: Connect Harnesses

Connect the appropriate GM29-SWC harness to the GM29-SWC interface and then to the vehicle connectors that were removed from the factory radio. As soon as you plug the vehicle connectors into the vehicle's harness, move to step 3. Programming the interface is a time-sensitive process.

Step 3: Initiate Programming

Locate the right-hand Volume Up button on the steering wheel.

[Steering wheel button icon: Volume Up]

Step 4: Radio Identification

The [LED indicator] will flash Green & Red while the interface programs the radio to the steering wheel controls. Once programmed, the [LED indicator] will go out, then produce a pattern which will identify the radio type installed.

[LED indicator: Green & Red flashing, then Green or Red flashing]

Step 5: Vehicle Programming

The [LED indicator] will go out, then once again quickly flash Green & Red while the interface programs itself to the vehicle. Once programmed, the [LED indicator] will go out again, then turn solid Green.

[LED indicator: Green & Red flashing, then Green LED]

Step 6: Harness B Specific Button Sequence

Harness B only: Press the following buttons on the steering wheel in the exact sequence shown. For each button pressed, the [LED indicator] will turn off momentarily then back on. If a button is not present, press Volume Up to skip that button. The [LED indicator] will turn solid Green after the last button has been pressed.

[Steering wheel button icons: Volume Up, Seek Up, PTT/Mute]

Step 7: Finalize Programming

Turn the ignition off, then back on.

[Ignition states: ACC ON, START]

Step 8: Test Installation

Test all functions of the installation for proper operation.

Troubleshooting

If the [LED indicator] shows Solid Green for Pass (indicating everything programmed correctly), yet the steering wheel controls don't work, make sure that the 3.5mm jack is plugged in, and plugged into the correct jack in the radio. Once corrected, press the reset button, then program again.

If the interface fails to function, press and release the reset button. The reset button can be found to the right of the 20-pin connector inside the green plastic housing. Using a small pointed tool, press the blue button for 2 seconds and release. The [LED indicator] will start flashing green and red; immediately proceed to step 3.
