GE Profile™ PTD60GBSR/BPR Gas Dryer
7.4 cu. ft. Capacity Aluminized Alloy Drum Gas Dryer with Sanitize Cycle and Sensor Dry
Dimensions and Installation Information
General Installation
Exhaust Option: The dryer can exhaust via the rear, left, or bottom. It ships exhausted to the rear, with alternate knockouts supplied.
Gas Requirements: Requires an individual, properly-grounded branch circuit with a three-prong grounding-type receptacle, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. The dryer has an electric rating of 120V, 60Hz, 7A and a gas rating of 22,000 BTU/HR. It is factory-equipped for natural gas and tested for LP gas. LP gas supply requires a conversion kit, which should be installed by a qualified gas technician. Refer to dryer ducting information for proper installation.
Electrical Rating: 120V, 60Hz, 7A.
Gas Rating: 22,000 BTU/HR.
Outlet Location Note: The dryer wall outlet must be located within 36 inches of the service cord entry and accessible when the dryer is mounted in position.
Installation Information: For complete details, consult the installation instructions packed with your dryer.
Special Installation Requirements
Alcove or Closet Installation:
- Approval for alcove or closet installation is indicated on a label on the dryer back.
- The dryer MUST be exhausted to the outside.
- Minimum clearances: 0" on either side; 1" front, top, and rear.
- Closet doors must be louvered or otherwise ventilated, providing a minimum of 60 sq. in. of open area equally distributed. If a washer and dryer are in the same closet, doors must provide a minimum of 120 sq. in. of open area.
- No other fuel-burning appliance shall be installed in the same closet with a gas dryer.
Bathroom or Bedroom Installation:
- The dryer MUST be exhausted to the outdoors.
- Installation must conform to local codes, or in their absence, the National Electric Code and National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223 for gas dryers.
Minimum Clearances (Other than Alcove or Closet):
- Minimum clearances to combustible surfaces: 0" on both sides; 1" to the rear.
Dryer Exhausting Information
Use metal duct only for vertical and horizontal ducting.
Exhaust Length Calculation:
- Determine the number of 90° turns needed. Add one turn if exhausting to the side or bottom.
- The maximum length of 4" rigid duct (aluminum or galvanized) is shown in the table. Turns of 45° or less can be ignored. Two 45° turns count as one 90° elbow. A turn over 45° counts as one 90° elbow.
Dryers must be exhausted to the outside.
CAUTION: For personal safety, do not terminate exhaust into a chimney, under an enclosed house floor (crawl space), or into an attic, as accumulated lint can create a fire hazard or moisture can cause damage. Never terminate exhaust into a common duct or plenum with a kitchen exhaust, as the combination of lint and grease can create a fire hazard.
Exhaust ducts should terminate in a dampered wall cap to prevent back drafts and bird nesting. The wall cap must be located at least 12" above the ground or any other obstruction, with the opening pointed down.
Dryer Exhausting - Best Performance Table
Number of 90° turns | Max Length of 4" Dia. Rigid Metal Duct (ft.) | Exhaust Hood Type (A / B) |
---|---|---|
0 | 120 (A) / 90 (B) | 4" (A) / 2-1/2" (B) opening |
1 | 100 (A) / 75 (B) | |
2 | 85 (A) / 65 (B) | |
3 | 70 (A) / 55 (B) | |
4 | 60 (A) / 45 (B) | |
5 | 55 (A) / 35 (B) |
Note: For every extra 90° elbow, reduce the allowable vent system length by 10 ft. Two 45° elbows equal one 90° elbow. Side exhaust installations require adding one 90° elbow to the chart calculation. Total vent system length includes all straight portions and elbows, including the transition duct.
