Chapter 2: BIOS Setup
Entering the BIOS Setup
To access the BIOS Setup program, press the <Delete> key during POST (Power-On Self-Test) when the power is turned on. When the power is off, the motherboard battery supplies power to the CMOS to retain configuration values.
Startup Screen
The following startup logo screen will appear when the computer boots.
Function Keys:
- <DEL>: BIOS SETUP\Q-FLASH
Press the <Delete> key to enter BIOS Setup or access the Q-Flash utility within BIOS Setup. - <F12>: BOOT MENU
The Boot Menu allows you to set the first boot device without entering BIOS Setup. Use the arrow keys (⬆️ or ⬇️) to select a device and press <Enter> to accept. The system will boot from the selected device immediately. Note: This setting is temporary; the boot order reverts to BIOS Setup settings after a restart. - <END>: Q-FLASH
Press the <End> key to access the Q-Flash utility directly without entering BIOS Setup first.
Important Notes on BIOS:
⚠️ Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, it is recommended not to flash the BIOS unless you encounter problems with the current version. Proceed with caution.
- Inadequate BIOS flashing may result in system malfunction.
- It is recommended not to alter default settings unless necessary to prevent system instability or unexpected results. Incorrectly altered settings may lead to boot failure. If this occurs, clear CMOS values and reset to default settings (refer to the "Load Optimized Defaults" section).
Chapter 3: Appendix
3-1 Using Q-Flash Plus
A. Before You Begin:
- Download the latest compressed BIOS update file matching your product model from GIGABYTE's website.
- Uncompress the BIOS file, save it to your USB flash drive, and rename it to GIGABYTE.bin. Note: The USB flash drive must be formatted with FAT32/16 and be a USB 2.0 drive.
- Connect the power cables to the 12V power connector and the main power connector.
- Turn on the power supply before connecting the USB flash drive to the Q-Flash Plus port on the back panel.
B. Using Q-Flash Plus:
Press the Q-Flash Plus button. The system will automatically search for the BIOS file on the USB flash drive connected to the Q-Flash Plus port. The QFLED will flash during the matching and flashing process. Wait for 6-8 minutes; the LEDs will stop flashing when BIOS flashing is complete.
- If updating the BIOS manually, ensure the system is powered off (S5 shutdown state).
- If your motherboard has a BIOS switch and an SB switch, reset them to their default settings (Default for BIOS switch: Boot from main BIOS; Default for SB switch: Dual BIOS).
- The DualBIOS™ feature will update the backup BIOS after the main BIOS is flashed and the system restarts. The system will then reboot and boot from the main BIOS.
3-2 Installing the Operating System
The operating system depends on the purchase specifications and may include Windows 11 or no OS.
- For users in the United States and Canada, a verification code is attached to the upper left corner of the case's back panel. This code is required for product repair. Keep it safe and consider taking a backup photo.
- Ensure the system is connected to the internet before installation.
If an operating system is included:
Follow the on-case instructions: remove protective materials, connect power and interface devices, then press the power button to enter the Windows Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) screen. Log in with your Microsoft account (or create one). Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the basic OOBE setup, which will then lead to the Windows 11 desktop.
A. Install the Motherboard Drivers:
After OS installation, a dialog box may appear asking to install motherboard drivers and GIGABYTE applications via GIGABYTE Control Center (GCC). Click "Install". (Ensure "Gigabyte Utilities Downloader Configuration" is set to "Enabled" in BIOS Setup.)
When the EULA appears, press <Accept> to install GCC. On the GIGABYTE CONTROL CENTER screen, select desired drivers and applications, then click "Install".
B. Install the Graphics Card Drivers:
Download graphics card drivers and utilities from GIGABYTE's website.
System Recovery (Restore Your Operating System)
If the operating system encounters issues, a hidden partition on the storage contains a full backup image to restore the system to factory default settings.
⚠️Important Notes:
- If the storage is switched or the partition is deleted, recovery will not be available, and a service will be needed.
- The recovery function is only available on devices with a preinstalled OS. Devices with EFI SHELL do not have this function.
Launch System Recovery:
The system recovery feature is preinstalled. The option menu allows launching the Windows recovery tool to reinstall the OS to factory default. Follow these steps:
- Step 1: Turn off and restart the system.
- Step 2: During startup, press and hold the F9 key to launch the recovery tool.
- Step 3: Choose "Troubleshoot" to enter recovery settings (or "Continue" to exit and back up files).
System Recovery Options:
- Reset this PC: Allows keeping or removing files before reinstalling Windows.
- Smart Recovery: Restores PC settings to factory defaults. Caution: All personal data and files will be lost.
- Step 4: The recovery will activate. Click "Yes" to start.
⚠️ Once "Recovery" is selected, personal data and files will be deleted as the OS resets to factory defaults. A progress bar will indicate the process; do not turn off the power.
After recovery completion, click "Shutdown".
Step 5: Advanced Options
- System Restore: Use a restore point to restore Windows.
- System Image Recovery: Recover Windows using a specific system image file.
