Plastic Pipe Through Concrete Floor/Wall or Block Wall Assembly

F-RATING = 2-HR. T-RATING = 1-HR.

Assembly Description

This document details the assembly for a plastic pipe passing through a concrete floor/wall or block wall, providing a 2-hour F-rating and a 1-hour T-rating.

Components and Materials

Concrete Floor or Wall Assembly (2-HR. Fire-Rating): Can be lightweight or normal weight concrete (minimum 2-1/2" thick) or any UL classified concrete block wall.
Penetrating Item: Maximum 4" nominal diameter plastic pipe, including PVC (cellular or solid core), CPVC (closed piping system only), ABS (cellular or solid core), or FRPP.
Mineral Wool: Minimum 2" thickness with a minimum 4 pcf density, tightly packed and recessed to accommodate sealant.
Hilti FS-ONE MAX or FS-ONE Intumescent Firestop Sealant: Minimum 1/2" depth.
Sheet Metal Cover Plate: Minimum 28 GA. steel, consisting of two halves with a minimum 2" overlap at the seam. Sized to overlap the assembly by a minimum of 1-1/2". The overall dimensions should not exceed the opening diameter plus 4". The inside diameter should be a maximum of 1/4" larger than the pipe's outside diameter. The cover plate is secured to the underside of the concrete floor or both sides of the wall using specified fasteners.
Hilti CP 643N Firestop Collar: Equipped with fastening hooks.
Fastening Hooks: Secured to the metal cover plate with self-tapping steel screws and steel washers, and to the concrete floor or wall using specified anchors or fasteners.

Notes

Maximum diameter of opening: 8".
Annular space: Minimum 0", maximum 3-1/2".
Piping system type: Closed or vented. PVC, ABS, FRPP must be SCH 40; CPVC must be SDR 13.5.
Hilti CP 643N Firestop Collars, sheet metal cover plate, and Hilti FS-ONE MAX or FS-ONE Intumescent Firestop Sealant are required on both sides of a wall.
