Getting Started
Step 1
Before first use, wash the Inner Pot, Lid, and Rubber Gasket with warm, soapy water. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. To ensure the Rubber Gasket fits correctly, fill the Inner Pot about 2/3 full with water. Place the Lid on the cooker with the Handle and Recessed Valve (Fig. A) pointing to the "10:00 o'clock" position. Rotate the Lid counter-clockwise until it clicks. Then, rotate the Pressure Valve to the Lock position and run the CANNING mode for 10 minutes.
Step 2
When the cycle is complete, use tongs or another kitchen tool to carefully rotate the Pressure Valve to the Open position (pictured in Fig. B), allowing all pressure to escape. Let the appliance cool to room temperature. Pour out the water, rinse, and towel dry the Inner Pot. The Power Pressure Cooker XL is now ready for use.
WARNING: Avoid serious injury. Never use your hand to set the Pressure Valve in the Open Position after any cooking process. Use tongs or some other kitchen tool.
Step 3
Place the Inner Pot into the unit and add ingredients for your recipe. Never load the Inner Pot above the MAX line. Rotate the Inner Pot to ensure it is seated properly. Place the Lid on the Cooker with the Handle and Recessed Valve (Fig. A) pointed to the "10:00 o'clock" position. Rotate the Lid counter-clockwise until you feel a click. Rotate the Pressure Valve to the Lock position. Follow your recipe for cook time.
HOT LID WARNING: Use the black composite handle only when opening the lid. The stainless steel parts become very hot and could burn your hands.
