Yamaha DVR-C310 Service Manual
This service manual provides detailed information for the DVR-C310, a component of the DVX-C310 and DVX-C310SW DVD Home Theater Sound Systems. For information on the NX-P300 and NX-SW300, refer to publication number 100946.
Important Notice
This manual is intended for authorized Yamaha retailers and service personnel. It assumes familiarity with basic industry service procedures. Failure to follow safety and service procedures may result in personal injury or product damage. Service should only be performed by authorized personnel. Manual distribution does not imply authorization. Specifications are subject to change without notice.
WARNING: Static discharge can damage components. Ground yourself before servicing. Turn the unit OFF during disassembly and part replacement.
To Service Personnel
Critical Components: Components marked with 'Z' require replacement with parts of identical specifications.
Leakage Current Measurement (120V Models): Verify insulation of exposed conductive surfaces after service. Use a meter with 1500 ohms shunted by 0.15μF. Leakage current must not exceed 0.5mA. Test with the AC plug in both polarities.
Chemical Content Notice: This product contains lead solder. Other components may contain chemicals identified as carcinogens or reproductive toxins by California agencies. Avoid contact with solder and components; do not place them in the mouth. Wash hands after handling.
Laser Safety Warning: The product contains a laser component that may emit invisible or visible radiation causing eye damage. Maintain a distance of over 30 cm from the laser pick-up unit during servicing. Do not stare at the beam. Avoid servicing during the laser emission period when the top cover is removed and the unit is powered on (approx. 5-10 seconds for disc detection). Laser power is factory set and should not be adjusted unless specified.
Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge
Static electricity can damage the laser diode. Use grounding precautions:
- Worktable Grounding: Place grounded conductive material on the work surface.
- Human Body Grounding: Use an anti-static wrist strap.
Optical Pickup Handling: Laser diode replacement parts are short-circuited during transport. Remove shorts after installation. Do not test the laser diode with a tester, as the tester's power supply can damage it. Handle the traverse unit gently; flexible cables may break if excessive force is applied. Do not adjust the laser power adjustment resistor.
Locale Management Information
This DVD player is designed to respond to locale management information recorded on DVD discs. If the disc's locale number does not match the player's locale number, the disc cannot be played.
The product incorporates Macrovision Corporation's copyright protection technology. Reverse engineering or disassembly is prohibited.
