Do's

Check with the manufacturer of your flooring prior to using the carpet washer.

The clean water tank should only be filled with warm water (max 40°C). Filling the clean water tank with hot or boiling water may damage your machine and invalidate your guarantee.

Store your carpet washer in a cool, dry area. Before storing, ensure all water/solution tanks and filters are thoroughly clean and dry.

Always vacuum your carpets thoroughly before using your carpet washer.

Always unplug the carpet washer before carrying out any maintenance and before connecting or disconnecting the hose/accessories.

Always keep the power cord away from the brushes whilst using your carpet washer.

Take extra care when cleaning on the stairs.

Use only CE approved 13amp extension cords; non-approved extension cords may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the extension cord as it can be a trip hazard.

Always use the carpet washer with all water/solution tanks and filters in place.

Keep all openings clear and free from debris, as this may affect the airflow/suction.

Getting Started

PLEASE READ 'LET'S TALK SAFETY' AT THE BEGINNING BEFORE USE

Before You Begin Cleaning

  • IMPORTANT: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly before washing.
  • Test for Colourfastness: Wet a white absorbent cloth with the solution. In a small hidden area of your carpet/rugs/upholstery, gently rub with the dampened cloth. Wait ten minutes and check for colour removal or bleed with white paper towel or cloth. If your carpet has more than one colour, check all colours.
  • Test Your Carpet/Rugs/Upholstery: Run the carpet washer over a small hidden area. If no pile distortion occurs, continue cleaning.
  • When using the carpet washer, basic safety precautions should always be observed.
  • IMPORTANT: Only use Vax carpet solution. Using other solutions may cause excess foaming and may invalidate your warranty.
  • IMPORTANT: The clean water tank should only be filled with warm water (max 40°C). Filling the clean water tank with hot/boiling water may damage your machine and invalidate your warranty.
  • CAUTION: This is a powerful carpet washer. Before plugging in, make sure all controls are turned off. Also, hold the carpet washer firmly when starting and during use.

Assembling Your Carpet Washer

  1. Stand the base in an upright position and lower the top section until it clicks securely onto the base.
  2. Assemble the two lower handle screws and tighten with a cross/flat head screwdriver.
  3. Slide the handle down onto the unit until it clicks securely.
  4. To secure the upper handle, screw and tighten with a cross/flat head screwdriver.

? Tip: When cleaning an entire room, move furniture out of the area to be cleaned. If the furniture is too heavy to move, place aluminium foil or wax paper under legs. This will prevent wood finishes from staining your carpet. Pin up furniture skirts and curtains.

Using Your Machine

Operating Your Carpet Washer

Your dirty water tank is fitted with a float. When the dirty water tank is full or the floorhead is not in contact with the carpet, the float will shut off the suction at the floor nozzle. You will hear the motor noise increase when this happens. Once the float is activated, empty the dirty water tank. If the dirty water tank is not full, turn off your machine and wait for the float to settle.

  1. Remove the clean water tank.
  2. Unscrew the clean water tank cap from the top of the clean water tank.
  3. Mix solution with warm water (max 40°C). Fill the clean water tank with the solution mix.
  4. Pour the required dose of carpet cleaning solution (approx. 40ml per 1.0L of water) into the clean water tank. (Note: Measuring jug is not included).
  5. Tighten the cap before returning the tank to the unit.
  6. Unwrap the power cord and plug the unit in.
  7. Turn the machine on.
  8. Recline the machine.
  9. Press the trigger to release solution.

? Tip: For best results, apply solution on the forward stroke and release the trigger to recover solution on the backward stroke.

Note: Carpets should be dry vacuumed thoroughly before washing.

Note: If the solution/clean water doesn't dispense, the clean water tank valve may be stuck. Hold the clean water tank over the sink and press the valve underneath to release.

Operating Your Pre-Treatment Wand

  1. Mix solution with warm water (max 40°C).
  2. Fill the clean water tank with the solution mix.
  3. Tighten the cap before returning the tank to the unit.
  4. Unwrap the power cord and plug the unit in.
  5. Turn the machine on.
  6. Plug the pre-treatment wand into the solution port.
  7. Spray evenly onto desired areas.

Note: Pre-treating your carpet before washing will help to remove stubborn stains. Leave pre-treatment solution to work for 10-15 minutes. Before setting the machine to wash, ensure the clean water tank is rinsed thoroughly of pre-treatment solution.

On first use, keep the button pressed down until solution is released.

Using the Wash Tool

  1. Remove the reach hose from the accessory bag.
  2. Plug the reach hose into the front of the cleaner.
  3. Plug the solution tube, from the reach hose, into the solution port.
  4. Turn the machine on.
  5. Press the trigger to release solution.
  6. Release the trigger and pull the wash tool backwards over the treated area to pick up spills.

Note: The clean water tank will need to be filled with solution and water before use.

? Tip: For best results, apply solution on the forward stroke and release the trigger to recover on the backward stroke.

Taking Care of Your Machine

Emptying and Cleaning the Dirty Water Tank

Note: Rinse out the tank with clean water and leave to air dry before storing your machine.

  1. Remove the dirty water tank.
  2. Lift the dirty water tank clips up and outward to release.
  3. Remove the dirty water tank lid. Empty dirty water over the sink. Rinse the dirty water tank and lid under water to remove debris.
  4. Allow the tank to dry. To refit, tilt the dirty water tank and line it up with the carpet washer. Push back until it clicks into place.

? Tip: During normal use, debris may accumulate inside the dirty water tank. To keep your unit functioning properly and prevent odours, it is best to rinse out your dirty water tank with fresh water after each use.

CAUTION: Always switch off and unplug the carpet washer from the electrical outlet before assembling, filling, and emptying the clean water tank, emptying the dirty water tank, or before connecting/disconnecting attachments.

Let's Talk Technical

Removing Blockages from the Brushbar

Replacing the Belt or Brushbars

  1. Turn the machine on its side and use a crosshead screwdriver to remove the eight screws.
  2. Remove the two-part belt cover from the unit. (Note: The wheel is intended to be removed with the belt cover).
  3. Pull both brushbars towards the user to remove them from the unit.
  4. Remove and dispose of the old belt.
  5. To replace the belt, slip the brushbars through the belt. (Note: Place the belt on the rounded areas of the brushbars without bristles).
  6. With the belt in place, pull and slide the brushbars into the unit, making sure the brushbar end caps are in the correct position.
  7. Place the new belt on the motor shaft. Replace the two-part belt cover and secure by replacing all screws.

  • Make sure the clean water tank is fitted securely.
  • The clean water tank valve may be stuck. Go to 'Operating your carpet washer'.
Why won't the carpet washer pick up?
  • The float in the dirty water tank may have been activated. Empty the dirty water tank, wait for the float to settle before re-starting your carpet washer.
  • Check the dual power brushes for blockages and clear.
  • The dirty water tank may not be fitted correctly; also, make sure the lid is pushed down securely.
  • Check the nozzle for blockages and clear.
Why won't the brushes spin?
  • Check the power brushes for blockages and clear.
  • Check the belt. Go to 'Replacing the belt or brushbars'.
