Starlink Mesh Install Guide
Set Up Your Starlink First
Before setting up your Starlink Mesh WiFi Router, ensure your original Starlink is fully set up and connected according to the instructions provided in the box or on support.starlink.com.

Find a Location for Mesh Nodes
To provide reliable WiFi coverage throughout your home, the connection between each Starlink Mesh WiFi Router or mesh node must be strong. Ensure your primary Starlink router (from your Starlink Kit) and mesh nodes are evenly spread out, but not excessively far from each other.
Mesh nodes perform best when placed no more than one to two rooms apart. For instance, if a room located three or more rooms away from your primary router has a weak connection, placing a mesh node in that room might result in a poor connection to the primary router. Instead, position it in a closer location, approximately halfway between the primary router and the weak area.
Larger homes will require more mesh nodes to cover the entire area effectively.
Position your router upright in an open area, avoiding placement near objects that could obstruct your signal. Elevated positions, such as on a shelf, are preferable to ground-level placement.
Diagram: Illustrates optimal placement for mesh nodes. One diagram shows a Starlink dish outdoors with sunlight, suggesting good signal reception. Another diagram shows a two-story house interior. On the first floor, a mesh node is placed on a shelf. On the second floor, another mesh node is also placed on a shelf. Both are depicted with radiating lines indicating WiFi signal.
Set up a Mesh Node
- Plug your Starlink mesh node into a power outlet.
- Open the Starlink App. Wait 1-2 minutes for a "PAIR NEW MESH NODE" notification to appear in the app.
- Click "PAIR". The node will appear as "CONNECTING" on the "Network" screen. Connection typically takes 1-2 minutes.
- Upon connection, the node will be visible on the "Network" screen in the app, displaying its signal strength.
- Repeat this process for any additional nodes.
Diagrams: Three smartphone screens are shown. The first displays "STARLINK" logo. The second shows a notification "A new node is attempting to pair with your network. Do not pair if you are not trying to set up a new node." with "DENY" and "PAIR" buttons. The third screen shows "MAIN ROUTER 2 DEVICES MESH 1 CONNECTING".
Troubleshooting
If the "PAIR NEW MESH NODE" notification does not appear in your Starlink App within approximately 2 minutes of plugging in the new node:
- Possible Cause: Too far from primary router.
A. Try moving to a closer location to your primary router to complete the pairing process.
B. Ensure you are connected to your primary Starlink router's network, not the mesh node's "STARLINK" network.
C. Consider renaming your original Starlink network to something unique to confirm you remain connected to it throughout the setup. - Possible Cause: Incorrect network connection.
A. Attempt a factory reset: power cycle your mesh node at least three times in quick succession (approximately 2-3 second intervals), then allow it to boot fully.
B. After plugging in the node, do not connect directly to its new "STARLINK" network. Stay connected to your original Starlink network and open the app. - Possible Cause: Non-standard Starlink setup.
A. Starlink mesh nodes are compatible only with the rectangular Starlink model and its corresponding WiFi router. The circular Starlink model and its router are not compatible with Starlink mesh nodes.
B. You cannot integrate a Starlink mesh router into an existing third-party mesh system.
