Starlink Gen 3 Router Setup Guide

For Standard Gen 2 Kits

Setup

  1. Ensure your Starlink is set up and connected to the internet before setting up your Gen 3 Router. Connect to your existing Starlink WiFi network from your device.
  2. For optimal performance, place your Gen 3 Router in the line of sight of your Gen 2 Router. It is recommended to have both routers in the same room.
  3. Unbox your Gen 3 Router Kit. The kit includes: Gen 3 Router, Starlink Plug, RJ45 Cover, Gen 3 Router Ethernet Cable (1.5 m / 4.92 ft), Gen 3 Router Power Cable (1.5 m / 4.92 ft), and Power Supply.

  1. Connect the Router to a power outlet using the power cable and power supply.
  2. Open the Starlink App. Wait 1-2 minutes for a "PAIR NEW MESH NODE" notification.
  3. Tap "PAIR". The node will begin connecting on the NETWORK screen. This process takes approximately 1-2 minutes.

  1. Once connected, the node will appear on the NETWORK screen in the App.
  2. Connection confirmed! The Gen 3 Router's light should be solid white. Use the Starlink App to customize settings, check your connection, and more.

WiFi Router Light Status:

Flashing White Light: Trying to connect. If no internet connection is established within 20 minutes, the light will turn red.

Solid White Light: Connected to the internet. Will turn off after 1 hour.

No Light: No power to the router.

Red Light: Not connected to the internet.

Violet Light: Router is in bypass mode. Will turn off after 1 hour. A factory reset is required to exit bypass mode.

Optional Wired Connection

To use your Gen 3 Router as the base router, an ethernet adapter and the provided ethernet cable are required. An ethernet adapter can be purchased from the Starlink shop.

  1. Set up your Gen 3 Router as shown in the diagram.

  1. In the Starlink app, bypass your Router. A factory reset is required to exit bypass mode.

This is an advanced feature that requires a Starlink Ethernet adapter and a separate Starlink or third-party router. A manual factory reset will be required to reverse this.

Connect to WiFi

  1. You are now connected! The Gen 3 Router's light should be solid white. Use the Starlink App to customize additional settings, check your connection, and more.

Using the Extra RJ45 Ports

  1. Remove the RJ45 cover.
  2. Plug your own ethernet cable into port 1 or 2. Connect the other end of your cable to your third-party hardware.

Can't Get Online?

  1. Open the Starlink App to check for alerts, outages, or obstructions.
  2. Check the WiFi router light status (see details above).
  3. Ensure all hardware and cables are securely plugged in and undamaged.
  4. Power cycle the router by unplugging it from power and plugging it back in.
  5. Factory reset the router by pressing the reset button with a paper clip.
  6. If issues persist, contact Starlink Customer Support via the app or the Support section of starlink.com.
