Prior to Installation

Important: Some options may slightly alter installation. To ensure proper installation, review the manual thoroughly and verify rough-ins before beginning any work. File this manual with the owner or maintenance personnel upon completion of installation.

Installation Instructions

  1. Remove drinking cooler access panel and shut off water supply, then actuate valve to relieve pressure.
  2. Drill a 1/2" diameter hole through the drinking cooler deck (as shown in diagram). Deburr the hole and install the provided grommet.
    • Drilling Notes:
    • Wear approved safety glasses when drilling.
    • Prior to drilling stainless steel, apply masking tape over the drilling area to protect the finish and provide a marking surface.
    • Use a short, sharp, high-speed drill bit at 400-600 RPM, applying heavy pressure. The drill must cut at all times; do not allow the drill bit to ride, as this causes work hardening. Bibb washers placed on the drill shank can help prevent marring the surface after the drill breaks through.
  3. Mark a vertical (plumb) center line on the wall, at the center of the drinking cooler deck.

Diagram Description (Page 3): Illustrates the mounting frame, horizontal mounting channels, air line inlet, filler tube, valve inlet from evaporator out tee fitting, bottle filler mounting frame, alignment notch, and water cooler reference. It notes that mounting anchors are by others and the housing is not shown for clarity.

  1. Carefully disassemble the bottle filler. Remove the top, frame, horizontal mounting channels, and disconnect the PE tubing from the fill tube.
  2. Use the frame as a template. Align the notches in the frame with the vertical center line, and place the frame on the deck. Note: The cooler should be level.
  3. Mark four mounting holes.
  4. Install the four wall anchors (by others).
  5. Align the mounting frame and horizontal mounting channels to the anchors (as shown) and attach to the wall with mounting fasteners (by others).
  6. In the drinking cooler access compartment, attach the provided "Y" strainer to the existing 3/8" OD copper inlet tube and connect the outlet of the "Y" strainer to the existing 1/4" OD evaporator inlet tube.
  7. In the drinking cooler access compartment, remove the 1/4" push-in fitting from the evaporator outlet and replace it with a 1/4" push-in tee fitting. Reconnect the PE tube from the cartridge valve assembly to the top of the tee. (See page 4 for special installation instructions when installing on bi-level drinking fountains).
  8. Remove the 18" piece of insulation from the 1/4" OD 30" PE tube. Pass the end of the 30" PE tube through the hole in the deck of the drinking cooler. Reinstall the 18" piece of insulation onto the 30" PE tube, under the deck. Connect the 30" PE tube to the side of the previously installed tee fitting from step 10.
  9. Reconnect the 24" PE tube to the fill tube.
  10. To reassemble the housing to the mounting frame assembly, engage the left side of the housing behind the horizontal mounting channels. Stretch the housing over the right end of the horizontal mounting channels, ensuring the rubber trim on the housing touches the water cooler deck. Secure the housing to the top channel with the provided #10-32 truss head screws.
  11. Reassemble and install the top with the provided #8-32 truss head screws.
  12. Turn on the water supply stop, test the unit, check for leaks, and then reinstall the access panel.

Water Tubing Connections

Note: Insulation on all water tubes is not shown; all PE water tubes are insulated.

Diagram Description (Page 4): Illustrates the water tubing connections including the pushbutton assembly, pushbutton air line, 1/4 turn shut-off valve, fill tube, drinking fountain, hole in deck, 30" PE tubing, evaporator inlet, push-in tee, evaporator outlet, "Y" strainer, valve outlet elbow with flow control, valve inlet fitting, 1/4 x 3/8 adapter, and 3/8" OD copper inlet.

Special Instructions for Bi-Level Drinking Fountains: When mounting bottle filler on a unit with no compressor, follow insert detail. Diagram shows cutting tube, installing tee, and connecting to cartridge from cold water tube from evaporator.

Pressurized Single Unit Pipe Installation (with -GF & -BF options)

Diagram Description (Page 5): Shows a diagram illustrating the installation with 13" Water Supply Tubing and 17" Water Supply Tubing connecting to the bottle filler or glass filler.

Re-Piping from Non-Pressurized to Pressurized (for -GF & -BF only)

To re-pipe a single non-pressurized unit to pressurized, you will have to move the water supply tubing around, with “NO” additional tubing needed. Before performing this task, you MUST SHUT OFF THE WATER SUPPLY, and disconnect all supply connections.

  1. Step 1: Starting with the supply line coming from the wall, connect to the inlet of the evaporator assembly. Diagram shows wall supply connection, 17" water supply tubing, and evaporator inlet connection.
  2. Step 2: From the outlet of the evaporator assembly, connect to the inlet of the cartridge assembly. Diagram shows cartridge assembly inlet connection, connection to bottle filler or glass filler, evaporator outlet connection, and a note to add a 1/4" tee for both BF or GF.
  3. Step 3: From the outlet of the cartridge assembly, connect to the bubbler. Diagram shows 13" water supply tubing, cartridge assembly outlet connection, and bubbler connection.

Push-in Fitting Installation

Note: Fittings and tube should be kept clean, bagged, and undamaged prior to installation.

To Cut Tube:

Cut 1/4" PE tubing to the required length and remove any burrs or sharp edges. Ensure that the outside diameter is free from score marks. Tube ends should be square.

Diagram Description (Page 7): Shows three illustrations related to cutting the tube: one with a cross indicating an incorrect cut (burrs/sharp edges), one showing a correct square cut, and one showing a tube with burrs.

Inserting the Tube:

  1. Firmly and fully insert the tubing end into the push-in fitting up to the tube stop, located approximately 1/2" deep. Diagram shows a push-in fitting with O-ring, tube stop, and collet.
  2. Pull on the fitted tubing to ensure it is secure. The tube should not come free from the fitting. Water test the connection assembly prior to leaving the site to ensure there are no leaks.

Disconnecting the Tube:

To disconnect the tube from the fitting, ensure that the water line is depressurized. Push the collet square towards the push-in fitting body and hold. While holding the collet in, pull on the PE tubing to remove it from the push-in fitting.

Start Up and Operating Instructions

Start Up:

  1. Air within the bottle filler system or the structure's supply piping will cause an irregular spout outlet stream until purged out by incoming water. It is recommended to hold a cup (or similar object) directly below the filler spout when first activating the bottle filler to prevent excessive splashing. Press and hold the pushbutton until a steady water stream is achieved.
  2. Using the same method, hold a cup (or similar object) directly over the bubbler(s) and activate the bubblers until air is purged out and a steady stream is achieved.

Operating Instructions:

Hold a container to be filled just below the filler tube in the center of the unit, then push the pushbutton. When the container is almost filled, release the pushbutton.
