1-IMPORTANT SAFETY

  1. This unit must be properly installed in accordance with the installation instructions before it is used.
  2. This appliance must be earthed, and use the 115V/60Hz earthed power supply. Never remove the ground prong. Never use an adapter.
  3. Do not run cord over carpeting or other heat insulators. Do not cover the cord. Keep cord away from traffic areas, and do not submerge in water. No other appliance should be plugged into the same outlet.
  4. We do not recommend the use of extension cord as it may overheat and cause a risk of fire. If you must use an extension cord, use a No. 14AWG minimum size and rated no less than 1875 watts.
  5. To avoid a hazard due to instability of the appliance, it must be placed at an even or flat surface.
  6. Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
  7. Do not use your unit outdoors. Keep the unit away from direct sunlight and make sure that there is at least 15 cm of space between the back of your unit and wall and keep the front free. Keep ventilation opening in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.
  8. If the unit is brought in from outside in the winter season, give it a few hours to warm up to room temperature before plugging it in.
  9. Do not tip over the unit, which will cause abnormal noisy and make the ice-cube size abnormal. And seriously, it may cause water leakage from the unit.
  10. Do not use other liquid to make the ice-cube other than water.
  11. Do not clean your ice maker with flammable fluids; the fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
  12. Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.
  13. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
  14. If for any reason this product requires service, we strongly recommend that a certified technician perform the service.
  15. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Suggest:

  1. Clean the machine first, please discard the first batch of ice.
  2. The first ice making time may be longer, about 20-30 minutes, which is normal, and the second ice making time will be normal after the machine is cooled.
  3. Allow 4 hours for the refrigerant fluid to settle before plugging the ice maker in, as the unit may fall upside down during shipping or transportation.

3-GENERAL INFORMATION

1) Main Unit Construction

2) Operation panel

A. "TIMER CLEAN" [timer-clean] button

  • Quickly press this button once to enter the Timer setting program.
  • Press this button for more than 5 seconds to enter the Self-cleaning program.

B. "ON/OFF" [power] button

  • When the unit is off, press this button to turn on the unit.
  • During the Self-cleaning program, or normal ice-making state, press this button to turn off the unit at once.
  • If the unit is set with the Timer, press this button to cancel the Timer setting.
  • When the unit is making the ice cube, press this button for more than 5 seconds; the unit will switch to ice harvest process by force.

C. LCD display window

The display window shows various indicators:

  1. Ice making time countdown display and environmental temperature display. Display ice-making time countdown with 'M' as the unit display, and display environmental temperature with 'F' as the unit display.
  2. Making ice and deicing symbol display. The machine is making ice when the symbol rotates, and the machine is deicing when the symbol flashes.
  3. Self-cleaning symbol display.
  4. On/off symbol display.
  5. Error code display. E1 means the environmental temperature sensor is damaged, E2 means ice making anomaly or the refrigerant leaked.
  6. Water flow in and water shortage display. The arrow flashing indicates water is flowing into the machine; the whole symbol is bright, indicates the machine is short of water.
  7. Ice full alarm. The machine will make ice again when you take out the ice.
  8. Setting display. Display ice making time setting with 'M' as the unit display, and display timing switch machine with 'H' as the unit display.

D & E. "+" [increase] and "-" [decrease] buttons

  • Use to adjust the ice-making process duration period length; the default setting is zero, adding or decreasing 1 minute per each pressing of "+" or "-" button.
  • Also to adjust the delay time of the timer; the default setting is zero, adding or decreasing 1 hour per each pressing of "+" or "-" button.

3) Ice-making and its water tank parts

  • A. Water dividing pipe: With nine little holes, water will flow out from these little holes. If no water flows out, it can be disassembled and cleaned.
  • B. Evaporator (ice-making module)
  • C. Ice full detecting board: Use to detect if the inner cabinet is full of ice or not, and to check if the ice-harvest process is over or not.

4-OPERATING PROCEDURES & MAINTENANCE

1) Unpacking

  1. Remove the exterior and interior packaging. Check if all the accessories are inside or not. If any parts are missing, please contact customer service.
  2. Remove the tapes for fixing the door and inner cabinet, ice scoop, etc. Roughly clean the inner cabinet & ice scoop with a wet cloth.
  3. Put the ice maker on a level & flat floor, without direct sunlight and other sources of heat (like stove, furnace, radiator). Make sure that there is at least 20cm gap between the air outlet and the obstacles, and at least 5 cm between the left/right side and the wall.
  4. Allow 4 hours for the refrigerant fluid to settle before plugging the ice maker in, as the unit may fall upside down during shipping or transportation.
  5. The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible.
  6. NOTE: Connect to the potable water supplying only. Only use drinking water.

2) Cleaning Before First Using

  1. Open the ice getting door.
  2. Clean with diluted detergent, warm water and a soft cloth.
  3. Repeatedly clean the water contacting inner parts. You can pull the Water drain pipe (H) to drain the cleaned water from the water tank. Then clean the inner ice-storing cabinet. Ensure all inner parts are cleanly, then drain out all cleaned water from the water drain port (7) at the unit's back. Re-install the water drain pipe (H) and the cap of the unit water drain port. Failure to do so will prevent the unit from making ice normally. Discard the ice-cube made by the first ice-making cycle after cleaning.
  4. The outside of the ice maker should be cleaned regularly with a mild detergent solution and warm water.
  5. Dry the interior and exterior with a clean soft cloth.

3) Installation location Requirement

  1. This unit is not for outdoor use. Keep the proper room temperature and inlet water temperature according to the specification table. Otherwise, it will affect the ice making performance.
  2. This unit should not be located near any heat resource.
  3. This unit should be located on a firm & level foundation at normal counter top height.
  4. Do not put anything on the top of the ice maker.
  5. To ensure proper ventilation for your ice maker, the front of the unit must be completely unobstructed (at least 250mm free space). Allow at least 50mm clearance at the rear, and 50mm at the top and sides for proper air circulation. The installation should allow the ice maker to be pulled forward for servicing if necessary.
  6. When installing the ice maker under a counter, follow the recommended spacing dimensions shown. Place electrical and water supplies and drain fixtures in the recommended locations.
  7. Choose a well-ventilated area with temperatures above 50°F and below 104°F. This unit must be installed in an area protected from the elements, such as wind, rain, water spray or drips.
  8. The ice maker requires a continuous water supply with pressure 0.04-0.6 MPa. The temperature of the water feeding into the ice maker should be between 41-95°F for proper operation.

Installation clearance diagrams:

Top view (1:10): Shows required clearances of 50mm on the sides and 250mm at the front.

4) Water Connection

NOTE: Be sure to use the new hose-sets supplied with the appliance to connect to water mains and that old hose-sets should not be reused.

1. Connect the water supplying hose to the unit

  1. First, remove the clipper on the water inlet port for water supply (indicated as 'B' in the illustration) located at the unit's back. Then, pushing inwards the anti-dusty plug, use your other hand's finger to press the outer circle to fix the anti-dusty plug, then take down the anti-dusty plug.
  2. Insert one end of the white water hose into the water inlet port, and push inward completely. Install back the clipper; then the water hose connection is completed.

2. Connecting the water drain pipe

Pull out the water drainage cap with black color (indicated as 'A' in the illustration), then connect the white drainage pipe included in the accessory. Connect the other end of this drainage pipe to the main water drainage pipeline.

3. Connect the water hose to the water faucet of the water main supply system

  1. Install the supplied water quick-connector to the water faucet by screw thread.
  2. Remove the clipper from the water quick-connector, insert the other end of the water hose into this quick-connector port completely, then install back the clipper; this is also completed.

5-OPERATION THE UNIT

1) Operation The Ice-Making Process

Starting up

  1. Plug in the power plug; the [power] symbol will flash in the display window.
  2. Press the [power] button on the control panel. The external pipe can add water to the water tank through the electromagnetic water valve. After reaching the standard water level, the machine will start to make ice, then the [making ice] symbol will change to light on, always in the display window and the [deicing] symbol rotates.
  3. The ambient temp will be displayed in the upper left of the display window (e.g., "80°F"). Several minutes later, flashing numbers will be displayed in the ambient temp display area; the flashing number "10M" means still need 10 minutes to finish this ice making cycle.

2. Ice making cycle

  1. Every ice making cycle finished, entering the deicing process, the [deicing] symbol flashes. The external pipe can add water to the water tank through the electromagnetic water valve, and the arrow on the [water flow] symbol will flash until the water reach the standard level, then the [making ice] symbol extinguishes, and the unit enters the next ice making cycle.
  2. When the water can't reach the standard level, the [add-water] symbol is always bright, the unit stops working. After water shortage, the unit needs to be restarted, otherwise it will start up automatically after 15 minutes.

Note: Each ice making cycle is around 12-18 minutes, and the ice making time varies according to the ambient temp and the water temp. Especially for the first ice making cycle, it will be longer because of the high water temp in the water tank, but the ice making cycle will not over 30 minutes.

3. Adjust the ice thickness

  1. Press the "+" [increase] or "-" [decrease] button on the control panel to adjust the ice thickness. The number in the bottom left of the display window is the ice making time setting; the default is "0".
  2. Press "+" button one time; the ice making time will add one minute, making the ice thicker. Press "-" button one time; the ice making time will reduce one minute, making the ice thinner. Restarting the machine will reset it to the default "0".

Note: The time currently set only changes the next and subsequent ice making cycles.

4. When the [F] symbol lights up, the machine stops working. It will work again after you take out the ice.

5. Shut down the unit

  1. During the ice making process, press the [power] button on the control panel; the unit will shut down and enter standby mode.
  2. If you press [power] longer than 5 seconds during ice making, the unit enters the deicing process directly. This function can help remove ice on the ice plate.
  3. Press [power] to shut down the machine.

6. Timing setting

1) Setting range: 1-24 hours

A. Timing shutdown:

When the unit is running, it can be set up for timing shutdown.

B. Timing start up:

When the unit is on standby, it can be set to start the unit at a specific time.

2) How to set up the timing

  1. Press the TIMER button on the control panel. The default timing time is "1H" in the display window. Then press the "+" [increase] button to adjust the timing time you need; each press adds 1 hour. Press the "-" [decrease] button to reduce the timing time.
  2. During the process of time adjustment, the "H" in the lower corner of the number will flash. After 5 seconds of flashing without pressing, the "H" letter will change from flashing to always displaying, meaning the timer program has been completed.
  3. In standby condition, displaying "5H" means the unit will start automatically after 5 hours. In ice making condition, displaying "5H" means the machine will shut down automatically after 5 hours.
  4. The "H" in the display screen indicates that the machine currently has a timing function. The number in front will decrease until it becomes zero, at which point the timing ends, and the machine enters the required mode.

3) How to cancel the timing

  1. When the unit is timed (the display window will show "XX H"), press the "TIMER" button. The timing is canceled after the number on the screen and "H" are extinguished.
  2. When the unit has a timing setting, the display area in the lower left corner will show the timing time and the ice making setting time, switching every 5 seconds.

7. Automatic cleaning program

The default cleaning time is 20 minutes.

  1. Start the self-cleaning program: After connecting all water pipes, plug in the main power supply. Then press the "TIMER CLEAN" [timer-clean] button on the control panel for more than 5 seconds to enter the self-cleaning program. The [cleaning] symbol rotates on the display screens. The time count down area displays "20M".
  2. The "CLEAN" light will be always on during this period. The digit window will indicate the remaining time. The water pump runs for 8 minutes and stops for 3 minutes, cycling. The total duration time is 20 minutes for one self-cleaning program. When the water pump stops, water will be supplied to the water tank automatically.
  3. Cancel the self-cleaning program: It takes about 20 minutes to complete one self-cleaning program. When the program is over, the system will be in an off-state automatically. You can also press the "ON/OFF" [power] button on the control panel to cancel the self-cleaning program by force.

6-CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

1) Warming [warning]

  1. Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operations, unplug the ice maker from the main power supply electricity (EXCEPTION: Ice maker self-cleaning program).
  2. Do not use any alcohol or fume for cleaning/disinfection of the ice maker; it may cause cracks on the plastic parts.
  3. Ask a trained service person to check and clean the condenser at least once a year to ensure the unit works properly.
  4. This appliance must be cleaned by use of a water jet.
  5. If the ice maker has been left unused for a long time, before the next use, it must be thoroughly cleaned. Follow carefully any instructions provided for cleaning or use of sanitizing solution. Do not leave any solution inside the ice maker after cleaning.
  6. Periodic cleaning and proper maintenance will ensure efficiency, top performance, hygiene, and long life. The maintenance intervals listed are based on normal conditions. You may want to shorten the intervals if you have pets, or the unit is used outdoors, or there are other special considerations.
  7. Never keep anything in the ice storage bin that is not ice; objects like wine and beer bottles are not only unsanitary, but their labels may slip off and obstruct the drain pipe.

2) Exterior Cleaning

  1. The door and cabinet may be cleaned with a mild detergent and warm water solution, such as 28g of dish washing liquid mixed with 7.5L of warm water. Do not use solvent-based or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft sponge and rinse with clean water. Wipe with a soft clean towel to prevent water spotting.
  2. Stainless steel models exposed to chlorine gas and moisture, such as in areas with spas or swimming pools, may have some discoloration of stainless steel. This is normal and should be cleaned. Clean it with a mild detergent and a damp cloth. Never use abrasive cleaning agents.

3) Interior Cleaning

The ice storage bin should be sanitized occasionally. Clean the bin before the ice maker is used for the first time and reused after stopping for an extended period of time. It is usually convenient to sanitize the bin after the ice making system has been cleaned, and the storage bin is empty.

  1. Disconnect power to the unit.
  2. Open the door and, with a clean cloth, wipe down the interior with a sanitizing solution made of 28g of household bleach or chlorine and 7.5L of hot water (95°F to 115°F).
  3. Rinse thoroughly with clear water. The waste water will be drained out through the drain pipe.
  4. Reconnect power to the unit.
  5. The ice scoop should be washed regularly, just like any other food container.
  6. NOTE: Do not use strong cleaning agents or abrasives on the interior; these cleaners may transmit taste to the ice cubes, or damage and discolor the interior.

4) Ice Making Parts Cleaning

Periodically clean these main systems of your ice-maker.

  1. Repeat the above steps to clean the water tank and other inner parts of the unit.
  2. Especially, clean the water dividing pipe on the evaporator. When the compressor and the water pump run normally, but if there is no water flowing out from the water dividing pipe or the water flow is very small, please discharge this water dividing pipe to clean carefully. Clean each little hole on the water dividing pipe displayed in the illustration, ensuring each hole is not clogged, then install it back to the original location.
  3. When there are ice cubes on the surface of the evaporator, but they don't fall down easily, do not use mechanical substance to remove them by force. Only press the "ON/OFF" [power] button for more than 5 seconds; the unit will enter the ice melting process. After some while, the big ice-cubes will fall down. Then turn off the unit and unplug the power cord to clean the surface of the evaporator.

4. For the water tank and ice-full detecting plate

  1. The water tank and the ice-full detecting plate are important to keep your ice cube hygienic. Put a mixture of neutral cleaner & water into a clean water jet, then spray to all the inner surfaces of the tank & the ice detecting plate. Wipe these surfaces as far as possible with a clean cloth.
  2. Then, spray the surfaces with clean water, wiping with a dry clean cloth. Drain out the cleaned water in the water tank by pulling out the Water drain pipe (H). When all cleaned water has been drained out, re-install the water drain pipe of the water tank.
  3. NOTE: After cleaning the interior parts and re-installing them, return the machine to work and discard the first batch of ice.

5) Ice Making Assembly System Cleaning

Minerals removed from water during the freezing cycle eventually form a hard scaly deposit in the water system. Cleaning the system regularly helps remove mineral scale buildup. How often you need to clean the system depends upon your water hardness. With hard water of 4 to 5 grains/liter, you may need to clean the system as often as every 6 months.

  1. Turn off the ice maker. Keep the ice maker connected to the water supply and drainpipe, but shut off the water faucet of the main water supply.
  2. Open the door and scoop out all of the ice cubes. Either discard them or save them in an ice chest or cooler.
  3. Making the cleaning solution: Please mix the Nu-Calgon Nickle Safe Ice Machine Cleaner with water to make the cleaning solution. Use a plastic or stainless container with more than 4 liters capacity. Mix 300 ml Nu-Calgon Nickle Safe Ice-machine Cleaner with 2.8 liters warm water (about 122-140°F). Then divide them into 2 shares equally in 2 cups. It is better to keep the temperature of each cup of the cleaning solution.
  4. NOTE: Wear rubber gloves and safety goggles (and/or face shield) when handling Ice Machine Cleaner or Sanitizer.
  5. Check to be sure that the water drain pipe of the water tank has been installed properly in the slot of the tank wall. Then pour one cup of Nickel-Safe Ice Maker Cleaning Solution into the water tank. Wait about 5 minutes.
  6. Turn on the power to the ice maker, then press the "TIMER CLEAN" [timer-clean] button on the control panel for more than 5 seconds to enter the self-Cleaning program. As explained above, the water pump runs for 8 minutes and stops for 3 minutes, cycling. The total duration time is 30 minutes for one self-cleaning program. During this process, the "CLEAN" light will always be on, and the digit window will indicate the remaining time.
  7. After 30 minutes of one self-cleaning program completion, pull out the drain pipe of the water tank. Drain the cleaning solution down to the lower ice storage bin. Shake the unit slightly to drain out all the cleaning solution completely. Then install back the drain pipe to the slot of the water tank.
  8. Repeat steps 4-6 to clean the ice making assembly system again.
  9. NOTE: The ice machine cleaner contains acids. DO NOT use or mix with any other solvent-based cleaner products. Use rubber gloves to protect hands. Carefully read the material safety instructions on the container of the ice machine cleaner.
  10. Then open the water faucet of the main water supply. Let the water flow into the unit. Again, press the "TIMER CLEAN" [timer-clean] button on the control panel for more than 5 seconds to enter the self-Cleaning program. As explained above, the water pump runs for 8 minutes and stops for 3 minutes, cycling. The total duration time is 30 minutes for one self-cleaning program. During this process, the "CLEAN" light will always be on, and the digit window will indicate the remaining time. Through this process, it will rinse the water dividing pipe, evaporator, water pump, silicone pipe, and water tank, etc.
  11. After one self-cleaning program is complete, pull out the drain pipe of the water tank. Drain the cleaning solution down to the lower ice storage bin. Shake the unit slightly to drain out all the water completely. Then install back the drain pipe to the water tank slot tightly.
  12. Repeat steps 8-9 again for 2 times.
  13. Follow the above program to clean the ice storage bin.
  14. Then this special cleaning program finishes; you can return to the regular ice making mode. It is suggested to discard the first batch of ice cube.

6) Cleaning Suggestion

1. DAILY CLEANING

The ice shovel, door, and the water dividing pipe should be cleaned by yourself each day. At the end of every day, rinse the ice shovel and wipe both sides of the door with a clean cloth.

2. SEMI-MONTHLY CLEANING

The ice shovel, ice bin, water tank, the ice-full detecting plate, and the surface of the evaporator are to be cleaned by yourself semi-monthly according to the interior cleaning program.

3. SEMI-ANNUAL CLEANING

All components & surfaces exposed to water or ice cubes, like ice storage bin, water tank, door, evaporator, water pump, silicone tube, water dividing pipe, etc., should be cleaned using Nu-Calgon Nickle Safe Ice-machine Cleaner every 6 months. They should be cleaned by the serviceman according to the ice making assembly system cleaning program.

7-NORMAL TROUBLE SHOOTING

  • a) Ambient temp sensor breakdown: Display E1 in digital window.
  • b) Suction tube temp sensor: Display E2 in digital window.
  • c) Both Ambient temp sensor and Suction tube temp sensor breakdown: Display E3 in digital window.
  • d) Magnetic control switch cutoff: "Full" [ice-full] light will be on when plugging on or just turning on the unit. It will delete the breakdown display if this switch is electric shorted.
  • e) The duration time of one ice making cycle is more than 35 minutes: Display E4 in digital window; the unit will be turned off. This is system protection for no refrigerant in the cooling system or the compressor not working.
  • f) During the ice making process, press the "ON/OFF" [power] button for more than 5 seconds; the unit starts to enter the ice harvest program. After the ice harvest program, it continues to enter the ice making process.
  • g) "ADD WATER" [add-water] light is on: Maybe caused by lower main water supply pressure or clogging of the water supply hose. During the water supplying process, if it takes more than 6 minutes, but the water level detecting switch also cannot be connected, then the light will be on and means absence of the water.

Floating ball of the water level detecting switch is blocked, can't be raised up. Clean the water tank and the water level detecting switch.
Water flows out from the water tank. Place the unit on the level position, not on the slope.
Water flows out from the water drain pipe of the water tank. Pull out the pipe and install back to the slot of the water tank properly.
The unit starts to enter the ice making process, but no water flowing in the unit, and the "ADD WATER" [add-water] indicator flashes. Water supplying hose breakdown, or water flows in very slowly. Check the main water supply pressure or check the water supply hose is blocked or not. Adding water pressure or cleaning the hose may be necessary.
Water pump is working, but no water flow out from the water dividing pipe. The little holes on the water dividing pipe is blocked. Clean these little holes.
The transparency of the ice cube is not very good. Water quality is bad. Change the water supply, or use the water filter to soften or filter the water.
Ice cube shape is irregular. Water quality is not good or the water tank is very dirty. Clean the water tank, and change with new water.
Ice cube is very thin. The little holes on the water dividing pipe are some blocked. Clean the water dividing pipe, make sure all nine holes are unclogged.
Ambient temperature is too high. Move the unit to low temperature space, or lengthen the time of each ice making cycle.
Air circulation around the unit is not good. Make sure there is more than 20CM space between the unit back & front and the obstacle.
Ice cube is too thick. Ambient temperature is too low. Reduce the time of each ice making cycle.
"FULL" [ice-full] indicator is on. The ice storage bin is full of the ice cube. Take out some ice cube.
Ice making cycle is normal, but there is no ice cube produced. The temperature of Ambient, or water in water tank is too high. Move to the place with temperature lower than 32 centigrade, and change to the low temperature water.
Refrigerant leakage. Need the technical serviceman to maintain.
Cooling system tube is clogged. Need the technical serviceman to maintain.

8-Preparing the Ice Maker for Long Storage

If the ice maker will not be used for a long time, or is to be moved to another place, it will be necessary to drain out all of the water in the system.

  1. Allow all of the ice cubes to be ejected from the evaporator of the ice maker.
  2. Turn off the unit, and unplug the power cord.
  3. Shut off the water supply at the main water supply.
  4. Disconnect the water supply hose from the water inlet valve.
  5. Pull out the Water drain pipe (H) to drain out the water in the water tank. When all of the water has been drained out, reinstall the water drain pipe of the water tank.
  6. Then drain out all of the water from the water drain port (7) located at the unit's back.
  7. Disconnect the water drain pipe from the main drain pipeline or floor drain, and plug on the drain cap again.
  8. Drop the door open to allow for circulation and prevent mold and mildew.
  9. Leave water supply hose and power cord disconnected until ready to reuse.
  10. Dry the interior & wipe the outside of the unit.
  11. Put a plastic bag on the unit to resist dust & dirt.

9-Product Warranty

  1. The warranty only covers defects in material or workmanship.
  2. The warranty will not apply in cases of:
    • Incorrect use, e.g., overloading of the appliance, use of non-approved accessories.
    • Use of force, damage caused by external influences.
    • Normal wear and tear.
    • Damage caused by non-observance of the user manual, e.g., connection to an unsuitable mains supply or non-compliance with the installation instructions.
    • Partially or completely dismantled appliances.
