Double-Insulated Appliances
[Double-insulation-symbol] CAUTION:
- Use only as described and with manufacturer's recommended attachments.
- Check rating plate for voltage compatibility (within 10%).
- Use only identical replacement parts.
- Clean water level limiting device regularly.
Double-insulated appliances have two insulation systems instead of grounding. Servicing requires extreme care by qualified personnel.
Electrical Connection
[WARNING] The upper section contains live components. Contact can cause serious or fatal injury. Never spray water on the upper section.
- Inspect cable and plug for damage. Repair by Nilfisk or authorized dealer.
- Do not handle cable or plug with wet hands.
- To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cable. Unplug before service/repair.
- Do not wrap power cord around fingers or body.
- Recommended connection via residual current circuit breaker.
- Ensure watertight connectors and couplings.
Extension Lead Requirements:
Cable length | Cross section (< 16 A) | Cross section (< 25 A) |
---|---|---|
up to 20 m | 1.5 mm² | 2.5 mm² |
20 to 50 m | 2.5 mm² | 4.0 mm² |
Hazardous Materials
[WARNING] Vacuuming hazardous materials can lead to serious or fatal injuries.
Do NOT pick up:
- Hot materials (burning cigarettes, hot ash).
- Flammable, explosive, aggressive liquids (petrol, solvents, acids, alkalis).
- Flammable, explosive dust (magnesium, aluminium).
Asbestos Abatement (TRGS 519):
- Use Dust Class H machines (type designation -0H PC).
- Use suction hose max. 36 mm diameter.
- Use closable plastic sack for dust-free transport.
- Do not use in "white" areas after asbestos work, unless decontaminated by a specialist.
- Exhaust air must not be returned to the room. Use exhaust air socket and hose (max 4m, min 50mm diameter).
Maintenance
- Unplug before maintenance.
- Check frequency and voltage match mains supply.
- Machine designed for heavy work. Dust filter renewal depends on running hours.
- Clean with a dry cloth and polish.
- Handle with care during maintenance to avoid danger.
- Use filtered compulsory ventilation and wear protective clothing in maintenance areas.
Regular Servicing and Inspection
Must be carried out by qualified personnel according to regulations. Includes electrical tests (earth continuity, insulation resistance, cord condition).
Any defect requires repair by an authorized service technician.
Annual technical inspection by Nilfisk technician or instructed person (filters, air tightness, controls).

Applications and Techniques
General Techniques
Additional accessories, nozzles, and hoses can enhance cleaning. Follow guidelines and practical experience.
Picking up Dry Substances
[CAUTION] Do not pick up flammable substances.
- Suction hose diameter must suit switch position.
- Always use a safety filter bag for dry substances with maximum concentration values.
- For harmless dust, use a waste bag for simple and hygienic disposal.
- After picking up liquids, the filter element is wet. Wash/dry or replace it before picking up dry substances.
- If used with Dust Class H dust, clean thoroughly before using with Dust Class M or lower.
- Always use a suitable filter bag/waste bag for the type of dust.
Picking up Liquids
[CAUTION] Do not pick up flammable substances.
- Vacuum cleaners with removable tanks (SD) lack an automatic level indicator. Risk of overfilling or leakage.
- Never pick up more than 40 litres at once.
- Switch off and empty the dirt tank.
- Before picking up liquids, remove filter bag/waste bag and check float/water level limit.
- Use of a separate filter element or screen is recommended.
- If foam appears, stop work immediately and empty the tank.
- Use foam killer (Nilfisk Foam-Stop) to reduce foam.
Troubleshooting
