Safety Precautions and Operation
Operating Precautions:
- Before switching on the receiver, ensure the throttle stick is in the 'Off' position.
- Ensure the transmitter and receiver are compatible and bonded to one another.
- Always switch the transmitter on first, then the receiver.
- Always switch the receiver off first, then the transmitter.
- Complete a full range and function test before every operation.
- Never fly over people and do not allow your model to endanger people or animals.
- Do not fly near to over-head cables, buildings or airfields.
- The system must not be operated in rain, or thunder storms.
- If you do not intend to use the transmitter for a long period, remove the batteries.
Transmitter Layout Description:
The transmitter features the following controls and indicators:
- 1. Antenna: Transmits the radio signal.
- 2. Handle: Ergonomic grip for the user.
- 3. Power LED: Indicates the transmitter's power status.
- 4. Servo Reverse CH1: Switch to reverse the direction of Channel 1 servo.
- 5. Left/Right Stick: Controls steering or primary function.
- 6. Left/Right Trim: Fine-tunes the neutral position for steering or primary function.
- 7. Binding Button: Used for synchronizing the transmitter with the receiver.
- 8. ON/OFF Switch: Powers the transmitter on and off.
- 9. Throttle Stick: Controls acceleration and braking/reverse.
- 10. Throttle Trim: Fine-tunes the neutral position for throttle.
- 11. Servo Reverse CH2: Switch to reverse the direction of Channel 2 servo.
- 12. Indicator LED: Provides status information for the transmitter.
Battery Hatch: Located on the rear of the transmitter. To open, push down on the marked 'Push' area and slide the cover. Ensure correct battery polarity when inserting batteries.
Receiver Description:
The receiver allows direct connection of two servos. It has the following channel allocation:
- Channel 1: Steering
- Channel 2: Throttle
- Binding Channel 3: Used with the binding cable for synchronization.
Binding Procedure (Synchronization):
The transmitter and receiver must be bound together for the system to function. Follow these steps:
- Fit the binding plug to socket 3 on the receiver and connect the power supply. The receiver LED will begin to blink.
- Press and hold the binding button on the transmitter, then switch the transmitter on. The transmitter enters binding mode.
- Once binding is complete, the receiver LED will shine steadily.
- Switch off the transmitter and receiver.
- Remove the binding plug.
Important Information: The system will not function while the binding button is pressed. Do not leave the system in binding mode for extended periods.
Settings:
Before operating your model, carefully check that the servos operate in the correct direction. If they do not rotate in the correct direction, use the servo reverse switches located on the front of the transmitter to change the direction. The servo neutral positions should then be set by moving the servo arms until they are at exactly 90° with the trim central. The trim should only be used to make fine adjustments when operating the model. If you are using this system with an Internal Combustion engine, make sure that the linkage cannot bind in either the full throttle or tick-over positions.
Switching On Sequence:
- Connect all of the components together.
- Switch on the transmitter.
- Connect the power supply to the receiver and switch on if required.
- Check that all of the LEDs are correctly illuminated.
- The system is now switched on and ready to operate.
Switching Off Sequence:
- Switch off and unplug the receiver power supply.
- Switch off the transmitter.
Model Operation:
Steering:
This function is used to steer the model in the correct direction. Moving the steering stick to the left or right will make the wheels, or hull if operating a boat, move in that direction. Moving the stick to the left should make the model steer to the left.
Throttle:
This function is used to make the model move forward or in reverse and it also is used to control the model's speed. Pushing the stick forwards makes the model accelerate forwards and pulling it to the rear will make the model brake first and then to accelerate in reverse.
