Typical Installation

Local codes govern installation requirements. Unless specified, the assembly should be mounted at a minimum of 12 inches (305mm) above the highest piping or outlet. Ensure adequate drain and sufficient side clearance for testing and maintenance. The installation must prevent submergence of any part of the unit. A pressure vacuum breaker cannot be installed where back-pressure could occur or where spillage from the vent could cause damage.

Indoor Installation

Diagram shows indoor installation with main shut-off valve, inlet drain valve, test cocks, and outlet shut-off valve.

Typical Outdoor Installation (Warm Climates)

Diagram shows outdoor installation for warm climates with no winterization.

Typical Outdoor Installation (Cold Climates)

Diagram shows outdoor installation for cold climates requiring winterization.

Specifications

The Pressure Vacuum Breaker is ASSE 1020 approved and supplied with full port ball valves. The main body and bonnet are bronze (ASTM B584). The loaded-air inlet utilizes a silicone elastomer spring and seat disc. The entire assembly is accessible for maintenance and testing without removing the device from the line. For non-potable applications only. The Pressure Vacuum Breaker is a Zurn Wilkins Model 720A.
