Polar Patterns
The JLab Talk USB Microphone offers multiple polar patterns for different recording scenarios:
- Cardioid: Records sound primarily from the front of the microphone.
- Omni: Records sound from all directions around the microphone.
- Stereo: Records sound from the left and right channels separately.
- Bidirectional: Records sound from both the front and back of the microphone.
Visual representations of the microphone's pickup patterns: Cardioid (focuses on sound from the front), Omni (captures sound from all directions), Stereo (records left and right channels separately), and Bidirectional (picks up sound from the front and back).
In Use
For optimal recording quality, ensure the microphone is positioned correctly.

- The Talk works with almost any recording software installed on macOS, Windows, or Linux. Review your software's settings and adjust accordingly.
- No additional drivers/software are needed for the Talk. Simply plug in and set up in device settings.
- The Talk will not work through a power bank/battery pack. It will only work with a USB-A input with an operating system.
