This appliance is designed for ease of installation and operation. Read all sections of this manual before beginning installation.
Do not remove permanently affixed labels, warnings, or data plates. This may void the manufacturer's warranty or hinder servicing.
Keep these instructions with the appliance for future reference.
Observe all local and national building codes and ordinances. Follow the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 edition, if no local codes apply.
Check with a qualified installer or local codes for make-up air requirements.
This hood is for residential use only and not for installation over commercial products.
Ensure all power is turned off at the main breaker or fuse box before making connections.
To avoid risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, turn off electricity to the hood before cleaning or servicing.
This product is intended for domestic use only!
⚠️ WARNING!

Use the unit as intended by the manufacturer. For questions, call 610.374.7679.
Before cleaning or servicing, switch power off at the service panel and lock it out. If the service panel cannot be locked, affix a prominent warning tag.
Installation and electrical work must be performed by qualified individuals according to applicable codes and standards.
Do not damage existing electrical or hidden utilities when drilling, cutting, or removing walls, ceilings, or floors.
Ducted fans must vent outdoors.
Sufficient air is required to properly exhaust gases from natural and propane fueled cooking equipment to avoid back drafting. Follow all codes and standards for proper air requirements.
Use only metal ductwork.
Never vent exhaust air into another room or garage. Duct must vent outdoors.
⚠️ WARNING! (Grease Fire Prevention)
Never leave the appliance unattended during use. Boil-overs can cause spills that may ignite.
Do not use water on grease fires.
Never pick up a flaming pan. Keep a multi-purpose dry chemical or foam-type fire extinguisher nearby.
If flaming liquor or spirits are involved under the hood, turn the fan off. Drafts can spread flames.
Never use the appliance as a space heater.
Use only dry potholders. Moist potholders can cause steam burns. Do not let potholders touch hot burner areas. Do not use towels or bulky material as potholders.
Position pot/pan handles so they do not extend over adjacent burners or the front of the appliance to reduce burn risk and spillage.
Clean ventilating fans and grease baffles often; grease should not accumulate.
⚠️ WARNING! (Grease Fire Injury Prevention)
Smother flames with a close-fitting lid, cookie sheet, or metal tray, then turn off the burner. If flames do not extinguish, evacuate and call the fire department.
Never handle or pick up a flaming pan.
Do not use water, including wet dishcloths or towels, as a violent steam explosion may ensue.
Do not turn on the hood to evacuate smoke; turn it off.
Use an extinguisher only if: you have a Class ABC extinguisher and know how to operate it; the fire is small and contained; the fire department has been notified; and you can fight the fire with your back towards an unobstructed exit.

This product is for general ventilation applications. Do not use to exhaust hazardous, flammable, or explosive materials.
Prior to cleaning or servicing, switch power off at the service panel and lock it out. If the panel cannot be locked, affix a warning tag.
Do not use porcelain or abrasive cleaners, as they may cause cosmetic damage (scratches, discoloration).
Brass trim pieces require special cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or furniture polish, as this will cause discoloration.

Product Models
BlueStar offers two main series of professional ventilation hoods for the home:
Pro Line Hood
A description of the Pro Line Hood, characterized by its modern, rectangular design and stepped top. It is designed for efficient ventilation and integrates seamlessly into a professional kitchen environment.
Pro Line Hood: A rectangular, modern-style ventilation hood with a stepped design at the top, appearing to be made of stainless steel. It has a wide, flat bottom and tapers upwards.
Pyramid Style Hood
A description of the Pyramid Style Hood, featuring a distinctive pyramid or stepped shape that tapers from a wide base to a narrower top. This design offers both aesthetic appeal and effective ventilation.
Pyramid Hood: A ventilation hood with a distinct pyramid or stepped shape, tapering from a wide base to a narrower top. It also appears to be made of stainless steel.
Handling & Unpacking
Handling
Remove all watches, belt buckles, jewelry, rings, and clothing with metal buttons or snaps to prevent damage to the hood.
When beginning installation, remove the hood from its original carton and place it on a clean, non-abrasive blanket.
Inspect the hood carefully for any damage or imperfections before installation. If damage exists, recarton the hood and call your dealer immediately. Do not install a damaged hood.
It is highly recommended to use rubber gloves to prevent scratches and ensure a firm grip.
When removing the hood from the carton, locate the filters, which are packed separately.
Do not remove the hood from its original carton until you are ready to install it.
Unpacking
Check the package for damage. If visible damage is present, mark the bill of lading to indicate potential concealed damage.
Ensure the container is upright. If not, major damage can occur. If damage is discovered, do not refuse delivery. Contact the dealer and file appropriate freight claims. Save all packaging material. Shipping damage claims are resolved between the customer, shipping carrier, and dealer. The manufacturer may assist but does not relieve you of responsibility.
Move the container as close to the installation location as possible to reduce moving and handling once the appliance is out of its shipping container.
Do not discard packaging without first locating the filters.
Inspect all molded packaging before discarding.
⚠️IMPORTANT: ANY DAMAGE MUST BE REPORTED BEFORE INSTALLING THE HOOD. ONCE THE HOOD HAS BEEN INSTALLED, NO RETURN WILL BE ACCEPTED!
Make sure blowers are free from obstructions (packing and debris). Test run blowers before finalizing installation. Check with the manufacturer before attempting to use other than BlueStar blower systems. For technical information, contact BlueStar Service at (610.376.7479).

Installation: Pro Line Series
Dimensions
Inlet Location for Electrical Connection: Located near the rear center of the hood, 2.5" from the hood bottom.
Electrical Requirements: 15 Amps at 120 Volts.
Light Bulbs: PAR 16, 60 Watt Halogen.
Bulb Operation: Operated by a dimmer switch.
Blower: Variable speed and must be purchased separately.

Site Preparation
When selecting the proper height to mount the hood, consider the stature of the person(s) who will be cooking. A height of 30" minimum to 36" maximum off the cooking surface will suit most users.
If mounted higher than 36" above the cooking surface, the hood should be at least 6" wider than the cooking appliance for proper capture of heat and grease (refer to range manufacturer's guidelines).
Once the proper height is established, draw a level line where the bottom of the hood will rest. If practical, mount a board equal to the hood's width along this line to support the hood during installation.
Mark a center line on the wall equal to the hood's entire height to assist with proper duct alignment and hood placement. Determine stud locations and mark them clearly. Due to the hood's weight, ensure mounting screws are driven into studs, not just drywall. Additional holes may be necessary in the canopy for proper alignment. If only one stud can be located, use toggle bolts or additional fastening to secure the hood.
Install a 115 Volt, 15 Amp electrical lead in the hole marked on the rough-in diagram (Figure A). Example: For a 36" hood, the location is 2.5" from the bottom, centered on the hood. Verify ducting is in the correct location for your application.

The Correct Height
The bottom of the hood should be 30" minimum to 36" maximum above the countertop. This typically results in the bottom of the hood being 66" to 72" above the floor. The hood bottom should never be more than 72" above the floor or more than 36" above the countertop. These dimensions ensure safe and efficient operation.
If the hood is mounted greater than 72" from the floor for any reason, it must be 6" wider than the range.
All PL model hoods can duct from the top or rear. Check manual for recommended transitions.

BS-IBPL600 is sized for a 6" duct. TRC8/6 transition is available to increase the duct size to 8" for optimal performance.
Important Planning Information!
Proper installation of ducting is extremely important for optimal performance of your BlueStar ventilation system.
All CFM's are based on tests at 0.1 static pressure; without static pressure, all CFM's would be overstated.
Straight runs or gradual turns are best.
Never use flexible duct work.
Proper performance is dependent on proper duct installation; use a qualified and trained installer.
Consult with local codes for make-up air requirements.
L-brackets for the internal blower packages can be mounted for either top or rear discharge.
BS-IBPL1200 blowers require an additional purchase of a 10" transition.
Blower Installation
Installation of BS-IBPL600 Internal Blower Kit (Refer to Wiring Diagram)
Remove shipping bracket (see Item 1) from hood. Do not discard screws.
Install blower bracket with the screws removed from the shipping bracket.
Locate the terminal block inside the electrical supply box.
Connect Fan #1 wire to terminal block #4.
Connect Fan #1 wire to terminal block #6.
Connect the 115 Volt white supply wire to terminal block #2.
Connect the 115 Volt black supply wire to terminal block #1.
Installation of BS-IBPL1200 Internal Blower Kit (Refer to Wiring Diagram)
FOR FAN #1
Install blower bracket with the screws removed from the shipping bracket.
Locate the terminal block inside the electrical supply box.
Connect Fan #1 wire to terminal block #4.
Connect Fan #1 wire to terminal block #6.
Connect the 115 Volt white supply wire to terminal block #2.
Connect the 115 Volt black supply wire to terminal block #1.
FOR FAN #2

Item 1: Shipping bracket should be used with remote blower, as the attachment for the flue. Once removed, attach blower as described above.

Duct Cover Installation
Remove pop rivets from the Pro Hood that correspond with the small holes on the duct cover.
Install hood to correct height (be careful to leave 12" for duct cover).
Slide duct cover over the top of the hood.
Ensure small holes in the duct cover flange align with holes in the hood where rivets were removed.
From inside the hood, attach the duct cover using sheet metal screws.

Flue Installation
1. Measure from the top of the canopy to the ceiling and subtract 1/8" for clearance.
2. Place the duct cover top inside the duct cover base and lower until the desired height is found. (To eliminate scratches, make a mark on the duct cover top for the desired lowering point by subtracting 15" from the total height needed.)
3. Use the retaining screws to fasten in place.
4. Slide the duct cover in place and fasten from inside the canopy using sheet metal screws.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Your Hood Must Be Kept Clean and Maintained Properly!!
Baffle Filters
Baffle filters should be examined periodically to assure all surfaces and parts are clean.
The filters are dishwasher safe or can be cleaned in a sink with hot, soapy water.
Easy periodic cleaning will assure optimum filter performance.
Do not use caustic detergent to clean the filters. Abrasive cleaners may harm or damage the finish.
Do not disassemble the baffle filter; disassembly will void the warranty.
Canopy
Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool pads, abrasive cloths, or cleaners with chlorides.
Do not allow grease to accumulate. For best results, wipe the canopy down with a soft cloth and hot, soapy water.
Cleaning the outside of the hood depends on the material used as a decorative exterior. For stainless steel and powder-coated metals, clean with soap and water only. Do not use abrasive or aggressive chemicals!
Replacing the Light Bulbs
Unscrew the halogen light bulb.
Replace halogen with a 60 Watt, 115 Volt Halogen, PAR 16 light bulb.
Warranty
What Is Covered?
Prizer-Painter provides the following limited warranties to original retail purchasers of Products sold and installed in the continental United States and Canada on or after February 22, 2002:
Initial Seven (7) Day Limited Warranty
Warrants all cosmetic components (top grates, ring grates, plate rail, kick panel, body sides, glass, control panel, door panel, back guards, oven seals, light bulbs, enameled parts) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for seven (7) calendar days from delivery. All warranty claims for cosmetic items must be reported within seven calendar days of delivery or they will not be honored. Refer to your installation checklist to activate your limited warranty.
One (1) Year Limited Warranty
Warrants all functional components (except cast iron burner tops) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from delivery. Floor models are covered by a Ninety (90) Day Labor and a one (1) Year Limited Parts Warranty with proof of install date and a completed Installation Checklist. Demonstration units are not covered. Failure to send a complete and accurate installation checklist copy within 15 days of installation will invalidate the warranty.
Ten (10) Year Limited Warranty
Warrants all functional components of cast iron burner tops to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for ten (10) years from delivery. Refer to your installation checklist to activate your limited warranty. Failure to send a complete and accurate installation checklist copy within 15 days of installation will invalidate the warranty.
If a Product fails to comply with these Limited Warranties, Prizer-Painter will, at its option, either (i) pay for repairs by a factory authorized service agent, (ii) replace the Product or defective component, or (iii) refund the purchase price if repair or replacement is not feasible. All repairs must be performed by a factory authorized service agent. Products must be accessible for service within 100 miles of an authorized agent. The purchaser is responsible for costs related to additional mileage, non-standard service, or special equipment needed for removal.
The repair or replacement of the Product, or refund of the purchase price, is the purchaser's sole and exclusive remedy. Prizer-Painter's liability for any defective Product will not exceed its purchase price.
What Is Not Covered?
This Limited Warranty is exclusive and extends only to original retail purchasers in the continental U.S. and Canada. It is not transferable. Implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for particular purpose are limited to the duration of the express warranties.
Prizer-Painter is not liable for special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including loss of business, profits, use, or installation/removal costs), nor for shipping costs related to repair or replacement. Some states may not allow these limitations.
This warranty does not apply to commercial usage or products installed in non-residential settings (day cares, hotels, etc.). It specifically excludes chipping porcelain, calibrations, normal adjustments, burner adjustments, normal care and maintenance, cleaning of parts, shipping damage, discoloration, rust, gasket materials, ceramic materials, and fuses.
Warranty coverage is void for products damaged due to alterations, abuse, misuse, neglect, improper installation, operation, maintenance, storage, accidental/intentional damage, normal wear and tear, unauthorized service, damage from natural disasters, loss of electrical power, outdoor use, harsh chemicals, or circumstances beyond Prizer-Painter's control. The warranty is also invalid if the serial number has been altered or removed.
The Purchaser is responsible for proper installation and normal care and maintenance. This warranty grants specific legal rights, and you may have others that vary by state.
Obtaining Warranty Service
All warranty claims must be reported to Prizer-Painter Stove Works, Inc., 600 Arlington St., Reading, Pennsylvania 19611, prior to the expiration of the Warranty Period. For cosmetic parts, claims must be reported within seven (7) calendar days after delivery.
Call the factory toll-free at 1-800-449-8691 to report a claim or obtain information about warranty service. If a claim is not submitted as required, it will be invalid.
When making a claim, provide the model number, serial number, proof of delivery, a description of the defect, and proof of purchase (original retail receipt or invoice). Prizer-Painter must be given an opportunity to inspect the defective Product.
All warranty repairs must be performed by a factory authorized service agent during normal business hours. The purchaser is responsible for any overtime or premium rates and for making the Product accessible for service.
