JVC Music Control User Guide

GETTING STARTED

Copy music files to the internal storage or the SD card of your device.

Note: If music files are stored in the SD card, do not remove or dismount the SD card while playing songs.

Supported audio files

Note: The audio files playable on JVC car audio depend on the model. Check the instruction manual of your JVC car audio when you connect your device to JVC car audio.

Control song playback

Tap >> to switch to the Song Playback screen.

Visual Description: The Song Playback screen displays album art, song title, artist name, elapsed time, total playback time, and a time-line bar. Playback control icons are visible.

PLAY SONGS

On the application list of your device, tap the JVC Music Control icon to open the list screen.

Visual Description: The List screen displays music organized by Genres, Artists, and Albums. Categories include Genres, Artists, Albums, Playlists, and Moods.

JVC Music Control classifies the songs in your device into Genres, Artists, Albums automatically.

Tap one of the following to select and play a song:

  1. Genres > Artists > Albums > Song
  2. Artists > Albums > Song
  3. Albums > Song
  4. Playlists*1 > Song
  5. Moods (category)*2 > Moods (item) > Song
  6. Songs > Song

*1 To play a song from Playlists, create playlists and add your favorite songs. See PLAYLIST (page 2).

*2 To play a song from Moods, Mood Analysis must be made in advance. See MOOD PLAYLIST (page 3).

Control the song playback

PLAYLIST

You can create a playlist manually by adding songs.

Create a playlist

  1. On the List screen, touch and hold the song name to display the menu.
  2. Tap [Add to playlist]. It displays only when a song is selected from Albums or Songs and [Background analysis] is unchecked.
  3. Tap [Add to new playlist] or the playlist which you want to add a song.
  4. When you select [Add to new playlist], enter a new playlist name and tap [OK]. The song you selected is added to the playlist.

Note: You can also create playlists from the Song Playback screen. Tap the Menu button on your device and then [Add to playlist]. Follow the step 3 and 4 above.

Play a song from playlist

  1. On the List screen, tap [Playlists].
  2. Tap Playlist > Song.

Edit a playlist

Rename or delete a playlist

  1. On the List screen, tap [Playlists].
  2. Touch and hold the playlist you want to edit.
  3. To rename the playlist, tap [Rename this playlist], enter a new playlist name, and then tap [OK].
  4. To delete the playlist, tap [Delete this playlist] and then [OK].

Delete a song from a playlist

  1. On the List screen, tap [Playlists].
  2. Tap the playlist.
  3. Touch and hold the song name to display the menu.
  4. Tap [Delete from this playlist] and then [OK].

Change the song order in a playlist

  1. On the List screen, tap [Playlists].
  2. Tap the playlist.
  3. Tap the Menu button on your device.
  4. Tap [Change playing order].
  5. Drag up or down to change the order in the playlist.

MOOD PLAYLIST

JVC Music Control analyzes the mood of songs. After analysis, songs are classified into the following 13 moods. The impressive part of each song is detected. The songs classified are added in [Moods] automatically, and you can enjoy them by selecting mood. The impressive part of the song is used for Introduction skip.

Mood Description
Acoustic: Gentle music comprising relatively weak tones
    Detailed Piano solo, quiet classical music, etc.
    Simple Folk music, music playing with a few instruments
    Smooth Mature jazz
    Easy Slow ballad
Standard: Music with a feeling of rhythm
    Dynamic Big-beat jazz playing by a big band
    Rockin Classic Rock
    Vivid Rock or Pop music with a good beat
Stylistic: Techno-pop or music playing with electronic instruments
    Cool Ambient Techno
    Urban Dance, Bossa nova
    Trance Trance, Drum'n'Bass
High Energy: Energetic and Loud
    Active Rap, Hip-hop
    Powerful Hard Rock
    Core Punk, Metal
Unclassifiable Song that cannot be classified or analyzed

Note: The song cannot be analyzed if its time is shorter than 20 seconds.

Analyze song

Analyze all songs

  1. Tap the Menu button on your device.
  2. Tap [Preference].
  3. Check [Background analysis]. Songs are displayed and all songs are analyzed while songs are playing. After analysis, the songs are classified and added in [Moods] automatically.

Note: If the remaining battery capacity is reduced below 20%, the background analysis is interrupted.

To cancel song analysis while analyzing all songs

  1. Tap to display the song analysis status.
  2. Tap [Analyzing …(song name)].
  3. Tap the Menu button on your device.
  4. Tap [Cancel analysis] and then [OK].

Analyze the specified song

  1. Uncheck [Background analysis].
  2. On the List screen, touch and hold the song.
  3. Tap on [Analyze this song].

Note: When the song analysis is finished, "Song analysis finished" appears and the song is automatically added in [Moods]. You can also analyze a song on the Song Playback screen. Tap the Menu button on your device and then [Analyze this song]. "Analyze the specified song" analyzes more detail than "Analyze all songs".

Play a song from Mood

On the List screen, tap > Category > Item > Song.

PREFERENCE

Tap the Menu button on your device.

Tap [Preference].

Change settings to meet your preference.

Song analysis settings

Background analysis: Classifies songs into 13 moods and finds the impressive part of songs while songs are playing. The songs classified are added in [Moods] and the impressive part of the songs are used for Introduction skip. When new songs are added, they are also analyzed automatically.

Analyzed data output settings

Outputs the analyzed song data to JVC car audio applied JVC Music Control.

Auto output: Update the song data including songs added or deleted lately and then output.

Output right now: Output the current song data.

Note: The function displayed in gray color is not active and that data will not be output. If pop-up message "Connect Android device to Windows PC and execute JMCHELPER.exe." appears, see JMC Helper application (page 4).

Music player settings

Music player selection: Selects the music player to play songs.

CONNECT TO JVC CAR AUDIO

You can connect your device to JVC car audio using a USB cable. And if your JVC car audio is ready for JVC Music Control, you can select and play songs from the song list of JVC Music Control (Genres, Artists, Albums, Playlists, Moods, Songs).

When Connecting for the First Time

Some types of devices may need to select a USB connection mode. In that case, select Mass Storage Class (MSC). If you select Media Transfer Protocol (MTP), your device cannot be recognized by JVC car audio. For the setting method, refer to the instruction manual of your device.

  1. Tap the Menu button on your device.
  2. Select [Preference] > [Auto output] or [Output right now] to output the song information.
  3. Connect your device to JVC car audio using a USB cable.
  4. Set the USB storage mode to ON. (Some types of devices may not display this).

JVC car audio recognizes the songs as JVC Music Control files. Refer to the instruction manual of JVC car audio for the operation.

Note: If pop-up message "Connect Android device to Windows PC and execute JMCHELPER.exe." appears, see JMC Helper application (page 4).

AAC-LC/LTP (.m4a, .aac) and PCM/WAVE (.wav) format files may sometimes be unplayable. For the playable file formats, refer to the instruction manual of the connected device or our website (https://www.jvckenwood.com/english/car/index.html).

JMC HELPER APPLICATION

Operation system required

  1. Connect your device to Windows PC, and execute "JMCHELPER.exe". "JMCHELPER.exe" is in the root directory of the internal storage or SD card.
  2. When the "JMCHELPER.exe" is completed, disconnect your device from PC.
  3. Start JVC Music Control.
  4. Tap the Menu button on your device.
  5. Select [Preference] > [Auto output] or [Output right now] to output the song information.

Note: If JMCHELPER.exe is not found, disconnect your device from PC, restart JVC Music Control, and then connect your device to PC. When a song is added or deleted, the song data for added or deleted song is not reflected to the database. Execute JMCHELPER.exe and then connect your device to JVC car audio.
