First Time Use: Salt, Rinse Aid, and Detergent
After installation, remove stoppers and retaining elements from racks.
Filling the Salt Reservoir
Salt prevents limescale buildup on dishes and components. It is mandatory that the salt reservoir is never empty. The reservoir is in the lower part of the dishwasher and must be filled when the [Salt Refill indicator light] is lit.
- Remove the lower rack and unscrew the reservoir cap (turn counter-clockwise).
- For the first use only: fill the salt reservoir with water.
- Position the funnel and fill the salt reservoir to its edge (approx. 1 kg); some water may leak out.
- Remove the funnel and wipe any salt residue from the opening.
- Ensure the cap is screwed on tightly to prevent detergent from entering the container, which could damage the water softener.
Adding salt must be completed before the start of a washing cycle to avoid corrosion. After filling, the [Salt Refill indicator light] switches off. Failure to fill the salt container can damage the water softener and heating element due to limescale accumulation. Using salt is recommended with any type of dishwasher detergent.
Setting the Water Hardness
To ensure the water softener works correctly, set the water hardness based on your local water supplier's information. The factory default is usually Level 2.
Procedure:
- Switch on the appliance using the ON/OFF button.
- Switch off the appliance using the ON/OFF button.
- Hold down the START/Pause button for 5 seconds until a beep is heard.
- Switch on the appliance using the ON/OFF button.
- The current selection level number and the [Salt indicator light] will flash.
- Press the Program selection button (P) to select the desired hardness level (refer to Water Hardness Table).
- Switch off the appliance using the ON/OFF button.
Water Hardness Table:
Level | Description | °dH (German degrees) | °fH (French degrees) | °Clark (English degrees) |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Soft | 0 - 6 | 0 - 10 | 0 - 7 |
2 | Medium | 7 - 11 | 11 - 20 | 8 - 14 |
3 | Average | 12 - 16 | 21 - 29 | 15 - 20 |
4 | Hard | 17 - 34 | 30 - 60 | 21 - 42 |
5 | Very hard | 35 - 50 | 61 - 90 | 43 - 62 |
Run a program without loading after setting the water hardness. Using salt is recommended with any type of dishwasher detergent.
Filling the Rinse Aid Dispenser
Rinse aid aids drying. The dispenser (A) should be filled when the [Rinse Aid Refill indicator light] is lit.
- Open dispenser B by pressing and pulling up the tab on the lid.
- Pour in rinse aid (max. 110 ml), avoiding overflow. Clean spills immediately with a dry cloth.
- Press the lid down until it clicks shut.
Never pour rinse aid directly into the appliance tub.
Adjusting the Dosage of Rinse Aid
If drying results are unsatisfactory, adjust the rinse aid quantity.
- Switch the dishwasher ON using the ON/OFF button.
- Switch it OFF using the ON/OFF button.
- Press the START/Pause button three times (a beep will be heard).

- The current selection level number and the [Rinse Aid indicator light] will flash.
- Press the Program selection button (P) to select the desired level (max 5 levels).
- Switch it OFF using the ON/OFF button.
Setting Level 1 (ECO) supplies no rinse aid. The [Low Rinse Aid indicator light] will not light up if you run out of rinse aid. If you see bluish streaks on dishes, set a lower number (2-3). If there are water drops or limescale marks, set a mid-range number (4-5).
Filling the Detergent Dispenser
Use the opening device C to open the detergent dispenser. Introduce detergent into the dry dispenser D only. Place pre-wash detergent directly in the tub.
- Dose detergent according to instructions. Dispenser D has markings for guidance.
- Remove detergent residue from dispenser edges and close the cover until it clicks.
- Close the dispenser lid by pulling it up until the closing device is secured.
The dispenser opens automatically at the right time. If using all-in-one detergents, use the [Tablet button] for optimal results. Using non-dishwasher detergent may cause malfunction or damage.

Advice and Tips
Tips
- Before loading, remove food residues and empty glasses. Pre-rinsing is not needed.
- Arrange crockery firmly so it doesn't tip. Load containers with openings downwards and concave/convex parts obliquely for water access and free flow.
- Ensure lids, handles, trays, and frying pans do not obstruct spray arms.
- Place small items in the cutlery basket.
- Very soiled dishes and pans should go in the lower basket for stronger spray.
- Ensure spray arms can rotate freely after loading.
Unsuitable Crockery
- Wooden crockery and cutlery.
- Delicate decorated glasses, artistic handicraft, and antique crockery (decorations may not be resistant).
- Synthetic parts not resistant to high temperatures.
- Copper and tin crockery.
- Crockery soiled with ash, wax, lubricating grease, or ink.
Colors of glass decorations and aluminum/silver pieces may change. Some glass types (e.g., crystal) can become opaque after a number of wash cycles.
Damage to Glass and Crockery
- Use only dishwasher-safe glasses and porcelain.
- Use a delicate detergent suitable for crockery.
- Unload glasses and cutlery as soon as the wash cycle is over.
Tips on Energy Saving
- Dishwasher use usually consumes less energy/water than hand washing when used per manufacturer's instructions.
- Initiate wash cycle when fully loaded for maximum efficiency. Loading to capacity saves energy and water.
- For partial loads, use dedicated options (Half load/Zone Wash, Multizone) and fill only selected racks.
- Manual pre-rinsing increases water/energy consumption and is not recommended.
Incorrect loading or overloading increases resource usage (water, energy, time), noise, and reduces cleaning/drying performance.
Hygiene
To avoid odors and sediment accumulation, run a high-temperature program at least once a month without loading, using a teaspoon of detergent.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning the Filter Assembly
Regularly clean the filter assembly to prevent clogging and ensure proper wastewater flow. Using the dishwasher with clogged filters or foreign objects can cause malfunction, reduced performance, noise, or higher resource usage. The filter assembly has three filters.
Check and clean thoroughly under running water at least once a month or after every 30 cycles, using a non-metallic brush:
- Turn the cylindrical filter A counter-clockwise and pull it out (refer to diagram description for Fig 1).
- Remove the cup filter B by exerting slight pressure on the side flaps (refer to diagram description for Fig 2).
- Slide out the stainless-steel plate filter C (refer to diagram description for Fig 3).
- Remove any foreign objects (broken glass, porcelain, bones, etc.).
- Inspect the trap and remove food residues. Never remove the wash-cycle pump protection (black detail) (refer to diagram description for Fig 4).
After cleaning, re-place the filter assembly correctly for efficient operation.
Cleaning the Spray Arms
Occasionally, food residue can block spray arm holes. Check arms periodically and clean with a small non-metallic brush.
To remove the upper spray arm, turn the plastic locking ring counter-clockwise. Replace with the side having more holes facing upwards.
The lower spray arm can be removed by pulling it upwards.
Water Softening System
The water softener automatically reduces hardness, preventing scale buildup and improving cleaning efficiency. It regenerates using salt; refill the salt container when empty. Regeneration frequency depends on water hardness setting (e.g., once per 6 Eco cycles for Level 3). Regeneration occurs during the final rinse and drying phases.
A single regeneration consumes approximately 3.5 L of water, takes up to 5 additional minutes, and uses less than 0.005 kWh of energy.
Cleaning the Water Inlet Hose
If water hoses are new or unused for a long time, run water to clear impurities before connecting. Failure to do so may block the inlet and damage the dishwasher.
