Black & Decker CTO8101 Toaster Oven
Model: CTO8101
Important Initial Operation Note
ATTENTION: Read this before operating your oven for the first time.
Rack Placement Instructions
IMPORTANT: Do not operate this oven without the Bottom Slide Rack in place.
- Unpack the 2 Slide Racks. Rinse them in hot, sudsy water before first use, and dry thoroughly.
- Place each Slide Rack onto the oven's internal supports. Push each rack as far back as it will go until it clicks or drops into place.
- You do not have to use BOTH racks at all times. For taller foods such as chicken or roasts, you may remove the Top Rack.
- Always place the Oven Pan (or Oven Pan containing the Broil Rack) onto the Bottom Slide Rack before cooking, baking, broiling, or defrosting. Most food intended for toasting (bread, muffins, bagels, etc.) can be placed directly onto the Bottom Slide Rack.
- To remove either of the 2 Slide Racks, open the oven door and push the rack as far back as it will go. Lift it up and out as you slide the Rack forward.
Top Rack Usage
The Top Rack can be used for warming hors d'oeuvres, pastries, or baking a small frozen pizza. Do not use the Top Rack for delicate foods (such as fish or chicken) when you want less browning.
For most foods such as frozen pizza, you will get the best results by switching the food from the Top and Bottom Racks midway through the cooking cycle for more even cooking and browning. Be sure to choose pans that will fit both racks.
Using the Worry-Free-Timer™
For the oven to operate, you MUST turn the timer dial to a selected time or to the “Always On" position.
When using the timer, the oven will shut off automatically when the time is up. When using the "Always On" function, be sure to turn the oven off manually after cooking.
For more information, consult the Use & Care manual.
