The original BJFE Purple Humper was designed to increase the output of a 60s Stratocaster to ES-335 levels, providing a richer, more powerful tone regardless of pickups. One Control's version honors this rare pedal, offering a sweet spot between a warm buffer and a powerful mid-boost.

Unlike other mid-boost pedals, the Purple Humper preserves your guitar's natural tone while adding a warm, dynamic mid-range, giving any amp a vintage British voice. It revitalizes sterile solid-state amps with classic rock mojo.

Use it as a preamp, a solo booster, or to enhance your existing distortion pedals. It complements various pickups, from single coils to humbuckers and P-90s, maintaining your tone.

Controls and Connections

Set the BLEND knob to your desired midboost level.
For a left-of-center BLEND setting, try placing distortion pedals before the Purple Humper.

Experiment with your guitar and amplifier to find your ideal sound. The order of pedals in your chain matters when using the Purple Humper with distortion.

Start with a clean sound and gradually add grit to taste.
