Product Description
The One Control Blue Bee OD 4K Mini Custom is a limited custom version of the Blue Bee OD 4K Mini, an overdrive that combines transparent amplifier-like overdrive with more gain than other pedals in our Bee series. The Blue Bee OD 4K Mini Custom adds more thickness than the normal version, especially with single-coil pickups in mind.
The One Control Blue Bee OD 4K Mini is a legendary amplifier-like pedal and one of the best-known BJFE overdrives, a custom model based on the Honey Bee OD. It is an improved version of the overdrive, with features that many BJF players had requested after playing the original Honey Bee OD.
Although the BBOD4K is a mini-pedal that can be installed without taking up space on various pedalboards, BJF's own long-term research has made it possible to reproduce the original sound, even with small SMD components. The design method differs between conventional handmade pedals that use through-hole components and mini-style pedals. In the mini-pedal, there is an influence of "ghost components" that do not exist as "components" and do not appear on the circuit, so if you just make it with the same schematic, the sound will be different. BJF reproduced the sound of the original BJFE pedal, taking into account all effects, from the characteristics of the components to the ghost components. The result is a mini-format pedal that BJF itself is satisfied with. And we also use BJF's art style for the pedal design.
The characteristics of a flat low-end reminiscent of American combo amps and the sound created by the sharp and tight top-end remain the same, with an added overtone component and more gain. It's a tone that seems a step closer to modern than our Silver Bee OD. Although the distortion itself is strong, it is an excellent sound that manages to balance transparency and amplification.
The 2-band equalizer has a wide range, allowing you to easily adjust your tone's balance. The smooth response of the controls also leads to ease of use. The T knob can control the brightness of the tone, both high-frequency components and overtone components, creating a drive tone with a beautiful metallic sound. The B knob is centered on critical low-mid frequencies and can be adjusted according to the characteristics of the stage, amplifier, and guitar.
The Blue Bee has a sound with a bit of added thickness, while retaining the expressive power to easily control the tone with your fingers, delivering extra gain and articulation with playing dynamics.
Controls
- V: Adjusts the overall volume.
- D: Adjusts the drive strength.
- T: Controls the tone, emphasizing high-frequency components.
- B: Adjusts the tone balance according to the amplifier's characteristics, primarily around the low-mids.
