Nikon Z50 II Camera
This document provides instructions for the Nikon Z50 II camera, model name N2318. It covers initial setup, basic operations, photography, videography, playback, care, and troubleshooting.

Getting Started
Camera Setup
Before using the camera for the first time, set the language, time zone, and date.
- Press the MENU button, navigate to the SETUP MENU, and select [Language].
- Choose your preferred language.
- Select [Time zone and date] and set the time zone, date, and time.
- Enable or disable Daylight Saving Time as needed.
- Set the date and time using the multi-selector.
- Choose the date format.
- Exit the menus by pressing the shutter button halfway.
Attaching the Strap
Follow the instructions to attach the camera strap.
Inserting the Battery and Memory Card
Ensure the camera is off before inserting or removing the battery and memory card.
Battery Insertion: Hold the orange battery latch and slide the battery in until it locks.
Memory Card Insertion: Insert the memory card as shown until it clicks into place.
Charging the Battery
Charge the included EN-EL25a rechargeable lithium-ion battery before use.
Connect the camera to the EH-8P AC adapter using the supplied USB cable. The charging indicator light will be yellow while charging and turn off when charging is complete.
Charging a fully depleted battery takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The camera battery can also be charged using third-party AC adapters that support USB Power Delivery (PD) and have USB Type-C connectors, with a minimum power output of 15W (5V/3A).
Attaching a Lens
The camera is compatible with Z-mount lenses. The NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR is used for illustrations.
Remove the body cap and rear lens cap. Align the mounting marks on the camera and lens, then rotate the lens until it clicks into place.
For lenses with retractable barrels, extend the barrel before use.
Taking Photos (Auto Mode)
- Turn the photo/movie mode dial to the camera icon (O).
- Turn the mode dial to AUTO ().
- Remove the front lens cap.
- Compose your photo.
- Press the shutter button halfway to focus.
- Press the shutter button fully to take the picture.
Recording Videos (Auto Mode)
- Turn the photo/movie mode dial to the movie icon ().
- Turn the mode dial to AUTO ().
- Press the movie record button to start recording. The recording indicator light will illuminate, and the edges of the display will turn red.
- Press the movie record button again to stop recording.
Playback
Press the playback button to view photos and videos on the display or in the viewfinder.
Navigate between images by pressing or or swiping the screen. Videos are indicated by a movie icon. Press the button or tap the icon to play videos.
Press the shutter button halfway to exit playback and return to shooting mode.
Camera Care
Long-Term Storage
If the camera will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery. Store the camera in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from strong electromagnetic fields and extreme temperatures (above 50°C or below -10°C).
Cleaning
- Camera Body: Remove dust with a blower and wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For sand or salt, wipe with a cloth lightly dampened with clean water and dry thoroughly.
- Lens and Viewfinder: Remove dust with a blower. For fingerprints, use a lens cleaning cloth with a small amount of lens cleaner.
Do not touch the image sensor.
Display/Viewfinder
The display is made with high precision, but some pixels may be always lit or always dark. This is not a malfunction.
Avoid pressing the display. If the display breaks, be careful of broken glass and avoid contact with the liquid crystal.
If you experience discomfort while using the viewfinder, stop use until you feel better.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, try the following steps:
- Consult the troubleshooting section of the user manual for common problems and solutions.
- Turn the camera off, remove the battery, wait a minute, reinsert the battery, and turn the camera back on.
- Check the Nikon website for support information and FAQs.
- Download the latest firmware from the Nikon download center.
- If problems persist, contact an authorized Nikon service representative.
Warranty Information
This product comes with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of original purchase.
To obtain warranty service, contact the seller or an authorized service center. Proof of purchase (filled warranty card and original receipt) is required.
