1 Important Safety Information

Read these instructions. Pay attention to all warnings. Follow all instructions. Do not block any ventilation openings. Do not place the unit near heat sources such as radiators, heat exchangers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, open flames, or heat. Do not expose the unit to dripping or splashing. Place the unit on a flat, firm, and stable surface. Do not place objects on the unit that could pose a hazard (e.g., containers filled with liquids, burning candles). Do not place this unit on top of other electrical equipment. Only use the attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer. Never open the unit's casing. All servicing must be performed by qualified personnel. If the unit is damaged in any way, such as the power cord or plug, if liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the unit, if the unit has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped, it requires servicing. Do not expose the battery (battery pack or installed battery) to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, etc. Risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly. Replace only with the same or an equivalent type. 3 Getting Started

Charging the Built-in Battery

The portable radio is powered by a rechargeable built-in battery.

Note: The [battery low icon] appears when the battery power is low. Recharge the built-in battery as soon as possible.

Connect the portable radio to a power source using the Type-C cable (5V = 2A).

The [charging icon] is displayed when the portable radio is charging. The [fully charged icon] is displayed when the portable radio is fully charged.

Note: Your device contains built-in lithium batteries. The charging capacity of lithium batteries decreases over time due to self-discharge characteristics. To ensure a long battery life, it is recommended to charge the built-in battery to approximately 50% every 6 months when the device is not in use.

Powering On/Off or Switching to Standby Mode

Press the [Power button] to turn on the device.

The radio will switch to the last selected source.

Press the [Power button] to switch to standby mode.

The time (if set) will be displayed.

Note: If a Bluetooth device is not connected for over 15 minutes, or if it is connected but not playing, the radio will automatically switch to standby mode. To turn off the device directly in any mode, press and hold the [Power button] for three seconds. The display will turn off.

Adjusting Volume

Turn the tuning dial to adjust the volume while listening.

Adjusting Display Brightness

You can set the screen brightness to different levels or turn off the display.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Display], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Backlight level], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select the screen brightness level (High, Medium, Low), then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu button] to exit the menu.

Displaying Information in Standby Mode

You can access the control settings menu when the device is in standby mode.

  1. In standby mode, press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select a menu parameter, then press the SELECT button to confirm or move to the next level menu. Options include:
    • [Display]: Adjust backlight settings/dimmer, and set standby timeout.
    • [Alarm]: Turn alarms on/off and set alarm parameters.
    • [Clock]: Synchronize time, set date/time, and choose time and date formats.
    • [System]: Adjust system parameters.
  3. If a parameter has sub-options, repeat step 2.
  4. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

4 Setting the Clock

Automatic Time Setting

Note: The menu will close automatically if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Clock], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Set auto/manual], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Auto(DAB/RDS)], then press the SELECT button to confirm.

When receiving DAB/FM RDS stations, the device can automatically synchronize the time via station information.

Manual Time Setting

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Clock], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Set date&time], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select the hour, then press the SELECT button to confirm. The minutes will flash.
  5. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄◄/►► buttons] to set the minutes, then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  6. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select the month, then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  7. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select the day, then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  8. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select the year, then press the SELECT button to confirm.

The time is now set.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

Setting Time Format

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Clock], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Set 12H/24H], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [12H] or [24H], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

Setting Date Format

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Clock], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Set date format], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄◄/►► buttons] to select [MM-DD-YYYY], [DD-MM-YYYY], or [YYYY-MM-DD], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

Clock Style

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Clock], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Clock style], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Classic analog] or [Normal digital], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

5 Alarm Settings

Setting the Time

Note: Ensure the clock is set correctly.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Alarm], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Alarm 1 Setup] or [Alarm 2 Setup], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Wake up time], then press the SELECT button to confirm. The hours will flash.
  5. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set the hours, then press the SELECT button to confirm. The minutes will flash.
  6. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set the minutes, then press the SELECT button to confirm.

If the alarm period is set to [Once], use the [◄/► buttons] to set the alarm day.

  1. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set [Frequency], then press the SELECT button to confirm. The alarm cycle will flash.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set the alarm cycle (Once, Daily, Weekdays, or Weekends), then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set [Source], then press the SELECT button to confirm. The alarm source will flash.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set the alarm source (BUZZER, DAB, or FM station), then press the SELECT button to confirm.

If [DAB] or [FM] is selected as the alarm source (default is BUZZER), an additional [Source] option will appear in the alarm menu. Use the [◄/► buttons] to select the preset DAB or FM station number and press SELECT to confirm.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

The corresponding alarm icon [alarm icon] will appear on the screen.

Tip: If the device is idle for 30 seconds, it will automatically exit the alarm setting mode. If DAB/FM is selected as the alarm source but no preset stations are selected, the BUZZER will activate automatically. The alarm will automatically turn off after 60 minutes if no user action is taken.

Turning Alarm On/Off

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Alarm], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Alarm 1] or [Alarm 2], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [On] or [Off], then press the SELECT button to confirm whether to enable or disable the alarm timer.
  5. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

If the alarm timer is enabled, the [alarm icon] will appear. If the alarm timer is disabled, the [alarm icon] will not appear.

Snooze and Sleep Timer

Snooze

  1. When the alarm sounds, press the [Snooze button] [ZZ button].

The alarm will be snoozed and will sound again after 10 minutes (default 10 minutes).

To change the snooze interval (in minutes), press the [Snooze button] [ZZ button] again.

Options: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 minutes.

  1. To stop the snooze function, press and hold the [Power button] [O button] or the [Snooze button] [ZZ button] for three seconds. The alarm will stop.

Disabling Alarm Sound

When the alarm sounds, press the [Snooze button] [ZZ button] to disable the alarm sound and enter snooze mode, or press the [Power button] [O button] to completely disable the alarm sound.

The alarm will stop, but the alarm settings will be saved.

Setting Sleep Timer

This portable radio can automatically switch to standby mode after the sleep timer expires.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Press the [Snooze button] [ZZ button] to select the sleep time.

Press the [Snooze button] [ZZ button] multiple times to select the sleep time.

Options: Off, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 minutes.

To disable the sleep timer: Repeat the steps described above and set the sleep timer to the Off state.

6 Listening to DAB Radio

Note: Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to prevent radio interference. Fully extend and adjust the position of the DAB/FM antenna for optimal signal reception.

Tuning to DAB Stations

When the DAB radio mode is first selected or if the station list is empty, the radio will automatically perform a full scan.

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Press the [Source button] [♪ button] to select DAB mode.

Scanning... will be displayed.

The radio will automatically scan all DAB stations and tune to the first available station.

The station list will be displayed on the radio. Scanning will not be performed the next time the radio is turned on.

  1. To view all found stations, press the [◄◄/►► buttons] to browse the station list, then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  2. To retune, press and hold the [SCAN button] for three seconds to perform a quick scan.

Alternatively:

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the DAB menu, then select [Full scan] by turning the tuning dial or pressing the [◄/► buttons] and press SELECT to confirm. Select [Yes] (to perform a full scan) or [No] by turning the tuning dial or pressing the [◄/► buttons], then press SELECT to confirm.

Manual Tuning

You can manually tune the receiver, similar to the automatic tuning function. This is useful for precisely aiming the antenna or finding stations not detected during automatic tuning.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the DAB menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Manual tune], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select DAB channels numbered from 5A to 13F, then press SELECT to confirm.

The device will display the frequency and start scanning.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to exit the menu.

Saving DAB Stations

Note: You can manually save up to 20 DAB stations.

  1. Tune to a DAB station in DAB mode.
  2. Press and hold the [Preset button] for three seconds to activate programming mode.

The preset list will be displayed on the screen.

  1. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select a number.
  2. Press the SELECT button to save the preset station.

Preset xx Stored will be displayed on the screen.

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 5 to save additional DAB stations.

Tip: To delete a preset station, simply save another station in its place, provided the number of preset stations exceeds 20.

Selecting Stations

Note: You can save preset stations directly using the 1 or 2 buttons.

  1. Tune to a DAB station in DAB mode.
  2. Press and hold the 1 or 2 button for three seconds to directly save the current station to the corresponding slot (save number).

[Preset 1 or 2 stored] will be displayed.

The preset number and station frequency will be shown.

To directly select a preset DAB station (1 or 2), press the 1 or 2 button.

Selecting Preset Stations

  1. Tune to a DAB station in DAB mode.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select a preset station, then press the SELECT button to confirm.

Preset stations are confirmed automatically after 3 seconds.

Pruning Stations

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the DAB menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄◄/►► buttons] to select [Prune], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Yes] (to delete all invalid stations from the station list) or [No], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu button] to exit the menu.

DRC (Dynamic Range Control)

DRC compresses the volume of quiet sounds and reduces the volume of loud sounds when the radio signal is compressed.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the DAB menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [DRC level], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄◄/►► buttons] to select [High], [Low], or [Off], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu button] to exit the menu.

Displaying DAB Information

When listening to DAB radio, press and hold the [Menu button] for three seconds to display the following information:

7 Listening to FM Radio

Automatic Tuning

Note: Keep the portable radio away from other electronic devices to prevent radio interference. Fully extend and adjust the position of the DAB/FM antenna for optimal signal reception.

  1. Turn on the device by pressing the [Power button].
  2. Press the [Source button] to select FM mode.

Press and hold the [Tuning button] [►► button] for 3 seconds.

The portable radio will automatically tune to stations with strong reception.

Manual Tuning

Press the [Tuning button] [◄◄/►► buttons] to select the frequency and manually tune.

Note: The tuning grid for the portable radio is 50 KHz. The frequency displayed increases by 0.05 MHz when you press the [◄/► buttons].

Automatically Searching and Saving FM Stations

Note: You can save up to 20 FM stations.

Press the [SCAN button] for three seconds in FM mode.

[Auto Scanning...] will be displayed.

The radio will automatically search, save all FM stations, and tune to the first available station.

Saving FM Stations Manually

  1. Tune to an FM station in FM tuning mode.

Press and hold the [Preset button] [♥ button] for three seconds to activate programming mode.

The preset list will be displayed on the screen.

  1. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄◄/►► buttons] to select a number.
  2. Press the SELECT button to save the preset station.

Repeat steps 1 to 4 to save more FM stations.

Tip: To delete a preset station, if the number of preset stations exceeds 20, simply save another station in its place.

Selecting Stations

  1. Tune to an FM station in FM tuning mode.
  2. Press and hold the 1 or 2 button for three seconds to directly save the current station to the corresponding slot (save number).

[Preset 1 or 2 stored] will be displayed.

To directly select a preset FM station (1 or 2), press the 1 or 2 button.

Selecting Preset Stations

  1. Tune to an FM station in FM tuning mode.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select a preset station, then press the SELECT button to confirm.

Preset stations are confirmed automatically after 3 seconds.

Sensitivity Settings Scan

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the FM menu.
  2. Press the SELECT button to enter [Scan setting].
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Strong] (strong stations only) or [All] (all stations), then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu button] to exit the menu.

Displaying RDS Information

RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to display additional information.

  1. Tune to an FM RDS station.

Press and hold the [Menu button] for three seconds to view the following news (if available):

    • [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.

    • [Alarm]: Turn alarms on/off and set alarm parameters.
    • [Clock]: Synchronize time, set date/time, and choose time and date formats.
    • [System]: Adjust system parameters.
  3. If a parameter has sub-options, repeat step 2.
  4. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

Note: The menu will close automatically if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

8 Bluetooth® Music Playback

Note: The operating range of the device is approximately 25 meters (in open areas). Compatibility with all Bluetooth® devices is not guaranteed. Any obstacle between the device and the unit may reduce signal strength. Place the unit away from other electronic devices that may cause interference. The device will be disconnected if moved out of the operating range.

Connecting via Bluetooth®

  1. Press the [Source button] [♪ button] to select Bluetooth mode.

[Not Connected] will be displayed.

  1. Enable Bluetooth on your Bluetooth device, find [Philips TAV2000DB] and select it to start pairing.

When successfully connected:

You will hear an audio signal.

[Connected] will be displayed.

Disconnecting Bluetooth®

Switch to another source on the device;

Disconnect the device from Bluetooth.

OR

Press and hold the [Source button] [♪ button] for three seconds to disconnect the Bluetooth connection.

When successfully disconnected:

You will hear an audio signal.

[Pairing] will be displayed.

Clearing Bluetooth® Pairing Records

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Press the SELECT button to select [Bluetooth pair].
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Yes] (to disconnect the Bluetooth connection and enter pairing mode), then press the SELECT button to confirm.

Clearing Bluetooth® Pairing Records (cont.)

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Bluetooth clean], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Yes] to disconnect the current connection or [No] to keep the connection, then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Press the [Menu button] to exit the menu.

[Pairing] will be displayed.

Playing Music

You can use this device to control music playback from your Bluetooth device.

Press the SELECT button to pause/resume playback.

Press the [Skip button] [►► button] to skip tracks.

Turn the dial to adjust the volume.

Bluetooth® Menu

You can access the control settings menu when listening via Bluetooth®.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the Bluetooth menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select a menu parameter, then press the SELECT button to confirm or move to the next level menu.
    • [Bluetooth pair]: Select to disconnect from Bluetooth and enter pairing mode.
    • [Bluetooth clean]: Clear Bluetooth pairing records.
    • [Kitchen timer]: Set the kitchen timer.
    • [Sleep timer]: Set the sleep timer.
    • [Display]: Adjust backlight settings/dimmer, and set standby timeout.
    • [Alarm]: Turn alarms on/off and set alarm parameters.
    • [Clock]: Synchronize time, set date/time, and choose time and date formats.
    • [System]: Adjust system parameters.
  3. If a parameter has sub-options, repeat step 2.
  4. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

Note: The menu will close automatically if no button is pressed for 30 seconds.

9 Kitchen Timer Settings

Note: If the device is idle for 30 seconds, it will automatically exit the menu.

10. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

The [kitchen timer icon] will appear.

Note: The kitchen timer will automatically turn off after 60 minutes if no user action is taken.

Setting the Kitchen Timer

  1. Turn on the device by pressing the [Power button].
  2. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Kitchen timer], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Kitchen timer setup], then press the SELECT button to confirm.

Alternatively: Press and hold the [Snooze button] [ZZ button] to access the kitchen timer.

The hour digits will flash.

  1. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set the hours, then press the SELECT button to confirm. The minute digits will flash.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set the minutes, then press the SELECT button to confirm. The second digits will flash.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to set the seconds, then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [On/Off], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  5. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [On] (to enable) or [Off] (to disable) the kitchen timer, then press the SELECT button to confirm.

Muting the Kitchen Timer Sound

Press any button when the kitchen timer sounds to mute the sound.

Turning Off the Kitchen Timer

  1. To turn off the kitchen timer, enter the menu by pressing the [Menu button].
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Kitchen timer], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [On/Off], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Off], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  5. Press the [Menu button] to exit the menu.

Note: The kitchen timer can only be turned off when the device is on.

Selecting Menu Language

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [System], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Language], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select the menu language, then press the SELECT button to confirm.

Available languages: English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Norsk, Dansk, Nederlands, Svenska, Español, Suomi, Polski.

  1. Press the [Menu button] to return to the previous level.

Restoring Factory Settings

  1. Press the [Menu button] to enter the menu.
  2. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [System], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  3. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Factory reset], then press the SELECT button to confirm.
  4. Turn the tuning dial or press the [◄/► buttons] to select [Yes] (to restore all device settings to factory defaults), then press the SELECT button to confirm.

[Restarting...] will be displayed.

Listening via Headphones

Connect headphones to the [Headphone Jack] located on the back of the main unit.
