Key Recommendations
- Read this instruction manual carefully before making any connections. Any connection to the amplifier input or output must be made with the amplifier turned off.
- Observe the polarity of the power supply wiring (battery positive and negative) and speaker connections, as well as the minimum amplifier impedance.
- It is mandatory to install fuses for protection against overload. The fuse or circuit breaker must be installed as close as possible to the battery and sized according to the amplifier.
- The gauge of the power supply wires is crucial for obtaining the desired amplifier power and for safety. Follow the wire gauge recommendations in this manual. Using smaller gauges will cause power loss and cable overheating. Power supply cables should be as short as possible.
- The amplifier must be installed in a firm, ventilated, and dry location.
- Signal cables (RCA) should be routed separately from the vehicle's original wiring or other power supply cables to avoid interference.
- Installation should be performed by a qualified professional.
Taramps reserves the right to modify the content of this manual without prior notice.
Functions and Inputs
1 - INPUT (RCA): Inputs for signals to be amplified. Connect to the RCA outputs of the CD/DVD Player using good quality shielded cables to avoid noise interference.
2 - LEVEL: Adjusts the amplifier's input sensitivity for optimal adjustment to the output signal levels of most CD/DVD Players on the market.
3 - CROSSOVER: Configures the amplifier's operating mode:
- FULL: Amplifies the entire audio range (10Hz to 36KHz). Used when an external crossover is present in the system.
- HPF (High Pass Filter): Amplifies signals from 90Hz upwards. Suitable for mid-bass, mid-range speakers, and tweeters.
- LPF (Low Pass Filter): Amplifies only bass and sub-bass frequencies, with a cutoff at 90Hz (-12dB/8ª), ideal for subwoofers.
LED Indicator
ON: When lit, indicates that the amplifier is on.
Output and Power Supply Connector
Output
Connect speakers following the indicated polarity and minimum impedance recommendations.
- DS 800X4 (1 Ohm): Minimum impedance is 1 ohm per channel in STEREO mode; 2 ohms in BRIDGED mode.
- DS 800X4 (2 Ohms): Minimum impedance is 2 ohms per channel in STEREO mode; 4 ohms in BRIDGED mode.
For speaker combinations, the resulting impedance must be considered. Examples are provided in the manual.
Power (Power Supply Connector)
The (+) terminal connects to the battery's positive pole with a minimum 10mm² (7 AWG) wire. The (-) terminal connects to the battery's negative pole with a wire of equivalent gauge. The remote terminal connects to the Head Unit's REMOTE output with a 0.75mm² (18 AWG) wire.
Required battery bank capacity: Minimum 60Ah.
Protection System
Short-circuit Protection: Shuts down the amplifier if a short circuit or impedance lower than supported is detected at the output.
