Functions, Inputs & Outputs
Diagram Description (Rear Panel): The rear panel of the BASS 30K amplifier features several connection points:
- 1. INPUT: Audio signal input. Connect to the RCA outputs of your CD/DVD Player using good quality shielded cables to prevent noise interference.
- 2. THRU OUT: This output can send the same input signal (INPUT) to another amplifier.
- 3. LEVEL: Adjusts the amplifier's input sensitivity, allowing for optimal matching with the output signal levels of most CD/DVD Players.
- 4. SUBSONIC: Variable adjustment from 8Hz to 30Hz, determining the start of the amplifier's operating frequency range.
- 5. LOW PASS: Variable adjustment from 60Hz to 250Hz, determining the end of the amplifier's operating frequency range.
- 6. FREQ.: Sets the center frequency for the Bass Boost feature, adjustable from 35Hz to 60Hz.
- 7. BASS BOOST: Provides reinforcement for sub-bass frequencies, with a variable gain range from 0 to +12dB.
- 8. REMOTE TERMINAL: Connect this to the CD/DVD Player's remote output using a 0.75 mm² (18 AWG) cable.
- 9. SPEAKER: Output terminals (positive and negative) for connecting loudspeakers. Follow the indicated polarity and the minimum recommended impedance. When combining loudspeakers, the resulting impedance must be considered.
Diagram Description (Speaker Impedance): Illustrates two 2 OHM speakers connected in parallel, resulting in a total impedance of 1 OHM.
⚠️ CAUTION: Due to the presence of voltage at the output terminals when the product is ON, avoid contact. Risk of electric shock.
- 10. COOLERS (Fans): The BASS 30K is equipped with four internal ventilation fans. These must not be obstructed. For optimal performance, install the amplifier in a cool and well-ventilated location. It is recommended not to embed the unit, allowing air to circulate freely throughout its interior to prevent thermal protection from activating.
⚠️ CAUTION: The fans and ventilation openings are essential for cooling the amplifier during use and must not be obstructed.
Power Supply Connector
Diagram Description (Power Terminals): The amplifier features two main power terminals.
- 1. NEGATIVE POWER SUPPLY TERMINAL: Use a 2 x 70mm² (2/0 AWG) cable, as short as possible, connected to the negative battery pole.
- 2. POSITIVE POWER SUPPLY TERMINAL: Use a 2 x 70mm² (2/0 AWG) cable directly from the positive battery terminal. Install a fuse (1160A) as close to the battery as possible.
Recommendation: It is advised that all cable ends be tinned to ensure better electrical contact. Utilize all available power inputs.
⚠️ CAUTION: Before making any connections to the power terminals, ensure the vehicle battery's negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
LED Indicators & Protection System
- ON (BLUE LED): Indicates that the amplifier is powered on.
- CLIP (YELLOW LED): Indicates the amplifier is operating at the threshold of distortion or excessive temperature. If the red LED also blinks, it signifies excessive distortion.
- PROT (RED LED): Indicates a short circuit at the amplifier's output or an impedance lower than the equipment can tolerate. It also indicates if the supply voltage is below 9V or above 17V.
Protection Systems:
- SHORT-CIRCUIT PROTECTION: Shuts down the audio output if a short circuit or impedance lower than supported is detected at the output.
- THERMAL PROTECTION: Activates when the amplifier reaches a high internal temperature. Audio output is interrupted, the yellow LED flashes continuously, and the internal fans remain on until the temperature returns to normal operating levels. Do not turn off the amplifier during this condition to allow for faster cooling.
- HIGH/LOW SUPPLY VOLTAGE: If the supply voltage drops below 9V, the PROT (RED) LED will flash 2 times intermittently. If the voltage exceeds 17V, the PROT (RED) LED will flash 3 times intermittently. The protection system will trigger, cutting off the audio signal. The amplifier will only resume normal operation after being switched off and then on again, provided the supply voltage is between 9V and 17V.
Installation
⚠️ CAUTION: All connections to power supply, input, and output connectors must be carried out only when the amplifier is OFF.
