Important Regulations and Warnings
National Guidelines: Always observe national guidelines concerning official approval of extensions and vehicle modifications.
Prohibited Modifications: Any alteration or conversion of the tow bar is strictly prohibited and will result in the cancellation of the type approval.
Vehicle Preparation: Remove any insulating compound or underseal from the vehicle's chassis where the tow bar will make contact.
Intended Use: The tow bar is designed for towing trailers fitted with ball couplings and for use with load-bearing implements approved for attachment to the tow bar. Any other use is prohibited.
Parking Assist Systems: Vehicles equipped with a Parking Distance Control (PDC) system may experience malfunctions after tow bar installation. This is because parts of the tow bar (ball bar, ball coupling) might be within the sensors' detection area. If this occurs, the detection area should be readjusted, or the PDC system deactivated. Malfunctions are not expected if detachable or pivoted ball bars are used and removed from their operating position.
Subject to alteration.
Technical Specifications

Parts Included
The installation kit typically includes:
- Tow bar main frame (Part 1)
- Detachable ball mount (Part 2)
- Various brackets and support arms (e.g., Parts 3, 4, 5)
- Hardware:
- 2x M12x80 (10.9) bolts
- 8x M10x40 (10.9) bolts

- 8x 10.5x30x2.5 washers
- 2x M12 (10) nuts
Installation Instructions
Follow these steps carefully for proper installation:
Step 1: Vehicle Preparation
Access the rear underside of the vehicle. Remove any bumper components if necessary, following vehicle manufacturer guidelines.
Ensure the mounting surfaces on the vehicle chassis are clean and free from insulating compound or underseal.
Step 2: Mounting the Tow Bar Frame
Attach the main tow bar frame (Part 1) to the vehicle's chassis mounting points using the provided hardware. This typically involves using the M10x40 bolts and 10.5x30x2.5 washers. Ensure all bolts are loosely fitted initially.
Attach support arms (e.g., Parts 4, 5) to the chassis and the tow bar frame using the appropriate M10 bolts and washers.
Diagram Description: Images show the tow bar frame and support arms being bolted to the vehicle's chassis, with close-ups of the mounting points and hardware.
Step 3: Securing the Tow Bar
Once all components are in place, tighten all M10 bolts securely. The recommended torque for M10 bolts is 55 Nm.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows a torque wrench being used to tighten an M10 bolt to 55 Nm.
Step 4: Bumper Modification (if required)
For Ford Focus models, a cutout may be required in the rear bumper. The dimensions are approximately 90mm wide, 380mm from the edge, and 40mm deep.
For Ford Focus C-Max models, the cutout dimensions are approximately 90mm wide, 380mm from the edge, and 80mm deep.
Diagram Description: Diagrams illustrate the rear bumper of the Ford Focus and Focus C-Max, showing the precise location and dimensions for the necessary cutout. A symbol indicates proper disposal of cut material.
Step 5: Attaching the Ball Mount
Insert the detachable ball mount (Part 2) into the tow bar frame (Part 1). Secure it using the M12x80 bolts and 13x24x2.5 washers.
Tighten the M12 bolts to the specified torque of 95 Nm.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows the ball mount being inserted into the tow bar receiver and secured with M12 bolts. A torque wrench symbol indicates the 95 Nm tightening specification.
Step 6: Final Checks and Clearance
Ensure all connections are secure and all hardware is tightened to the correct torque specifications.
Clearance Requirements:
- Minimum clearance from the ground: 32mm
- Minimum clearance from the bumper edge: 55mm
- Maximum angle for tow ball: 45°
- Maximum distance from tow ball center to bumper edge: 100mm
- Minimum distance from tow ball center to vehicle side: 65mm
- Maximum distance from tow ball center to vehicle side: 140mm
- Maximum radius for tow ball attachment point: R 14.5
- Maximum radius for tow ball attachment point: R 40
- Maximum angle for tow ball attachment: 30°
- Minimum distance from tow ball center to vehicle side: 75mm
Diagram Description: Diagrams illustrate various clearance measurements and angles required around the tow ball assembly.
Step 7: Vehicle Weight Ratings
Refer to the vehicle's documentation for gross vehicle weight ratings and maximum towing capacities.
Diagram Description: Diagrams show weight limits (e.g., 21kg) and distance/time indicators (0km, 1000km) related to usage or maintenance.
Declaration of Correct Installation
A declaration form is provided for the installer to confirm that the tow bar has been installed correctly according to the manufacturer's specifications and the vehicle's attachment points. The user must also be informed about the use and maintenance of the device.
