Controls and Features
1. Loud Knob
Controls the distortion output level. Clockwise increases output level; counter-clockwise decreases it.
2. Low Knob
Adjusts the boost or cut of low frequencies. Clockwise boosts low frequencies; counter-clockwise cuts them.
3. AC Adapter Jack
Connects to a DigiTech PS200R power supply. Ensure the supply matches your area's mains line voltage.
4. High Knob
Adjusts the boost or cut of high frequencies. Clockwise boosts high frequencies; counter-clockwise cuts them.
5. Grunge Knob
Controls the amount of distortion. Clockwise increases distortion; counter-clockwise decreases it.
6. Input Jack
Connect your instrument here. Connecting a guitar cable activates battery power, even if the Indicator LED is not lit. Disconnect all cables when not in use to conserve battery life.
7. Pedal Release Pins
Spring-loaded pins that secure the pedal. Push these pins to release the pedal from the chassis, allowing access to the battery compartment.
8. Pedal
Press the pedal to toggle the effect on or off.
9. Out 1 (Amp) Jack
Connect this output to your guitar amplifier.
10. Indicator LED
Indicates when the effect is active. If the LED dims or fails to light when cables are connected, the battery needs replacement.
11. Out 2 (Mixer) Jack
Features DigiTech's speaker cabinet emulation for direct connection to a mixer or recorder, bypassing the need for a guitar amplifier.
Connections and Setup
The Grunge pedal features a single input (INPUT) and two outputs: AMP and MIXER. The AMP output is for connecting to a guitar amplifier. The MIXER output utilizes DigiTech's speaker cabinet emulation, providing an authentic guitar amplifier sound when connecting directly to a mixing console or recording device.
Setup Directions:
- Turn down the volume on the amplifier/mixer you are connecting to.
- Connect the pedal's output (Out 1 or Out 2) to the amplifier/mixer input.
- Connect your guitar to the pedal's input jack.
- Connect the optional power supply to the pedal.
- Set the pedal's level control to the minimum position.
- Turn up your amplifier/mixer level to your desired listening volume.
- Turn on the pedal by pressing the pedal switch and gradually increase the level to your desired listening volume.

The pedal has two outputs: one labeled "OUT 1 (AMP)" connecting to an "AMPLIFIER", and another labeled "OUT 2 (MIXER)" connecting to a "MIXER". An optional PS200R power supply is shown connected to the pedal.
Battery Replacement
- Using the tip of a 1/4" guitar cable, push one of the release pins on the side of the pedal to detach it from the chassis.
- Open the battery compartment and disconnect the old battery cable.
- Connect a new battery to the cable and place it in the compartment. Ensure the battery cable does not obstruct the spring or pedal switch arm.
- Align one hole of the pedal with its corresponding pin.
- Push the opposite pin in, lower the other side of the pedal onto the depressed pin, and release the pin. Both released pins should be flush with the pedal's outer side when properly secured.
