DigiTech Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion
The DigiTech Metal Master is an advanced heavy metal distortion pedal featuring DigiTech's exclusive AudioDNA™ technology. Unlike standard distortion stompboxes with fixed tone controls, the Metal Master includes a Morph knob that blends between three distinct metal distortion types, offering a wide range of sounds that can be easily dialed in.
Product Controls and Features
The pedal features the following controls and connections:
- Level Knob (1): Controls the effect's output level. Turning clockwise increases the output level; counter-clockwise decreases it.
- Low Knob (2): Controls the boost or cut of low frequencies. Turning clockwise increases low frequency content; counter-clockwise decreases it.
- High Knob (3): Controls the boost or cut of high frequencies. Turning clockwise increases high frequency content; counter-clockwise decreases it.
- Morph Knob (4): Blends between three different metal distortion voicings. The minimum position offers a smooth high gain tone. At the 12 o'clock position, it provides a scooped midrange sound. The maximum position delivers a punchy mid-range heavy metal sound that cuts through the mix. Experiment with different positions for a wide variety of tones.
- Pedal (8): Press the pedal to turn the effect on and off. The Indicator LED (10) illuminates when the effect is active.
- Input Jack (6): Connect your instrument (e.g., guitar) to this jack. Connecting a guitar cable engages battery power, even if the Indicator LED is not lit. Disconnect all cables when not in use to prolong battery life.
- Out 1 (Amp) Jack (9): Connect this output to your guitar amplifier.
- Out 2 (Mixer) Jack (11): This output utilizes DigiTech's CIT™ cabinet modeling technology, allowing the pedal to be run directly into a mixer or recorder input without needing a guitar amplifier.
- AC Adapter Jack (3): Connect a DigiTech PS200R power supply to this jack. Ensure the supply matches your area's mains line voltage.
- Pedal Release Pins (7): These spring-loaded pins hold the pedal in place. Push them in to release the pedal from the chassis and access the battery compartment.
Connections Diagram Description
The connection diagram illustrates:
- A guitar connected to the pedal's INPUT jack.
- The pedal's OUT 1 (AMP) jack connected to an AMPLIFIER.
- The pedal's OUT 2 (MIXER) jack connected to a MIXER console.
- An optional PS200R power supply connected to the pedal's AC adapter jack.
Setup Directions
Follow these steps before use:
- Turn the volume down on the amplifier/mixer you are connecting to.
- Connect the pedal's output (OUT 1 or OUT 2) to the amplifier/mixer input.
- Connect your guitar to the pedal's INPUT jack.
- Connect the power supply to the pedal (optional).
- Turn the Level control on the pedal to its minimum position.
- Turn up your amplifier/mixer level to the desired listening level.
- Turn on the pedal by pressing the pedal switch and gradually increase the level to your desired listening volume.
Battery Replacement
To replace the battery:
- Using the tip of a 1/4" guitar cable, push one of the release pins on either side of the pedal to detach it from the chassis.
- Remove the old battery from the battery compartment and disconnect its cable.
- Connect a new battery to the cable and place it in the battery compartment, ensuring the cable does not interfere with the spring or pedal switch arm.
- Align one hole of the pedal with its corresponding pin on the chassis.
- Push the opposite pin in and lower the other side of the pedal into place over the depressed pin. Release the pin. When properly fastened, both release pins should be flush with the outer side of the pedal.
