Setup Methods
The URC6420 offers three primary methods for setting up your remote:
1. SimpleSet Mode
This mode configures the most common device brands quickly. Locate the numeric key associated with your brand and follow the steps.
Steps:
- Hold down the ? (green) and ? (yellow) buttons for 3 seconds. The LED will blink twice ??.
- Ensure the device you want to control is switched on (not in standby).
- Point the remote at the device.
- Hold down the numeric key associated with your brand (e.g., Metronic = 4) until the device turns off. This may take up to 40 seconds.
- Release the numeric key as soon as the device turns off.
READY!
Troubleshooting: If the device does not turn off or back on, refer to the Auto Search method.
2. Auto Search Mode
Use this mode for device brands not supported by SimpleSet. The remote will automatically search for compatible codes.
Steps:
- Hold down the ? (green) and ? (yellow) buttons for 3 seconds. The LED will blink twice ??.
- Press the OK button once. The LED will blink twice ??.
- Ensure the device is switched on (not in standby).
- Point the remote at the device. The remote will send power-on signals every 3 seconds.
- Press OK once the device turns off (within 3 seconds).
READY!
Troubleshooting: If the device turns off but not back on, you may have pressed OK too late. Repeat the process. If the remote doesn't function correctly, try Auto Search again or use the COPY function.
3. Direct Code Setup
If SimpleSet or Auto Search is unsuccessful, try Direct Code Setup. You will need to find the 4-digit code for your specific device and brand.
Steps:
- For Digital TV Receiver: Press and hold ? (green) and ? (yellow) for 3 seconds. The LED blinks twice ??.
- For Main TV Control: Press and hold ? (red) and ? (blue) for 3 seconds. The LED blinks twice ??.
- Enter the 4-digit code for your device.
- Ensure your device is switched ON (not on standby).
Verification: Pressing the POWER button should turn your device off. If not all keys work or the device doesn't turn off, repeat the steps with the next code for your brand.
TV Main Control
You can program the remote to control your TV's volume, power, and input.
- If your TV brand is listed in your region (see page 15), follow SimpleSet steps (A & B): Step A: Hold ? (red) and ? (blue) for 3 seconds. Step B: Hold the numeric key for your TV brand.
