One For All URC-7960 Universal Remote Control Instruction Manual
This manual provides instructions for setting up and using your One For All URC-7960 universal remote control, enabling you to control multiple audio and video devices with a single remote.
Batteries
If the LED indicators on the remote become dim, it is time to replace the batteries. The manual provides this advice in multiple languages.
SimpleSet™ Setup
SimpleSet is a quick setup method to program your remote for various brands and device types. The process involves checking your device's brand in the SimpleSet list, pressing and holding the MAGIC button, selecting the device type (e.g., TV), and then pressing and holding the corresponding number key for your brand until the device turns off. A blue LED ring around the OK button will indicate the process.
The manual includes detailed steps for SimpleSet in English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Croatian, and Slovak.
SimpleSet List
The remote supports setup for various device categories including TV, STB (Satellite Receiver/Set-Top-Box), DVD, AMP (Audio/Amplifier), MP3, and GAME consoles. For each category, a list of supported brands and their corresponding number keys is provided to facilitate the SimpleSet process.
Direct Code Set Up
If your brand is not found in the SimpleSet list, you can use the Direct Code Set Up method. This involves finding the correct code for your device and brand in the extensive code lists provided in the manual. The setup requires the device to be switched on, pressing and holding the MAGIC key, selecting the device type, entering the first listed code for your brand, and then testing the remote by pressing the Power button. If the device does not switch off, you should try the next code in the list.
Search Method
For brands not listed or if Direct Code Set Up fails, the Search Method can be used. This involves pressing and holding the MAGIC key, selecting the device, pressing '9 9 1', and then pressing the Power button. The remote will then cycle through codes until the device switches off. Once the device switches off, press the MAGIC key to save the settings.
Volume Control
This feature allows you to assign the Volume (VOL+, VOL-, Mute) buttons to always control a specific device, such as your TV, regardless of which device mode (TV, STB, DVD, AMP, MP3, GAME) is currently selected on the remote. The manual details how to set this up and how to deactivate it.
Learning (Copy) Function
The Learning function allows you to copy specific functions from your original remote control onto the URC-7960. This is useful if your original remote is lost or broken, or if you want to add a specific function. The process involves placing both remotes head-to-head, pressing and holding the MAGIC key, selecting the device mode, pressing the 'red' key on the One For All remote, and then pressing the desired function key on the original remote. The blue LED ring confirms successful learning.
SmartControl™ Settings
SmartControl allows you to control multiple devices simultaneously with pre-programmed settings for common activities like "watch tv", "watch movie", and "listen to music". For example, a "watch tv" setting might control your TV and Set-Top Box together. The manual provides several combinations for these activities, detailing which device modes are activated for each.
Keypad and Device Modes
The URC-7960 remote features 6 device modes, typically represented by keys like TV, SAT, CBL, VAC, DVD, LASER, MIS, AMP, TUNER, MP3, GAME, and MC. You can select the appropriate mode using arrow keys to control different types of devices. The manual explains the functions associated with each mode and specific keys.
Troubleshooting
Common issues addressed include the remote not performing commands correctly (suggesting a wrong code or the need to repeat SimpleSet/Search Method) and the brand not being listed in the Code List (advising to use the Search Method).
Code Lists
The manual contains extensive code lists for various device types (TV, SAT, CBL, VAC, DVD, LASER, MIS, AMP, TUNER, MP3, GAME, MC) and numerous brands. These lists are crucial for using the Direct Code Set Up method when the brand is not supported by SimpleSet.
