Terms and Conditions
Overview
The Singtel Travel Insurance Campaign (“Campaign”) is a marketing initiative organized by Consumer Journeys Pte. Ltd. (“CJPL”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications Limited (“Singtel”). This campaign is exclusively for Singtel Travel Protect Policy Holders who have not previously purchased Singtel Travel Protect and who successfully purchase any Singtel Travel Protect insurance policy as specified in Clause 3 of the “Validity and Provision Details” section during the Campaign Validity Period. Great Eastern General Insurance Limited (“GEG”) is the insurer providing the Travel Insurance, with CJPL acting as the corporate agent for GEG authorized to sell it. CJPL may receive remuneration from GEG for each successful sale. By purchasing the Travel Insurance, customers agree to be bound by these terms and conditions (“T&Cs”).
Validity and Provision Details for Campaign

To be eligible, customers must sign up for the Travel Insurance. Campaign participants are eligible for the following promotion(s) for each purchase meeting the criteria, and it is not valid with other discounts:

General
CJPL and GEG reserve the right to replace, vary, discontinue, or withdraw the promotion or campaign at any time without notice or liability. Promotions are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, with no cash alternative. CJPL is not obligated to replace damaged, lost, or defaced promotions. Promotions are provided on an “as is” basis, with all warranties disclaimed. CJPL does not guarantee the quality, performance, or safety of promotional items. Participants agree to comply with all applicable terms and conditions. Any tax liability incurred by promotions is the sole responsibility of the customer. CJPL is not responsible for the quality or fitness for purpose of third-party products or services. Neither CJPL, Singtel, nor GEG shall be liable for any direct or indirect losses or damages arising from the campaign or policy. CJPL and GEG may investigate suspected fraud and suspend participation. They also reserve the right to disqualify non-compliant customers. Customers consent to being contacted by Singtel for feedback. All decisions by CJPL and/or GEG are final and binding.
By participating, customers agree that personal data submitted may be collected, processed, stored, disclosed, or used by Singtel and its affiliates for campaign administration, subject to Singtel’s Data Protection Policy and General Terms & Conditions. Customers consent to CJPL using their personal details for packaging, promotional, advertising, marketing, and publicity purposes. These T&Cs are governed by Singapore law, and customers agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of Singaporean courts.

Please read this policy document, the schedule, or certificate of insurance carefully to understand the terms and conditions and ensure you have the necessary protection. The cover provided is based on information given in the proposal form. All information must be complete and accurate, otherwise cover may not apply.
About the Policy
The policy outlines the terms and conditions of an insurance contract between the customer and the insurer, based on the proposal form, declarations, and information provided. In exchange for the premium, the insurer provides cover during the period of insurance, provided the terms and conditions are met. Customers should keep policy documents safe and accessible, especially the contact number for emergency assistance.

Important Conditions
The policy is valid only if the following conditions are met:
- The insured must be in good health and not travelling against medical advice or for medical treatment.
- Neither the insured nor the applicant should know of any circumstance likely to lead to a claim when arranging the trip or insurance.
- The trip must start and end in Singapore.
- The insurance must be applied for before the trip has started.
- Children under 10 are not covered. Children aged 10 and over can be covered under a parent's or guardian's name.
- Previous refusal of travel insurance or special terms must have been disclosed; otherwise, the insurance is void.
- The policy is not for regular commutes.
- The period of insurance must cover the entire trip duration.
Definitions
Accident: A sudden, unexpected event at a specific time and place causing injury, loss, or damage.
Appointed assistance company: The company providing emergency assistance services.
Area of travel: Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Baggage: Articles, items, luggage, or bags belonging to the insured.
Certificate of insurance: A document detailing the insured person, area of travel, and period of insurance, forming part of the policy.
Child (children): A person at the start of the trip who is between 10-18 years old, or up to 24 if studying full-time, unemployed, and unmarried.
Extreme sports: High-risk activities requiring expertise, physical capability, or specialized equipment, including big-wave surfing, white-water rafting, cliff jumping, etc.
Fare-paying passenger: A person who has paid a fare or used loyalty points for public transport.
Hospital: An institution for patient care with facilities for diagnosis, surgery, and 24-hour nursing care by registered nurses under medical supervision. Excludes clinics, nursing homes, etc.
Illness: Sudden, unexpected deterioration in physical health due to a medical condition contracted during the trip (or before, for section 5 claims), requiring medical treatment, not being a pre-existing condition, and not listed in exclusions.
Injury: Bodily injury caused by an accident, not by illness, disease, or wear and tear.
Insured: The policyholder named in the schedule or certificate of insurance.
Major event: Events causing government advisories against non-essential travel, including disease outbreaks, natural disasters, major industrial accidents, riots, civil unrest, or public transport cancellations/closures.
Manual work: Physical labor or active participation in specific activities like underground work, military duties, offshore work, construction at heights, heavy machinery operation, diving, driving commercial vehicles, etc. Volunteer work for charities is excluded unless paid or involving heavy machinery/heights.
Medical expenses: Costs for treatment of injury or illness by a medical practitioner, clinic, nurse, or ambulance service, excluding nursing care, non-medical charges, pre-existing conditions, or dental treatment. All treatment must be prescribed by a medical practitioner, and costs should not exceed usual local charges.
Medical practitioner: A registered, legally qualified doctor with a Western medicine degree, authorized by the relevant country’s medical licensing authority. Cannot be the insured, their relatives, business partners, or travel companions.
Mobile phone: The insured's mobile phone with a SIM card for calls, messaging, and data.
Money: Banknotes, cash, and traveler's cheques.
Natural disaster: Extreme weather events, wildfires, floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, or other natural forces.
Overseas: Anywhere in Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand.
Period of insurance: The duration specified in the schedule or certificate of insurance.
Permanent total disability: Disability resulting solely from an accident within 30 days, falling into specific categories, and lasting at least 12 months, preventing paid or usual unpaid work, and certified as irreversible by a medical practitioner.
Policy: The contract of insurance, comprising the application form, declarations, schedule, certificate, and endorsements.
Pre-existing condition: Any condition, illness, disease, injury, disability, or birth defect for which medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, prescription, hospitalization, or surgery was received within 12 months before the trip, or any signs/symptoms appearing in that period for which medical advice would reasonably be sought.
Public place: Any location accessible to the general public, such as airports, shops, restaurants, parks, etc.
Public transport: Licensed land, sea, or air transport running to a timetable on set routes, for fare-paying passengers. Excludes hired/rented vehicles or chartered transport.
Relative: Includes spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling, in-laws.
Schedule: The document containing the insured's details, area of travel, and period of insurance.
Serious illness: An illness requiring medical treatment that renders the insured unfit to travel. For a relative/companion, it's a life-threatening illness causing trip cancellation/postponement.
Serious injury: An injury rendering the insured unfit to travel. For a relative/companion, it's a life-threatening injury causing trip cancellation/postponement.
Travel companion: A person accompanying the insured whose absence would prevent the trip from starting or continuing, excluding paid tour leaders.
Treatment: Surgical or medical procedures for curing or relieving an injury, illness, or medical condition.
Trip: Pre-booked overseas travel starting upon departure from home/workplace in Singapore and ending upon arrival back, clearing immigration, or the end of the insurance period, whichever is earlier. The trip must not exceed 30 consecutive days.
We (us, our): Great Eastern General Insurance Limited.
You (your): The insured person named in the schedule or certificate of insurance.
What the Policy Covers
Section 1 – Medical expenses overseas: Reimbursement up to S$100,000 for medically necessary expenses for injury or illness overseas. Excludes nursing care, non-medical charges, and treatment in Singapore.
Section 2 – Personal accident: Compensation for injury resulting in death, permanent total disability, or permanent loss within 30 days of the accident, up to S$100,000. Covers loss of sight, limbs, speech, and hearing.
Section 3 – Emergency medical evacuation: Covers reasonable expenses for emergency medical evacuation overseas or repatriation to Singapore, as deemed appropriate by the appointed assistance company, up to the limit specified in the summary of benefits. Total limit for sections 3, 4, and 9 is S$500,000.
Section 4 – Repatriation: Covers expenses up to S$10,000 for transporting the body or ashes back to Singapore if death occurs overseas within 30 days of a covered injury or illness. The appointed assistance company arranges repatriation.
Section 5 – Trip cancellation or postponement: Covers unused, non-recoverable travel expenses and accommodation costs up to S$1,000 if the trip is cancelled or postponed within 30 days before departure due to death, serious illness/injury of the insured or a relative/companion, a major event, serious damage to home, or court summons. Specific conditions apply if the policy was bought less than seven days before the trip.
Section 6 – Loss of or damage to baggage and money: Covers loss or damage to baggage up to S$1,500. Covers loss of money due to robbery, burglary, or theft, with sublimits for laptops/tablets (S$500), mobile phones (S$500), money (S$300), and other items (S$500 per item/set). Claims for damaged items are subject to wear and tear reduction. Loss must be reported to police or transport provider within 24 hours.
Section 7 – Golfer's cover: Covers loss or damage to golf equipment (up to S$500) due to accident or theft overseas, excluding during play/practice. Also covers green fees, hire fees, or tuition fees (up to S$250) if unusable due to injury/illness, and a hole-in-one celebration (up to S$250).
Section 8 – Fraudulent use of a bank card: Covers financial loss up to S$1,000 due to unauthorized use of lost or stolen credit/charge/bank cards overseas, provided steps were taken to protect the card and timely reports were made to the card company and police. Excludes unauthorized charges by family members, travel companions, or those with access to card details.
Section 9 – Emergency phone charges: Reimburses actual mobile phone charges for emergency calls to the appointed assistance company, up to S$150.
Sections 10, 11, 12: Apply only if you have a Singtel mobile phone contract.
Section 10 – Replacement mobile phone: Replaces or repairs a stolen or damaged mobile phone. If beyond economical repair, it's treated as stolen/destroyed. Theft/damage must be reported to police/transport provider within 24 hours.
Section 11 – Bill protect: Reimburses Singtel mobile phone bills up to S$100 per day (max S$500 total) if hospitalized overseas for at least 24 hours due to an accident.
Section 12 – Data rescue: Reimburses additional Singtel mobile data expenses up to S$100 due to a travel delay of at least 12 hours caused by poor weather, mechanical breakdown, strike, riot, natural disaster, or airport closure.
Section 13 – Adventurous leisure activities: Extends cover for death or injury from activities like bungee jumping, white-water rafting, hang-gliding, helicopter rides, jet-skiing, mountaineering, paragliding, skydiving, etc., provided under qualified guidance.
Section 14 – Car breakdown towing costs (Johor and Malacca only): Reimburses up to S$500 for towing costs of a Singapore-registered vehicle broken down in Johor or Malacca, after the car insurance provider has rejected or not fully paid the claim.
Overall Limit of Liability
The maximum payout for any single event leading to a claim is S$5,000,000 in total across all policies issued by the insurer.
General Exclusions that Apply to the Whole Policy
The policy does not cover claims arising directly or indirectly from:
- War, invasion, hostilities, civil war, civil commotion, rebellion, revolution, uprising, or overthrowing of power.
- Ionising radiation, toxic contamination, or radioactive contamination.
- Strikes, riots, civil commotion, dangerous health threats (e.g., contagious disease outbreaks), natural disasters, or events with government warnings issued before departure.
- Detention, confiscation, destruction, or alteration of property by customs or other authorities.
- Illegal or unlawful acts, or criminal activity.
- Government actions, prohibitions, regulations, sanctions, or exposure to sanctions under international resolutions or laws.
- Mental and nervous disorders (including sleeping disorder, depression, insanity, anxiety).
- Self-inflicted injury, suicide, or deliberately putting oneself in danger.
- Dental surgery or treatment, unless resulting from an accident.
- Pregnancy or childbirth, and related complications.
- Travel by air or sea, except as a passenger on a licensed carrier, not as crew, for expeditions, or trade/technical operations.
- Participation in naval, military, air force, civil defence, or police training or operations.
- Travel related to work as a licensed tour guide or travel agency staff.
- Travel for medical treatment, nursing, rest, or convalescent homes.
- Nursing care not provided by a hospital.
- Participation in sports for earnings, financial rewards, donations, or sponsorship.
- Participation in speed/time trials, competitions, racing (except on foot), official team football, extreme sports, white-water rafting/canoeing, bungee jumping, jet-skiing, scuba diving, underwater activities, ski racing, ski jumping, bobsleigh/skeleton, expeditions, ocean yachting, potholing, mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking, hunting, motor sports, or airborne sports (unless covered under Section 13).
- Motorcycling, unless licensed, adhering to road laws, and wearing a helmet.
- Manual work, dangerous work, using heavy machinery, testing transport, offshore activities, mining, aerial photography, handling explosives/ammunition/firearms.
- Consequential loss or damage.
- Loss or damage insured under other policies or reimbursed by other parties.
- Loss or damage caused by deliberate, fraudulent, dishonest, or criminal acts.
- Terrorism, including actions or threats for political, religious, ideological purposes, intended to influence government, or designed to scare the public. This also covers actions taken to control or suppress terrorism.
- Infectious diseases declared as epidemic, pandemic, or PHEIC by health authorities (Singapore, WHO, or recognized bodies), unless diagnosis predates the declaration. This exclusion does not apply to Section 5 claims related to a major event if the declaration was not in effect when the policy started.
Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act: Policy conditions are enforceable only by the insured or their estate, or the insurer.
Cyber loss: The policy does not cover cyber loss, defined as loss, damage, liability, etc., caused directly or indirectly by unauthorized or malicious acts, threats, errors, omissions, accidents, or non-compliance with regulations involving computer systems.
Damage to data or software: Physical damage to property does not include damage to data or software, including corruption or deletion, unless it's a direct result of physical damage to the property. Loss from software failure is also excluded.
Sanctions: The insurer will not provide cover if doing so may break sanctions. If the insured or associated party is subject to sanctions, the insurer may cancel the policy, close out financial products, withhold payments, or take other actions. The insured must indemnify the insurer for losses related to sanctions.
Exclusions that Apply to Specific Sections
Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13:
- Pre-existing conditions.
- Cosmetic or beauty treatments.
- Services/supplies not recommended by a medical practitioner, not necessary for treatment, or for preventive care/check-ups.
- Treatment at health spas or nature-cure clinics.
- Effect of alcohol or drugs not prescribed by a medical practitioner, or treatment for addiction.
- Sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, HIV, or related conditions.
- Travelling against medical advice or for medical care.
- Elective treatment or surgery.
Sections 6, 7, 8 and 10:
- Failure to take reasonable steps to protect property or avoid injury.
- Costs covered by other persons, organizations, or insurance policies.
- Glasses, contact lenses, stamps, perishable goods, household goods, dentures, artificial limbs, cosmetics, skincare products.
- Medication, health supplements, tonics, or herbs.
- Shopping vouchers, money orders, securities, deeds, bonds, bills of exchange, promissory notes, share certificates, manuscripts, cards, and documents (including identity cards, driving licenses, prepaid cards, credit cards, travel documents), unless covered under Section 6.
- Medals, coins, antiques, precious metals, and jewellery.
- Camping, skiing, surfing, fishing, and diving equipment.
- Golf clubs and balls during play or practice.
- Crockery, china, sculptures, curios, pictures, musical instruments, or fragile items.
- Animals, motor vehicles, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, and other transport.
- Information on tapes, cards, discs, business goods, samples, or work-related items.
- Items sent by freight.
- Wear and tear, scratches, nicks to baggage, reduction in value, insects, vermin, deterioration, mechanical/electrical breakdown, cleaning, restoration, or renovation.
- Consequences of lawful acts by government authorities.
- Pressure waves caused by aircraft or devices travelling at supersonic speeds.
- Loss not reported to police or transport carrier within 24 hours of discovery.
- Unattended baggage, misplaced or missing personal belongings without good reason.
- Unexplained disappearance, shortages due to mistakes, exchange rate changes, or loss of value over time.
- Property insured under other policies or reimbursed by public transport, hotels, or third parties.
- Wilful actions, negligence, or carelessness of the insured.
Section 10 Exclusions:
- Repairs covered under warranty or guarantee.
- Cosmetic damage (e.g., cracks, scratches, dents, chips) to the mobile phone.
- Liquid damage.
- Damage caused by family members or friends.
- Damage from routine servicing, adjustments, or cleaning.
- Damage occurring before the policy start date.
- Damage to memory cards or data-storage cards not included with the original phone.
- Loss of data or information, or cost of replacement SIM cards or software.
- Modifications to the mobile phone (e.g., gemstones, upgrades).
- Damage to screen protectors.
- Destruction by government agencies.
- Wear and tear, gradual deterioration, atmospheric conditions, insects, vermin, cleaning processes, rust, corrosion, mildew, mould, fungus, temperature/humidity changes.
- Existing faults, defects, hidden defects, faulty workmanship, defective design, or use of defective materials.
- Malicious damage.
- Wilful actions, negligence, or carelessness of the insured, family, or domestic servant, or knowingly allowing such actions.
General Conditions that Apply to the Whole Policy
- Awareness of circumstances: The insured must not know of any circumstances that could lead to a claim before taking out the policy.
- Cancellation: Premiums are non-refundable once the policy is issued.
- Currency: All amounts are in Singapore dollars.
- Deciding your age: Age for claims is based on age at cover start.
- Disclaimer: The insurer aims for high-quality service from the appointed assistance company but is not the supplier of services and has no liability for them or their consequences.
- Other insurance: If covered by multiple Singtel policies for the same trip, cover is under the policy with the highest benefit limits.
- Ending cover: The policy ends if premiums are not paid when due or if the policy is cancelled.
- Fitness for travel: The insured must be medically fit to travel and unaware of circumstances that could lead to cancellation/postponement when taking out the policy.
- Governing law: The policy is governed and interpreted by Singapore law.
- Interpretation: The policy, schedule, and certificate of insurance should be read together.
- Keeping to the policy: The insurer is only liable if the insured adheres to all policy terms, conditions, and endorsements.
- Non-contribution clause: This insurance covers amounts not covered by other policies, or amounts exceeding coverage from other policies.
- Notice of important changes: The insured must immediately notify the insurer of changes in personal details, or any injury, disease, disability, or condition, and details of other relevant insurance.
- Premium warranty: Premiums must be paid on or before the policy start date. Cover is void if the premium is not paid by the start date.
- Reasonable care: The insured must take reasonable care for their safety and the safety of insured property.
- Using your information: Information may be used and shared with associated parties or third parties for arranging and managing the policy and claims.
- Taking out cover: Cover must be taken out before leaving Singapore for the trip.
Claim Conditions that Apply to the Whole Policy
- Arbitration: Disputes must be referred to FIDReC or settled by arbitration in Singapore under SIAC Rules. Arbitration is conducted in English.
- Conduct of proceedings: No admission of liability without written permission. The insurer can conduct claims in the insured's name. Full information and help must be provided.
- Fraud: False or fraudulent claims will result in claim denial and policy termination without refund.
- Medical examination: The insurer has the right to examine the insured and conduct an autopsy if legally permitted.
- Payment of benefits: Benefits are paid to the insured or legal representatives, except for death benefits (paid to the estate) and benefits under sections 3 & 4 (paid to the appointed assistance company). Maximum total payout is S$5,000,000.
- Proof of loss: Written proof, original receipts, and invoices must be provided within 30 days of discovering a loss, or as soon as reasonably possible thereafter (within one year). The insured bears the cost of providing proof.
- Rights of recovery: The insurer can recover amounts paid for claims they were not liable for. The insurer takes over the insured's rights to recover from liable third parties.
- Taking over your rights of recovery: After paying a claim, the insurer assumes rights to recover from liable parties. The insured must not hinder this process and must provide assistance.
- Written notice: Written notice of any event likely to give rise to a claim must be given as soon as reasonably possible, and no later than 30 days after the event. Property loss/damage must be reported to police/transport authorities within 24 hours.

- This document provides product information and is not a contract of insurance. Refer to policy documents for precise terms and conditions.
- The policy is protected under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC). Coverage is automatic.
- Singtel Daily Travel Protect is underwritten by Great Eastern General Insurance Limited, a subsidiary of Great Eastern Holdings Limited and a member of the OCBC Group.

Eligibility
The Insured Person must be domiciled in Singapore and be a Singaporean, PR, or Foreigner with a valid Employment Pass, Work Permit, Dependent Pass, Student Pass, or Long Term Social Visit Pass, unless otherwise agreed.
Commencement of Cover
Cover commences upon acceptance of the application by GEG and full premium payment.
