Connecting the Camera to a Mobile Device

App Download and Installation

Search for "HeimLink" on the App Store™ or Google Play™, or scan the QR codes provided to download and install the application on your mobile device.

Account Registration and Login

Please register an account with a valid email address and then log in.

Connecting the Camera to HeimLink Account

IMPORTANT:

  1. This camera is only compatible with 2.4 GHz WiFi connections.
  2. For a stable network connection, ensure the camera and mobile device are close to the router.
  3. Avoid using special characters or symbols in your WiFi name and password, such as @~!#$%^&*.
  4. For all connection options, listen for voice prompts after the camera powers on. Use the Reset Pin to press and hold the Reset button for 5-6 seconds to reset the camera if you do not hear voice prompts. You will hear "Reinicio exitoso" (Successful reset) upon successful reset.
  5. Please enable location services and WiFi on your mobile device, then allow the HeimLink app to access your location and use WiFi.

1. Connect the camera by scanning the QR code

Turn on the camera and wait for the prompt "Configure the camera by scanning the code or AP hotspot".

  1. Tap the '+' icon in the center or top-right corner.
  2. Select 'Smart Camera'.
  3. Select 'Scan the device to add'.
  4. Tap 'Next step'.
  5. Connect to your router's WiFi and tap 'Next step'.

Tip: Tap 'Network Detection' to check your WiFi status.

  1. Align the QR code on your mobile device with the camera's lens, maintaining a distance of 4 to 8 inches.
  2. Tap "Beep" or flashing lights after hearing two beeps from the camera.
  3. Wait for the connection.
  4. Name your camera and tap 'Start experiment' to finish the connection.

2. Connect the camera via AP Hotspot

Turn on the camera and wait for the prompt "Configure the camera by scanning the code or AP hotspot".

Note: No password is required for the HeimLink_AP_xxxx WiFi. If your mobile device indicates the WiFi is not secure, please ignore it.

  1. Tap the '+' icon in the center or top-right corner.
  2. Select 'Smart Camera'.
  3. Select 'Add AP hotspot'.
  4. Tap 'Next step'.
  5. Tap 'Go to settings'.
  6. Connect to the HeimLink_AP_xxxx WiFi.

  1. Return to the network settings interface.
  2. Tap 'Next step'.
  3. Select your router's WiFi and enter the correct password.

  1. Wait for the connection.
  2. Name your camera and tap 'Start experiment' to finish the connection.

Tip: A pop-up window will appear with connection instructions if you have not successfully connected to HeimLink_AP_xxxx WiFi. Tap 'Confirm' and connect to the WiFi again.

3. Connect the camera via LAN Cable

Connect the camera to a router using a LAN cable. Turn on the camera and wait for the voice prompt: "Please wait for cable connection. Wait for it to connect to the Internet. Please select cable connection to add the camera."

  1. Tap the '+' icon in the center or top-right corner.
  2. Select 'Smart Camera'.
  3. Select 'Add network cable for direct connection'.
  4. Tap 'Next step'.
  5. Scan the camera's QR code.

  1. Wait for the connection.
  2. Name your camera and tap 'Start experiment' to finish the connection.

Tip: After connecting the camera to the app via LAN cable, you can switch to WiFi connection for flexible placement and optimal camera performance. Go to Settings, select 'Change WiFi network', and enter the correct password. After successfully connecting to the selected WiFi, unplug the LAN cable and restart the camera.

Using the Camera on a Mobile Device

  • ☁️: Subscribe or renew a cloud plan.
  • ?: Share your camera with family (see Page 22).
  • ⚙️: Access the 'Configure' interface.
  • : Turn the camera on or off.

Cloud Event:

Available only when subscribed to a cloud plan. Tap to view recorded cloud videos when motion/sound/human profiles are detected. Tap a video to play it, then tap 'Collection' to save it to the 'Cloud Album' as needed.

Cloud Service:

Review your device's cloud service.

My:

Tap 'My album' to check captures/videos saved in the Local Album, and videos saved in the Cloud Album. Check the app version.

2. Live Video

Tap the preview image on the main HeimLink interface to view the live video.

Control Icons:

  • ▶️: Play recorded videos.
  • ?: Capture a snapshot for the local album in the App.
  • ?: Move the camera to the preset angle.
  • ?: Create a group of locations the camera can focus on.
  • ?: Pan or tilt the camera.
  • ☁️: Check cloud-recorded videos when human/motion/sound events are detected.
  • HD: Toggle image quality between HD and SD. SD is recommended for smoother streaming.
  • ?️: Press and hold to talk to people in front of the camera.
  • ?: Mute the camera's sound.
  • : Show more functions.
  • ?: Record a video to the local album in the App.
  • ?: Check videos saved in the cloud.

Video Recording

IMPORTANT:

  1. Two recording options are available: memory card and cloud (optional).
  2. The camera supports up to 128GB memory cards; use high-quality, trusted brands.
  3. The camera records in a loop, overwriting the oldest videos when storage is full.

1. Record videos on a memory card

  1. Insert a memory card (not included) and turn on the camera.
  2. Go to Settings > Device Storage to check memory card status.
  3. Select a recording mode: 'No recording', 'Event recording' (records on motion/sound/human detection), or 'All-day recording' (records continuously).

2. Record videos to the Cloud

Videos are recorded to the cloud upon subscribing to a cloud plan. Refer to Page 23 for subscription details.

Tip: Cloud recording is recommended for secure, encrypted storage, preventing data loss.

Video Playback

Go to Settings > Playback Videos, and select 'Memory Card' or 'Cloud' to play recorded videos. In the Live Video interface, tap the play icon ▶️ to play recorded videos or tap 'live' to play the live video again.

A. Calendar: Tap to show a calendar and select a specific time for recorded video.

B. Timeline: Swipe left/right on the timeline to play recorded video. Pinch or double-tap to zoom. Cloud playback timelines show two colors: dark blue for detected events (sound/motion/human), light blue for no detection.

Playback Speed: Tap to play videos at x1.0, x2.0, x4.0, or x0.5 speed.

C. Clip: Tap to clip and save videos to the cloud album or delete them.

PTZ Function & Presets

1. Pan & Tilt & Zoom Function

Swipe the directional control ? to pan/tilt the camera. Pinch or double-tap the live video to zoom in/out.

2. Presets

Tap ? to create preset focus points for your camera.

  1. Create a Preset: Tap '+' to add a preset, name it, and tap 'Save'.
  2. Activate a Preset: Tap the thumbnail, and the camera will move to the preset location.
  3. Delete a Preset: Tap , then tap ?️ to delete the preset.

Note: Please disable 'Smart Tracking' when adding a preset for accuracy.

Alarms & Notifications

The camera records videos to the cloud or memory card only when motion/sound/human profiles are detected (requires cloud subscription for 'Alarm Trigger Recording' or selection of 'Event Recording' on the memory card). The camera can also emit an alarm tone and send push notifications upon detecting motion/sound/human profiles.

1. Alarm Settings

Motion detection, sound detection, and human profile detection are enabled by default.

  • Adjust Detection Sensitivity: Set sensitivity levels for motion and human detection. 'Medium' is default; adjust to 'Low' to reduce false alarms.
  • Select Detection Area: Reduce false alarms by configuring specific detection areas for motion and human detection. Areas are selected by default. Tap on the preview image to select/deselect areas (indicated by blue frames). Tap 'Complete' to save.
  • Set Alarm Tone: Enable or disable the camera's alarm tone. The camera will emit an alarm when motion/sound/human profiles are detected.

2. Notification Settings

  1. Enable Notifications: Go to Settings > activate Motion Detection/Sound Detection/Humanoid Detection. Then go to 'Notify Push Configuration' to enable 'Receive app notification'. You will receive push notifications on your mobile device for detected motion/sound/human profiles.
  2. Set Notification Frequency: Choose 'Receive all notifications' or 'Receive summary' with a set interval.
  3. Stop Notifications: Go to Settings > Notify Push Configuration > Stop notification time. Tap 'Add a schedule' to set times when you do not want to receive notifications (up to 3 schedules).

Tip: Swipe left on a schedule and tap 'Cancel' to delete it. Keep the HeimLink app running in the background. You will not receive push notifications when viewing live video.

Smart Tracking

Go to Settings to activate 'Smart Tracking'. The camera will automatically track moving objects. Tip: Frequent rotation due to this feature may shorten the camera's lifespan.

Share the Device

IMPORTANT:

  1. Ensure family members have registered a HeimLink account before sharing.
  2. You can share with multiple accounts, but 3 is recommended for optimal experience.

Steps:

  1. Tap ? on the main interface or go to Settings > Private Sharing > Add family member, and enter the family member's account.
  2. Select the functions you wish to share, then tap 'Share'.

Cloud Service

1. Subscribe to a Cloud Plan

Tap ☁️ on the main interface or go to Settings > Device Storage > My package... to subscribe. You can also use an activation code by tapping 'Pay by code...' and entering it.

2. Change Cloud Plan to a New Camera

If you want to change your cloud plan to a new connected camera, follow these steps:

  1. Tap 'Cloud Service' on the bottom bar of the main interface to check your cloud service.
  2. Tap 'Cloud Service', then tap your cloud plan. Select the new camera and tap 'Confirm'.

3. Cancel Automatic Cloud Service Renewal

If you selected automatic renewal when subscribing to a cloud plan, you can cancel it when no longer needed.

Steps:

  1. Visit https://heimlink.heimvision.com/ and log in with your account.
  2. In your account, go to 'Account Info' to check your 'Payment Information', then tap 'Cancel' to stop automatic renewal.

More Settings

Tap ⚙️ on the main interface or the top-right corner of the live video interface for more camera settings.

  • Device Name: Tap to change the camera's name.
  • Time Zone: Select the time zone.
  • Device Switch: Turn your camera on or off.
  • Device is turned on: Set a schedule for automatic camera shutdown (up to 3 schedules). Swipe left and tap 'Cancel' to delete a scheduled time.
  • Device Microphone: Enable or disable the camera's microphone. If disabled, no sound will be heard in live or recorded video, and sound detection will be unavailable.
  • Alarm Tone: Activate or deactivate the camera's chime.
  • Night Vision: Activate or deactivate night vision mode, or set to 'Auto'.
  • Image Flip 180°: Tap to rotate the image 180° for ceiling installation.
  • Device Details: Check firmware version, model type, device ID, and MAC address. Change screen flicker frequency.
  • Device Storage: Check cloud plan, delete cloud videos, verify memory card status and capacity, configure memory card recording mode, format memory card.
  • Change Wi-Fi: Change the WiFi connection.
  • Restart Device: Tap to restart the device.
  • Remove Device: Tap to remove your device.

Using the Camera on a Computer

Visit https://heimlink.heimvision.com/ via your computer's browser, log in with your account to check the live video.

Tip: To check recorded videos from the memory card on your computer, insert the memory card into a card reader and play the videos with a player that supports the MP4 format.

Troubleshooting

P1. Why can't I connect the camera to my account?

  • The camera only supports 2.4GHz WiFi. Ensure you have selected the correct network. If using a dual-band router, contact the router vendor or us for assistance.
  • Avoid special characters or symbols in your WiFi name and password (e.g., @~!#$%^&*).
  • If the connection fails, use the Reset Pin to press and hold the Reset button for 5-6 seconds to restart the camera, then try connecting again.

Q2. Why can't the camera read my memory card?

  • The camera does not support plug-and-play. Insert the memory card before powering on the camera, or restart the camera after inserting the card.
  • Use a high-quality, reliable memory card.
  • Ensure the memory card is not damaged.

P3. Why can't I play recorded videos on my memory card?

  • Ensure a memory card is inserted into the camera.
  • Go to Settings > Device Storage to check if the memory card is available.
  • Check your memory card recording mode and ensure it is not set to 'No recording'.
  • Go to Settings > Playback Videos and verify 'Memory Card' is selected.
  • Go to Settings > Device Storage > Memory card recording mode... Select 'No recording' to stop recording videos, then play the recorded videos again.
  • Ensure your network connection is stable when playing recorded videos.

Q4. Can I view videos from multiple cameras simultaneously?

  • Multiple cameras can be connected to the same account. You can view live videos from up to 4 cameras simultaneously using the split-screen mode by tapping the ?️ icon on the main interface.

Q5. Why am I not receiving notifications on my mobile?

  • Ensure you have allowed HeimLink to send push notifications in your mobile device's settings.
  • Ensure all options in 'Notify Push Configuration' are activated.
  • Ensure the current time is not within a scheduled 'Stop notification' period.
