Step 1:

Insert the unit into the mounting sleeve.

Step 2:

Secure the sleeve firmly in place by bending the appropriate tabs.

Step 3:

Perform the required electrical connections.

Step 4:

Install the unit at an angle of less than 30°.

When using the optional stay

Install the unit using the optional stay (bracket and screws).

For example, in a Toyota car, remove the car radio first and install the unit in its place. Use flat type screws (M5×8 mm) and brackets as needed.

Removing the unit

Before removing the unit, release the rear section. Insert the two handles, then pull them as illustrated to remove the unit.

Electrical Connections

Before connecting: Check the wiring in the vehicle carefully. Incorrect connection may cause serious damage to this unit. The leads of the power cord and those of the connector from the car body may be different in color.

  1. Connect the colored leads of the power cord in the order specified.
  2. Connect the antenna cord.
  3. Finally connect the wiring harness to the unit.

Connection Points:

Connecting External Amplifiers and Subwoofer

You can connect amplifiers to upgrade your car stereo system. Connect the remote lead (blue with white stripe) to the remote lead of other equipment for control via this unit. Disconnect the speakers from this unit and connect them to the amplifier. For KD-AR880, you can switch off the built-in amplifier and send audio signals only to external amplifiers for clear sounds and to prevent internal heat buildup. The line output level is kept high for hi-fi sounds. When connecting an external amplifier, turn down its gain control for best performance.

Connecting External Components

These components can be connected in series. All components, adapters, or signal cords must be purchased separately.

Caution:

Before connecting external components, ensure the unit is turned off.
