JVC KD-AR880/KD-G830 Installation/Connection Manual
Warnings
To prevent short circuits, disconnect the battery's negative terminal and make all electrical connections before installing the unit. Ensure the unit is grounded to the car's chassis after installation.
Notes:
- Replace the fuse with one of the specified rating. If the fuse blows frequently, consult your JVC car audio dealer.
- It is recommended to connect to speakers with a maximum power of more than 50 W (4 Ω to 8 Ω impedance). If maximum power is less than 50 W, adjust the "Amp Gain" setting to prevent speaker damage (see page 34 of the INSTRUCTIONS).
- Cover the terminals of unused leads with insulating tape to prevent short-circuit.
- The heat sink becomes very hot after use; be careful not to touch it when removing the unit.
Precautions on Power Supply and Speaker Connections
- DO NOT connect speaker leads of the power cord to the car battery, as this will seriously damage the unit.
- Before connecting speaker leads to speakers, check the speaker wiring in your car.

Connecting External Amplifiers and Subwoofer
You can connect amplifiers to upgrade your car stereo system. Connect the remote lead (blue with white stripe) to the remote lead of other equipment for control via this unit. Disconnect the speakers from this unit and connect them to the amplifier. For KD-AR880, you can switch off the built-in amplifier and send audio signals only to external amplifiers for clear sounds and to prevent internal heat buildup. The line output level is kept high for hi-fi sounds. When connecting an external amplifier, turn down its gain control for best performance.
- Connect front speakers and rear speakers to JVC amplifiers.
- Connect the subwoofer to a JVC amplifier.
- Ensure the remote lead (blue with white stripe) is connected to the amplifier's remote input.
