Air Frying Techniques
Consult pre-programmed selections or food package directions for time and temperature.
- Pat food dry before cooking for better browning and less smoke.
- Open the basket halfway through cooking to check, turn, or shake food for even cooking.
- Some recipes may require brushing or spraying oil halfway through.
- Use oven mitts when handling hot items.
- Hot oil may collect at the base of the basket.
- For high-fat foods (bacon, chicken wings), empty excess fat from the air fryer between batches to reduce smoke.
- Ensure food surfaces are dry for crispiness. Air fry small batches of breaded foods.
- Cut food into smaller pieces for more surface area.
- Press breading onto food to help it adhere.
- Refrigerate breaded foods for at least 30 minutes before air frying.
- For crispier poultry skin, lightly coat with corn starch and spray with oil.
- Arrange food in the basket so it doesn't touch, allowing air to flow. Spraying oil evenly works best. Suitable oils include canola, olive, avocado, coconut, grapeseed, and peanut oil.
