Getting Started with DISCOVER DJ

To begin using the DISCOVER DJ:

Connect the DISCOVER DJ's attached USB cable to an available USB port on your computer. If possible, use a USB port on the rear panel of your computer.
Open Cross by double-clicking the icon on your computer's Desktop (if you created a Desktop shortcut) or by navigating to Start ► All Programs ► MixVibes ► Cross – Discover DJ (Windows) or Applications ► MixVibes (Mac).

For more information on how to use Cross, refer to the manual on the CD. The manual is a '.pdf' document in the language you chose during software installation.

Top Panel Features

The top panel features two decks, each with a large jog wheel and various controls. Key controls include:

1. BROWSE KNOB: Turn to scroll and select music tracks. Press to enter a folder or go to the next-highest folder.
2. JOG WHEEL: Scratches or searches through the track on that deck, depending on the SCRATCH / SEARCH button mode.

Scratch Mode (SCRATCH LED lit): Moving the JOG WHEEL scratches the track, similar to a turntable platter.
Search Mode (SCRATCH LED off, deck paused): Moving the JOG WHEEL searches through the track. If the deck is playing in Search Mode, moving the JOG WHEEL bends the pitch of the track, slightly altering its speed. Releasing the jog wheel returns the track to its normal pitch. This is useful for manually aligning the beats of two tracks.

3. SCRATCH / SEARCH Button: Selects between Scratch and Search modes for the JOG WHEEL.
4. PLAY/PAUSE Button: Starts or pauses track playback.
5. CUE Button: Sets a cue point or returns to the cue point.
6. REV Button: Reverses track playback.
7. SYNC Button: Synchronizes the tempo of two tracks.
8. *100 Button: (Likely related to pitch adjustment or tempo shifting).
9. PITCH Faders: Adjust the pitch (tempo) of the track on each deck.
10. TREBLE Knobs: Adjust the high-end frequencies of the music on each deck.
11. BASS Knobs: Adjust the low-end frequencies of the music on each deck.
12. VOLUME Knobs: Adjust the volume level of the music on each deck.
13. MASTER VOLUME Knob: Adjusts the overall volume of the mix (both decks combined). Use the individual VOLUME knobs to adjust each deck's volume separately.
14. CROSSFADER: Slides between decks to blend tracks, allowing smooth transitions and creating a good overall mix.

Note: The features listed are not exhaustive. The Cross software offers many other useful DJing features to explore. Please consult the CD manual for more information.

Important Note on Interference: Keep DISCOVER DJ away from devices that can cause electrical interference. If performance is noticeably affected, move or reposition the DISCOVER DJ away from the source of interference.
