Compatible Light Bulbs
Works with energy-efficient dimmable light bulbs:
- LED: up to 150 W
- Halogen: up to 600 W
- Incandescent: up to 600 W
You can mix dimmable LEDs with halogen and incandescent bulbs. Dimmable LED performance varies; if bulbs flicker or turn off, see Step 9 'Adjusting Low-End Trim'. For a list of compatible LEDs, visit www.lutron.com/LEDfinder.
Using Your Controls
The dimmer features a slider for light level adjustment and a Front Accessible Service Switch (FASS).
To replace light bulbs: Pull the FASS out to remove power at the light socket.
- Slider: Adjusts light level. Will not turn lights off.
- FASS: Front Accessible Service Switch. Pull out to disconnect power to the light socket for bulb replacement.
Adjusting Low-End Trim
Use this to optimize performance for dimmable LED bulbs that may flicker or turn off at low levels.
- Pull the FASS out to the open position.
- Press and HOLD the 'Off' button.
- Continue holding 'Off' and push the FASS back in until the light bar flashes (approx. 6 seconds).
- Release the 'Off' button.
- Move the slider down until it stops.
- Slowly move the slider up until the bulbs just barely turn on.
- Press 'Off' to save the setting.
Night Mode Ambient Light Setting
Night Mode allows the dimmer to rise to ON and fade to OFF more gently based on ambient light conditions.
- Pull the FASS out to the open position.
- Press and HOLD the 'On' button.
- Continue holding 'On' and push the FASS back in until the light bar flashes (approx. 6 seconds).
- Move the slider up or down to select the desired Night Mode setting:

- Middle Slider (MEDIUM): Moderate light needed to exit Night Mode. Ideal for rooms with natural light.
- Bottom Slider (LOW): Very little light needed to exit Night Mode. Ideal for rooms without natural light.
- Press 'On' to save settings or 'Off' to disable Night Mode.
- The light bar will display the saved setting and return to normal mode.

Troubleshooting
Symptom | Probable Cause and Action |
---|---|
Light does not turn on or the dimmer light bar does not light up. |
|
Bulbs turn off while being dimmed. | Verify bulbs are marked dimmable and see Step 9 'Adjusting Low-End Trim' for best bulb performance. |
Bulbs turn on at high light level but do not turn on at a low light level. | Verify bulbs are marked dimmable and see Step 9 'Adjusting Low-End Trim' for best bulb performance. |
Bulbs flicker or flash when dimmed to a low light level. | Verify bulbs are marked dimmable and see Step 9 'Adjusting Low-End Trim' for best bulb performance. |
Load is Off and the light bar blinks 4 times, pauses, and repeats. | The dimmer is in Over Temperature Protection (OTP) mode. See Step 3 'Ganging and Derating'. Ensure the dimmer is not overloaded. Reset the dimmer by using the FASS (pull out and push back in). |
Lights fade slowly during the day. | Not enough light in room to exit Night Mode. Adjust Night Mode ambient setting to Low or Disable. |
Lights fade quickly during the night. | Too much light in room to enter Night Mode. Adjust Night Mode ambient setting to Medium or High. |
There is a 1-2 second delay prior to the light turning on. | Low-end trim is not set or set too low for the lamp to turn on. Increase low-end trim by seeing Step 9 of this document. |
