Handy Universal Slowdown Device Installation

Damper Position Detection

Step 1: Verify the position of the cart on the door leaf. Measure the distance between the panel suspension screw and the front edge of the panel itself. This measurement is typically 133mm.

[Diagram Description: A visual showing a panel edge with a measurement line indicating 133mm from a screw point (panel suspension screw) to the front edge of the panel.]

Step 2: If the measured distance is 133mm, place the base of the damper 26mm from the jamb (battening upright). For the Easy frame model, position the damper 15mm from the jamb.

If the measured distance differs from 133mm, adjust the reference distance of 26mm by adding or subtracting the difference between your measurement and 133mm to find the new correct measurement.

Positioning Template

Step 1: Place the template so that the short side of the "L" profile is correctly oriented towards the side opposite the jamb, as shown in the reference figure.

[Diagram Description: An "L" shaped template is shown. It highlights "Leverage points" and the "Front part". The "Batting upright" (jamb) is indicated for reference.]

Step 2: Insert the template into the guide, ensuring the small tabs fit correctly into their designated slots. Apply light pressure at the points indicated in the figure to facilitate insertion. Correct positioning of the template is essential for stability and precision during subsequent damper installation.

Damper Alignment Without Positioning Template

Step 1: If the positioning template cannot be used, the damper can be aligned manually inside the guide. To ensure correct system function, precisely align the two components highlighted in red in the accompanying section.

[Diagram Description: A close-up view illustrates the alignment point, marked with 'J', between the damper mechanism and the guide rail.]

Securing the Damper onto the Guide and Initial Start-Up

Step 1: Install the damper, ensuring it rests correctly on the centering template, and position it at the level indicated in the "Damper Position Detection" step.

Step 2: After placing the damper at the required position, secure it using 3.5x9.5 screws in the designated holes. Remove the template by reversing the insertion process or, if not possible, break the template to facilitate its removal.

[Diagram Description: The damper is shown being installed onto the guide rail, with screws being inserted into designated holes.]

Step 3: Once the damper is correctly installed, activate it by sliding the hook to its maximum stroke. This charges the mechanism and prepares it for all subsequent closures.

[Diagram Description: An illustration shows the damper's hook being manually slid to its maximum travel, indicating the activation step.]
