Miele PFD 104 SCVi Dishwasher Installation Plan
This document provides a comprehensive installation plan for the Miele PFD 104 SCVi dishwasher. It includes essential information regarding installation requirements, dimensions, connections, technical data, and operating conditions to ensure a safe and proper setup.
Installation Notes
For safe installation and commissioning, please refer to this installation plan, the service documentation, the installation sheet, and the operating instructions. This plan details the appliance's dimensions, technical data, and site requirements.
Installation Requirements:
- The dishwasher must be installed and commissioned by Miele Customer Service, an authorized Miele dealer, or a qualified specialist.
- Installation must comply with valid regulations, standards, and health and safety codes.
Environmental Requirements:
- Ensure furniture and fittings in the room are suitable for the environment, as condensate may build up around the dishwasher.
- A vapour barrier film is supplied to protect the worktop from steam damage. Attach this film above the door, underneath the worktop.
Electrical Connection:
- All electrical work must be performed by Miele Customer Service, an authorized Miele dealer, or a qualified electrician.
- The dishwasher should be connected via a suitably rated plug and socket.
- If hard-wired, a power switch with a contact gap of at least 3 mm must be installed on site, disconnecting the dishwasher at all poles. This must be incorporated into the fixed wiring according to AS/NZS 3000.
- The socket and power switch must remain accessible after installation for safety testing.
- The connection cable must be protected from thermal damage.
- For enhanced safety, a residual current device (RCD) with a 30 mA trip current is recommended.
- An equipotential bonding screw connection point is located at the back of the dishwasher. Equipotential bonding should be performed if possible on site.
Water Connection:
- Connect the dishwasher only to fully vented pipework. Increased water pressure can damage components.
- Incoming water quality must meet the drinking water specification of the operating country.
- Connect to the water supply in accordance with local and national requirements (e.g., Plumbing Code of Australia). Connection to cold or hot water is permissible; hot water may reduce program running times.
- A dynamic water pressure of at least 200 kPa is required for short program running times.
- Installation must adhere to AS/NZS 3500.1 and AS/NZS 3500.2. A separate backflow prevention device (dual check valve) is supplied.
Installation Requirements (Water Inlet):
- Install the supplied dual check valve between the tap and the water inlet hose.
- Screw the dual check valve onto the tap, then screw the water inlet hose with the water protection system onto the dual check valve thread.
- Gradually turn on the tap to test for leaks. If leaks occur, ensure the connection is secure and straight.
- If a tap is unavailable, a qualified installer must connect to the mains water supply.
- The tap should remain accessible for shutting off the water supply when the appliance is not in use.
Drain:
- Connect the dishwasher drain hose to a separate on-site drainage system intended solely for the dishwasher. If a separate connection is unavailable, connect to a dual-chamber siphon.
- If connecting directly to the drainage system, use the supplied hose clip.
- The on-site connector for the drain hose can be adapted to various hose diameters. Shorten the connector if it extends more than 30 mm into the drain hose to prevent blockage.
- Lay the drain hose without kinks or tension.
- If the on-site drain connection is lower than the guide path for lower basket rollers, a siphoning effect may occur. In such cases, lay the drain hose with a bend so its highest point is at least level with the lower basket roller guide path.
External Dispensing:
- An external dispensing module for liquid cleaning agents can be connected to the back of the dishwasher. This is an optional accessory with its own installation instructions.
