Installation Notes
For safe installation and commissioning of the dishwasher, please read this installation plan, the service documentation, the installation sheet, and the operating instructions.
Installation Requirements
This installation plan details the appliance dimensions, technical data, and on-site requirements for dishwasher installation. Installation and commissioning must be performed by the Miele Customer Service Department, a Miele authorised dealer, or a suitably qualified specialist, adhering to valid regulations, standards, and health and safety codes.
Environmental Requirements
Condensate may form around the dishwasher; ensure surrounding furniture and fittings are suitable. A supplied vapour barrier film protects the worktop from steam damage when the door is opened; attach it above the door, underneath the worktop.
Electrical Connection
All electrical connection work must be performed by qualified personnel. The dishwasher connects via a suitable plug and socket. If hard-wired, a power switch with a contact gap of at least 3 mm, capable of disconnecting at all poles, must be installed on-site, integrated into the fixed wiring per AS/NZS 3000. The socket and switch must remain accessible for safety testing and maintenance. The connection cable must be protected from thermal damage.
For enhanced safety, a residual current device (RCD) with a 30 mA trip current is recommended. An equipotential bonding screw connection point is located at the back of the dishwasher; this should be carried out on-site if possible.
Water Connection
Connect the dishwasher only to fully vented pipework. Sudden increases in water pressure can damage components. Incoming water quality must meet drinking water specifications. Connection must comply with local and national requirements (e.g., Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA)). Connection to cold or hot water supplies is possible; hot water may reduce running times. A dynamic water pressure of at least 200 kPa is required for short programmes. Installation must comply with AS/NZS 3500.1 and AS/NZS 3500.2. A separate backflow prevention device (dual check valve) is supplied.
Water Inlet Installation Requirements
Install the supplied dual check valve between the tap and the water inlet hose. Screw the dual check valve onto the tap, then attach the water inlet hose with its protection system. Gradually turn on the tap to test for leaks. If leaks occur, ensure the connection is secure and straight. If a tap is unavailable, a qualified installer must connect to the mains water supply. The tap must remain accessible for shutting off the water supply.
Drain
Connect the dishwasher drain hose to a separate on-site drainage system or a dual-chamber siphon. If connecting directly, use the supplied hose clip. The on-site connector can be adapted to different hose diameters; ensure it does not extend more than 30 mm into the drain hose to prevent blockage. Lay the drain hose to avoid kinks and tension. If the drain connection is lower than the guide path for lower basket rollers, a bend in the hose is required to prevent siphoning, ensuring its highest point is level with the guide path.
External Dispensing
An optional external dispensing module for liquid cleaning agents can be connected to the back of the dishwasher. This module is supplied with separate installation instructions.
Appliance Dimensions and Installation Dimensions
Model: PFD 103 SCI XXL
Appliance Dimensions Diagram Description
Diagram shows two views of the dishwasher. The top view illustrates overall width (570 mm) and depth (600+4 mm), with a minimum height requirement of ≥ 845 mm. The side view details the main unit dimensions: width 598 mm, depth 570 mm, and adjustable height from 845 mm to 910 mm. It also shows a maximum plinth return of 115 mm, a minimum clearance of 130 mm below the unit, and a depth with the door open of 1205 mm. A close-up view highlights the plinth area.

Cold or hot water 6. External dispensing, connection for dispensing hose sealed with a blind stopper* (* The dispenser connector is supplied with the dispensing module)
On-site Connections Diagram Description
Diagram illustrates on-site plumbing and electrical connections. It shows required clearances: >400 mm vertical for waste, >500 mm vertical for water, >150 mm horizontal for waste, >100 mm horizontal for water, and 700 mm horizontal for electrical. Connection points are labelled corresponding to the rear connections (1: Electrical, 4: Waste water, 5: Cold or hot water). A close-up shows the water connection detail with a tap and the dual check valve.
External Dispensing Diagram Description
Diagram shows the setup for external dispensing. It includes the dishwasher, a dispensing module (DOS module), a suction lance, and a container for cleaning agents. Maximum delivery head is 1.5 m. The dispenser hose length from the DOS module to the suction lance is 1.8 m. The dispenser hose length from the back of the appliance to the DOS module is 2.8 m. The power cable length from the back of the appliance to the DOS module is 2.8 m. The container should be placed on the floor next to or in an adjacent cabinet, not on top of the machine. Maximum height for the dispensing setup is 1500 mm.
