Zehnder EVO 3 Ventilation Unit
This document provides a quick guide for the Zehnder EVO 3 ventilation unit. For detailed information and instructions, please refer to the full installation and user manuals.
About the Zehnder EVO 3
The Zehnder EVO 3 is a centralized mechanical ventilation unit featuring a high-efficiency recovery unit. It expels stale air while simultaneously supplying fresh air to rooms. It is suitable for installation in homes, offices, and similar locations.
Safety Instructions - General Notes
- The Zehnder EVO 3 must only be used if installed by a qualified engineer in accordance with current regulations and the full installation manual.
- Do not open or modify the ventilation unit. Physical or software changes will void the warranty and may lead to malfunctions or personal injury.
- Do not start the ventilation unit when it is open, as electrical voltage and fan movement can cause injury.
- Unless otherwise specified, keep the unit operating at all times to prevent damp buildup and mold formation.
- WARNING! Hazardous electric voltage. In the event of a natural disaster, disconnect the power supply.
Safety Instructions - Installation
- Always comply with general and local regulations for building construction, safety, and installation. Install a safety circuit breaker for power disconnection. Follow the installer manual instructions.
- The unit connects to a 230 V - 50 Hz mains power supply; a circuit breaker must be installed.
- Install the unit in a location with temperature and humidity within the ranges specified in the installation manual.
- Do not install in locations with saunas, swimming pools, excessive humidity, dust, or harmful/corrosive substances.
- Ensure sufficient space for the air distribution system and keep the unit fully accessible for maintenance.
Installation
Before starting installation, check available space. Connections to the distribution system can be rotated 90°. Refer to the installation manual for instructions.
Ceiling Mounting:
The unit can be ceiling-mounted in the default "factory version" or in a "mirror version" by placing a jumper over connectors 9 and 10. When ceiling-mounted, the unit must be level.
Wall Mounting:
For wall mounting, the unit must be installed vertically and leveled to ensure effective condensate drainage. The control board connector must face upwards.
Important Notes:
- Handle the Zehnder EVO unit with care. Two people are required for lifting. Do not lift by the fittings to avoid damage.
- Open the top of the cardboard packaging. Lift the unit and place it on a clean, soft surface. Use the cardboard box as a template for drilling installation holes.
- Modification from right-hand to left-hand "mirror version" is not possible for EVO 3 HRV PR and EVO 3 ERV PR models.
Condensate Drain Installation
Zehnder EVO 3 HRV and Zehnder EVO 3 HRV PR units must be connected to a condensate drain system with unobstructed flow, protected from frost.
Screw the 1/2" male threaded siphon (ordered separately) onto the unit's condensate drain fitting. Install the siphon for easy removal during maintenance. The drain connection can point horizontally or downwards. For horizontal installation, the drain system must not be level or slope towards the unit.
Note:
- EVO 3 HRV and EVO 3 HRV PR units: only one condensate drain is connected; the other must be plugged.
- EVO 3 ERV and EVO 3 ERV PR units: both condensate drains must be plugged. Plugs are supplied.
Control Accessories
The unit is supplied WITHOUT control accessories. Refer to the user or installation manual for available accessories. The following is an overview of the electrical connections:
