Introduction to Infrared Saunas
Infrared light is perceived as heat and penetrates the body directly, heating tissues and promoting perspiration. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air, infrared saunas heat the body through conversion, requiring lower temperatures (up to 120°F) for effective results, making the environment more tolerable.
Infrared rays are divided into three segments by wavelength (in microns): Near Infrared (0.76-1.5), Middle Infrared (1.5-5.6), and Far Infrared (5.6-1000). Far Infrared penetrates organic substances like the human body two to three inches, providing a uniform warming effect.
Are Infrared Rays Safe?
Infrared rays are a natural part of sunlight and are considered safe and beneficial. They are used by health professionals to treat muscle and joint problems and are utilized in hospital baby care units to keep newborns warm.
Electromagnetic Field (EMF)
An Electromagnetic Field (EMF) is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects. Maxxus sauna products are designed to have low EMF. Our Low EMF carbon heater panels range between 5mG-10mG, Ultra Low EMF panels range between 3mG-5mG, and Near Zero EMF (ZF) models range below 3mG at two inches from the panel. Scientific evidence suggests that low-power, low-frequency EMF associated with household currents does not pose a short- or long-term health hazard.
Disclaimer
The benefits of infrared rays are based on research and presented for reference only. This manual does not imply that infrared saunas cure or treat any disease. Consult a medical physician before use if you have any medical conditions, are taking prescription drugs, or have acute joint injuries. Individuals with surgical implants should also consult their physician.
How It Works & Health Benefits
Infrared saunas provide a deep heating effect in muscle tissues and internal organs through conversion. The body's natural cooling process of perspiration helps remove toxins, waste residue, heavy metals, and old skin cells, leading to cleaner, glowing skin with improved tone and texture.
Health Benefits Include:
- Pain relief from Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Increased blood circulation
- Cardiovascular conditioning
- Relaxes muscle spasms
- Clears skin, rashes, and acne
- Reduces stress & fatigue
- Reduces cellulite
- Enhances skin tone
- Removes toxins
Sauna Maintenance
Minimal maintenance is required. Clean the sauna with plain water and a damp, soft cloth. Do not use chemical-based cleaning agents, benzene, alcohol, or strong cleaning chemicals, as they can be absorbed into the wood and released during use.
Assembly Instructions
Note: Your sauna model was pre-assembled and tested. The rear wall panel may be intentionally warped as part of the design. Two adults are recommended for assembly.
Tools Required: Philips screwdriver, ladder.
General Assembly Notes:
- Assemble on a completely level surface.
- Avoid spraying water on interior/exterior walls. If the floor is damp, use a barrier.
- Do not store flammable objects or chemicals near the sauna.
- Do not plug other appliances into the sauna's power supply circuit.
Packing Information: 1-person and 2-person saunas are packed in two cartons. 3-person and 4-person saunas are packed in three cartons.
Assembly Steps:
- Install Floor Panel and Front Wall Panel: Place the floor panel, ensuring the front side (without raised trim moldings) faces correctly. Then, place the front wall panel against the floor panel.
- Install Left Side Wall Panel and Right Side Wall Panel: Align the left side wall panel with the front wall panel and secure using the provided buckles. Repeat for the right side wall panel. Ensure buckles are snug and the tops of the panels are flush.
- Install Rear Wall Panel: Align the rear wall panel with the side wall panels and secure with buckles. Ensure panels are flush.
- Install Floor Heater and Bench Heat Emitter Panel: Place the floor heater in front of the bench heat emitter panel location, ensuring the floor heater cord passes through the cut-out. Connect power cords securely. Screw the floor heater down. Install the bench heat emitter panel at an angle, feeding the floor heater cord through the cut-out. Slide the bench horizontally into place against the rear wall panel, ensuring the finished side faces upward, and secure with screws.
- Install Roof Panel and Door Handle: Route wall panel cords to the outside. Lift and lower the roof panel onto the wall panels, ensuring all cords pass through the designated holes. Connect cords on the rooftop. Remove protective tape from the temperature sensor on the ceiling. Optionally, install the roof dust cover. Screw the door handle to the glass door, with the unfinished side facing the interior.
- Install Accessories: If included, install any accessories like a small shelf using the provided screws on the interior.
Installation Completed.
Operating the Sauna
Note: Confirm all connections (power supply, heat emitters, temperature sensor) are secure. The power supply voltage and frequency must match the sauna's requirements (120VAC 15AMP or 120VAC 20AMP Dedicated Circuit). This is a residential/semi-commercial appliance. Operate for a maximum of 3 hours ON, followed by 1 hour OFF.
For maximum effect, wear minimal clothing. Infrared emitters heat the body directly, not the air. The temperature gauge is for safety. Drink water before, during, and after sessions to prevent dehydration. Avoid showering immediately after use.
Precautions:
- Ensure wall outlet meets required specifications.
- Set temperature and time to a comfortable level (recommended 118°F – 122°F). Average session: 20-30 minutes.
- Pre-heat the sauna room to the desired temperature before entering. Pre-heating may take longer in cooler ambient temperatures (below 72°F). Avoid use in temperatures below 60°F.
- Drink water to replenish body fluids.
- After 2 hours of continuous use, shut down for one hour.
- Do not touch heating elements to avoid burns.
Operation:
- Review the electrical label and plug the sauna into the proper wall outlet. Ensure no other appliances share the same breaker.
- Turn the sauna ON using the ON/OFF button.
- Unplug the sauna when not in use for extended periods.
- Setting Temperature: Use the temperature buttons (increase/decrease) to set the desired temperature. The "Heat" light indicates the setting is active.
- Setting Time: Use the timer buttons to set time from 5 to 60 minutes.
- Light Operation: Press the light button to turn interior/exterior lights ON/OFF. Red Light Therapy must be OFF to use Chromotherapy. To activate Chromotherapy, press and hold the interior light button for 2 seconds (display shows "2n"). Then use the designated buttons to control exterior light, interior light, and scroll through colors (including white options). Press the timer button to return to Timer mode.
- Red Light Therapy: Press the dedicated button to turn Red Light Therapy ON/OFF. It can operate independently of the sauna's power.
- Operate the ceiling vent as preferred (open or closed).
- After the session, turn off the control panel using the ON/OFF button. Unplug the sauna to protect against power surges.
- Fahrenheit/Centigrade Display: Switch between modes by pressing and holding the TEMPERATURE side buttons and the specific mode button simultaneously.
- Bluetooth Function: Pair your device via Bluetooth settings (look for "BT-AUDIO" or "BT-SAUNA"). Control volume and music from your device.
- MP3 Jack: Connect your device using an AUX wire to the MP3 Jack at the ceiling. Control volume and music from your device. Disconnect the AUX wire when not in use to prevent static interference. The system reverts to Bluetooth mode upon disconnection.
Approximate Heating Times:
- 20 minutes to reach 100°F (38°C) (from 70°F ambient).
- 25-30 minutes to reach 115-120°F (46-49°C).
- 35-40 minutes to reach 125-130°F (52-54°C).
- 45-60 minutes to reach 135°F (57°C).
Preheating is recommended. Entering the sauna before it reaches temperature will increase heating time.
Maintenance & Tips
