Why is EO ending the service of the EO Mini Pro 2 & EO Smart Home App?

EO is ending the service for the EO Mini Pro 2 and the EO Smart Home App due to the introduction of the UK Electric Vehicle (Smart Charge Points) Regulations in June 2022. These regulations mean the EO Mini Pro 2 no longer meets the necessary standards for sale or replacement in Great Britain. Consequently, EO can no longer service users with this model or its associated app in Great Britain.

Will the change be sudden or gradual?

Support for the EO Mini Pro 2 and the EO Smart Home App will end on November 30, 2025. This announcement is made in advance to allow users to prepare for these changes.

What is the UK EV (Smart Charge Points) Regulation?

The Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations were introduced in 2021 and became effective in June 2022 for Great Britain. They aim to regulate electric vehicle (EV) charge points sold for private (domestic or workplace) use to help manage increased electricity demand from the EV transition. These regulations ensure charge points have smart functionality for charging during off-peak times or when renewable electricity is abundant, and meet specific device-level requirements for access, security, and consumer information.

How do the UK Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations impact my EO Mini Pro 2 Charger?

The EO Mini Pro 2 does not comply with these regulations. As a result, EO can no longer service users with the EO Mini Pro 2 in Great Britain. EO is discontinuing the product globally to align with industry standards. From November 30, 2025, EO will no longer provide repair services, replacement parts, or software updates for EO Mini Pro 2 chargers. The EO Mini Pro 2 will continue to operate as a "plug-and-play" charger, meaning it will not connect to the EO Smart Home App. Users may be able to schedule charging sessions using their vehicle's own smart charging app.

What if I am an EO Mini Pro 2 user based outside Great Britain?

Users outside Great Britain are not required to comply with the UK regulations. However, EO is discontinuing the EO Mini Pro 2 and EO Smart Home App globally. This affects all users, and systems will default to "plug-and-play" mode from November 30, 2025.

Can I still use my EO Mini Pro 2 charger as a smart charger?

No. While the Mini Pro 2 charger will remain functional in "plug-and-play" mode, the EO Smart Home App and its smart charging capabilities will be disabled on November 30, 2025.

Can I get replacement parts or a replacement charger for my EO Mini Pro 2 moving forward?

No, EO will not provide replacement parts or chargers after November 30, 2025. However, EO will honor existing warranty terms for devices still under a valid warranty until that date. If your warranty extends beyond November 30, 2025, please contact the online support team by Tuesday, August 5, 2025, with proof of purchase, serial number, and installation evidence. For hardware support in the UK and Ireland on a paid basis after warranty expiry, contact Crystal at ev@crystalelectronics.co.uk or +44 (0)1933 226410. Customers outside the UK and Ireland will need to find independent support from a certified electrician.

Can I still get repairs or servicing for this model?

EO will cease service, repair, and replacement of installed units worldwide. For support outside the UK and Ireland, users must seek independent services from a certified electrician.

What other changes can I expect when the device becomes 'plug-and-play'?

• Device locking: Devices will be automatically unlocked from November 30, 2025, preventing permanent locking.
• Charging schedules: All charging schedules will be cleared and can no longer be managed via the EO Smart Home App. This includes solar and off-peak charging. Vehicle apps may offer scheduling capabilities.
• Load management: Existing load management settings will be retained. Installers will no longer be able to view or change dynamic load management settings; these will remain at their current configuration. For static load management, adjustments can be made manually using the dial inside the charger, but this should only be done by an EO-approved electrical installer.
• Checking load management: Users cannot check their device's setting manually. This information should have been provided by the installer at setup.
• Dynamic load management: If configured, dynamic load management will continue to work, monitoring the energy source, as long as the device remains operational.
• Vehicle compatibility: The device will remain compatible with current vehicles as a plug-and-play charger.
• Charging speeds: Charging speeds will remain the same.
• LED charging indicators: The LED indicators will continue to function after November 30, 2025, to show the charger's state of charge.

Can I transfer to an alternate smartphone app i.e. my vehicle app?

The EO Mini Pro 2 uses a proprietary system for its smart functionality via the EO Smart Home App, which will not be supported after November 30, 2025. If your vehicle has a smart charging app, you may be able to schedule charging sessions through that platform, with your vehicle's app communicating with your vehicle, and the EO Mini Pro 2 providing power without smart functionality.

How will I know when my app has stopped working?

After November 30, 2025, users logging into the EO Smart Home App will no longer see their EO Mini Pro 2 device listed.
