System Compatibility
The Honeywell Home DT4R thermostat is designed for use with various heating and cooling systems, including:
- On/off boilers (230V)
- Combi boilers
- Heat pumps
- 2-Port Zone Valves
Installation Procedure
Step 1: Install the Relay Box
Mount the relay box securely. Connect the appropriate wiring from your heating system to the relay box terminals. Ensure correct connections are made to power (L, N) and system control terminals (e.g., T1, T2 for boilers, or specific terminals for heat pumps and zone valves). Recommended wire gauge is between 0.25mm² and 1.5mm². Keep wiring runs tidy and within approximately 30cm of the box where feasible.
Step 2: Install the Thermostat
Attach the thermostat's base plate to the wall at the recommended height of 1.2 to 1.5 meters. Connect the thermostat wiring (typically to terminals A, B, C) to the base plate. Finally, attach the thermostat unit to the installed base.
Configuration and Operation
Accessing the Installer Menu
To access advanced settings, press and hold the primary button for 5 seconds. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to navigate through the available parameters and options. Press the primary button once to select or confirm a setting.
Wireless Communication
The DT4R thermostat communicates wirelessly with the relay box. The units included in this package are pre-bound for immediate use. For information on re-binding or troubleshooting wireless connections, please visit the provided URL.
Key Configuration Parameters
The following parameters can be adjusted via the installer menu:
- Heat/Cool Mode (HC): Select the operating mode: Heat only, Cool only, or automatic Heat/Cool switching.
- Minimum On Time (Ot): Sets the minimum operational duration for the connected system (e.g., boiler, heat pump) to prevent short cycling.
- Minimum Off Time (OFt): Sets the minimum period the system must remain off between cycles.
- Cycle Rate (Cr): Determines how frequently the system cycles on and off to maintain the set temperature.
- Temperature Offset (tO): Allows for calibration of the thermostat's temperature reading against a known accurate thermometer.
- Upper Limit (Heat) (UL): Defines the maximum temperature the thermostat will allow for heating.
- Lower Limit (Heat) (LL): Defines the minimum temperature the thermostat will allow for heating.
- Upper Limit (Cool) (ULc): Defines the maximum temperature the thermostat will allow for cooling.
- Lower Limit (Cool) (LLc): Defines the minimum temperature the thermostat will allow for cooling.
- Eco Offset (EOs): Adjusts the temperature setting for energy-saving (Eco) mode.
- Failsafe Mode (LC): Configures the system's behavior in case of a communication failure or internal fault. Options typically include disabling the output or maintaining a default state.
- Factory Reset (FS): Resets all user and installer settings back to the original factory defaults.
For detailed instructions on setting each parameter, refer to the on-screen menus.
