Controls Quick Reference
Buttons:
Up/Down Buttons: Press ▲ or ▼ to adjust the set temperature.
Switches:
System Switch:
- Cool: Controls the cooling system.
- Off: Turns off all connected systems.
- Heat: Controls the heating system.
- Em Heat (Emergency Heat): Controls the emergency and auxiliary heat source. This setting also engages a compressor lockout feature on applicable models.
Fan Switch:
- On: The fan runs continuously.
- Auto: The fan operates only when the heating or cooling system is active.
Display Quick Reference
Display Indicators:
- Set Point Indicator: Appears when the desired temperature (set point) is being displayed.
- System Status:
- "Cool On": Indicates the cooling system is currently running.
- "Heat On": Indicates the heating system is currently running.
- "Aux On": Indicates the auxiliary heat is running (typically for heat pump systems).
- Low Battery Alert: The display will show "Lo Batt" approximately 60 days before the batteries are fully depleted. It is recommended to replace batteries annually or after an absence of more than one month.
Ambient Temperature:
The display typically shows the current ambient room temperature. To view the set temperature, press the Up ▲ or Down ▼ button once; the set temperature will be displayed for 5 seconds.
Temperature Adjustment
Use the Up ▲ or Down ▼ buttons to set your desired temperature. Ensure the thermostat's System switch is configured for the system you wish to control (Heat or Cool).
Built-in Compressor Protection
This feature is designed to prevent damage to your air conditioner or heat pump compressor by preventing rapid cycling. The compressor will automatically delay restarting for a few minutes after being turned off. During this delay period, the display will show "Cool On" flashing. Once the safety delay time has elapsed, the flashing will stop, and the compressor will engage.
⚠️ Caution: Equipment Damage Hazard. Do not operate the cooling system when the outside temperature is below 50°F (10°C).
Battery Replacement
To replace the batteries, gently pull the thermostat unit away from its wall plate. Turn the thermostat over and insert two new AAA alkaline batteries. Then, reattach the thermostat to the wall plate.
Your thermostat settings are saved in non-volatile memory, ensuring they are preserved even when the batteries are removed.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your thermostat, try the following suggestions:
Display is blank:
- Check the circuit breaker and reset it if necessary.
- Verify that the power switch for the heating and cooling system is in the 'on' position.
- Ensure the furnace door is securely closed.
- Confirm that fresh AAA alkaline batteries are correctly installed.
Heating or cooling system does not respond:
- Set the System switch to 'Heat'. Ensure the temperature is set higher than the current inside temperature.
- Set the System switch to 'Cool'. Ensure the temperature is set lower than the current inside temperature.
- Allow up to 5 minutes for the system to respond.
"Heat On" or "Cool On" is flashing:
This indicates the compressor protection feature is active. Wait 5 minutes for the system to restart safely without damaging the compressor.
"Heat On" is not displayed:
Set the System switch to 'Heat' and ensure the temperature is set above the current room temperature.
"Cool On" is not displayed:
Set the System switch to 'Cool' and ensure the temperature is set below the current room temperature.
