Manual Usage
This manual for bikes is intended to help you achieve the best cycling experience and maintain safety while riding. In this manual, each part of the bike is clearly illustrated, guiding you through the detailed steps to assemble your kid's bike. However, this manual does not replace the general user manual for the bicycle.
WARNINGS
WARNING 1
Please read and understand the warnings and instructions contained in this manual before using the new bicycle. Not all bicycles are suitable for every activity. Consult a Giant authorized dealer to clarify the intended use of the bicycle.
WARNING 2
The assembly of the Giant bike must be performed following the suggested instructions, and bolts must be tightened to the recommended torque specification, if indicated. Ensure you follow the instructions and bolt torque specifications at each assembly stage. Giant assumes no responsibility for any incorrect product installation.
WARNING 3
Bicycle assembly is a complex operation that requires training and experience. If you have doubts about your abilities and tools, consult a Giant authorized dealer for assistance and installation. Failure to observe this warning may cause bicycle malfunctions, resulting in serious injury or death.
WARNING 4
Before using the bicycle, carefully read the precautions and warnings, and always comply with the regulations for young people's use of bicycles.
Tool List
- Torque wrench
- 15mm open/box wrench
- 4mm hex wrench
- 5mm hex wrench
- Philips head screwdriver
Assembly Steps
Step A: Headset Installation
Step 1: Insert the fork into the head tube.
Step 2: Place the headset cap onto the fork.
Step B: Handlebar Stem Attachment
Step 1: Align the handlebar stem with the fork steerer tube.
Step 2: Insert the bolts (x4) through the stem and into the steerer tube.
Step 3: Tighten the bolts using a 4mm hex wrench.
Step C: Handlebar Alignment
Step 1: Position the handlebar in the stem.
Step 2: Ensure the handlebar is centered and straight.
Step 3: Check the alignment marks on the stem and handlebar.
Note: Do not overtighten bolts. Refer to the manual for specific torque values.
Step D: Securing the Handlebar
Step 1: Insert bolts through the stem faceplate and into the handlebar.
Step 2: Tighten the bolts evenly using a 4mm hex wrench.
Step E: Final Handlebar Tightening
Step 1: Using a 4mm hex wrench, tighten the bolts in a star pattern.
Step 2: Rotate each bolt 180 degrees at a time, alternating between bolts.
Step 3: Ensure all bolts are tightened to the specified torque (5.2 Nm).
Note: Listen for a "click" sound from the torque wrench to confirm correct torque.
Step F: Stem Clamp Check
Ensure the stem clamp is properly secured around the fork steerer tube.
Step G: Torque Wrench Application
Step 1-4: Following the indicated sequence, tighten the stem bolts using a torque wrench to 5.2 Nm.
Note: Make sure all bolts are tightened to the correct torque by listening for clicking sounds from the torque wrench.
Step H: Steering System Adjustment
Step 1: Rotate the fork 360 degrees to ensure smooth steering.
Step 2: Tighten the headset top cap bolt using a 5mm hex wrench.
Step 3: Tighten the stem bolts using a 4mm hex wrench, rotating each 180 degrees x 3.
Step J: Final Check of Handlebar Alignment
Ensure the handlebar is straight and centered with the front wheel.
Step K: Repeat Torque Wrench Application
Repeat the torque wrench application process for the stem bolts as described in Step G.
Step L: Seat Post Insertion
Step 1: Insert the seat post into the seat tube.
Step 2: Adjust the seat height as needed.
Step M: Seat Clamp Tightening
Step 1: Tighten the seat clamp bolt using a 5mm hex wrench.
Step 2: Ensure the seat post is securely fastened.
Step N: Seat Height Adjustment and Safety Check
Seat Height: Adjust the seat height so that the child can comfortably place their feet flat on the ground while seated. The recommended inseam is approximately 30cm (1 foot).
Safety Check: Ensure the child's feet can reach the ground for stability.
Step O: Saddle Alignment
Ensure the saddle is level and properly aligned.
Step P: Final Bike Check
Perform a final check of all components to ensure they are securely fastened.
Step Q: Rear Wheel Check
Step 1: Ensure the rear wheel is properly secured.
Step 2: Check the wheel nuts using a 15mm box wrench.
Step R: Front Wheel Check
Step 1: Ensure the front wheel is properly secured.
Step 2: Check the wheel nuts using a 4mm hex wrench.
Step S: Pedal Check
Ensure the pedals are securely attached and spin freely.
Step T: Tire Inflation
Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure: 35 P.S.I (240KPa) (2.4BAR).
Step U: Stability Test (Vertical)
Test: Gently push the bike down from a height of 30cm (1 foot).
Listen: Listen for clunking or rattling noises that may indicate loose parts.
Step V: Stability Test (Lateral)
Test: Gently push the bike sideways.
Listen: Listen for clunking or rattling noises that may indicate loose parts.
