Intended Use of the Manual

This bicycle manual helps you have the best cycling experience and ensures your safety while cycling. This manual clearly illustrates each part of the bicycle and guides you step-by-step through the assembly of your youth bicycle. However, this manual does not replace the general user manual for bicycles.

Ensure you carefully read and understand the warnings and instructions in this manual before riding the new bicycle. Not every bicycle is suitable for every activity. Ask an authorized Giant dealer for clarification on the intended use of your bicycle.

When assembling the Giant bicycle, follow the recommended instructions and always tighten the bolts with the recommended torque, if indicated. Ensure you follow the instructions and bolt torque specifications for each assembly step. Giant accepts no liability for incorrectly installed products.

Assembly Steps

Step A: Install Handlebar Stem

1. Insert the handlebar stem into the head tube.

2. Align the stem with the front wheel.

Step B: Attach Handlebars

1. Place the handlebars onto the stem.

2. Secure the handlebars using the 4mm hex wrench (x4 bolts).

Step C: Align Handlebars

1. Ensure the handlebars are centered and straight relative to the front wheel. Check the alignment marks.

2. Do not overtighten the bolts at this stage.

3. Refer to the product information sticker for specific torque values.

Step D: Secure Handlebars

1. Insert bolts through the handlebar clamp and into the stem.

2. Tighten the bolts evenly using the 4mm hex wrench.

Step E: Final Handlebar Tightening

1. Using the 4mm hex wrench, tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern.

2. Tighten each bolt by 180 degrees sequentially.

3. Continue tightening in 180-degree increments until all bolts are secure.

4. Ensure the handlebars are firmly attached and do not move.

Step F: Check Handlebar Alignment

1. Visually inspect the handlebar alignment. Ensure it is perpendicular to the front wheel.

2. Avoid excessive force that could damage the components.

Step G: Torque Handlebar Bolts

1. Using the torque wrench, tighten the handlebar bolts to the specified torque of 5.2 Nm.

2. Listen for the clicking sound of the torque wrench to confirm correct torque application.

3. Repeat for all bolts, ensuring even tightening.

Step H: Final Steering Check

1. Rotate the handlebars 360 degrees to ensure smooth movement.

2. Check for any stiffness or binding in the steering.

3. Using the 5mm hex wrench, tighten the steering column bolts.

4. Using the 4mm hex wrench, tighten the handlebar clamp bolts by 180 degrees each.

Step J: Test Ride Preparation

1. Ensure all components are securely fastened.

2. Perform a final visual check of the bicycle's alignment.

Step K: Final Torque Check

1. Use the torque wrench to ensure all critical bolts are tightened to 5.2 Nm.

2. Confirm correct torque by listening for the clicking sound.

Step L: Seat Adjustment

1. Loosen the seat post clamp bolt.

2. Adjust the seat height to the appropriate level for the child.

Step M: Secure Seat Post

1. Using the 5mm hex wrench, tighten the seat post clamp bolt.

2. Tighten the bolt by 180 degrees three times to ensure it is secure.

Step N: Final Adjustments and Safety Checks

1. Adjust the seat height so the child can comfortably place their feet flat on the ground while seated. Ensure the child's knees are slightly bent when the pedal is at its lowest point.

2. Check that the seat is level.

3. Ensure the child wears a helmet and appropriate safety gear.

Step O: Final Inspection

1. Visually inspect the entire bicycle for any loose parts or improper assembly.

2. Ensure the seat is securely fastened and does not tilt.

3. Use the torque wrench to check the seat post bolt, ensuring it is tightened to a maximum of 8 Nm.

Step P: Prepare for First Ride

Gently tilt the bicycle to check for any rattling or loose parts.

Step Q: Check Rear Wheel Attachment

1. Ensure the rear wheel is properly seated in the dropouts.

2. Use the 15mm box wrench to tighten the axle nuts.

Step R: Check Front Wheel Attachment

1. Ensure the front wheel is properly seated in the fork dropouts.

2. Use the 4mm hex wrench to tighten the axle nuts.

Step S: Check Pedals

1. Ensure the pedals are securely attached to the crank arms.

2. Tighten the pedals using the appropriate tool (usually a pedal wrench or large hex key).

Step T: Inflate Tires

1. Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure: 35 P.S.I (240 KPa) (2.4 BAR).

2. Use a tire pump to achieve the correct pressure.

Maintenance and Safety

U: Seat Height Adjustment Check

Ensure the seat height allows the child to place their feet flat on the ground with a slight bend in their knees when the pedal is at its lowest point. Listen for any clunking or rattling noises that may indicate loose parts.

Ensure the handlebars turn smoothly without any resistance. Listen for any clunking or rattling noises that may indicate loose parts.
