HIOKI RM3544 Resistance Meter Upgrade Procedures
Before starting the version upgrade, read these instructions carefully.
Operating Precautions
- Only one instrument can be connected to the computer at a time. Do not connect multiple resistance testers to the computer at the same time.
- During the update, do not unplug the cable, or exit the updater software.
Introduction
The upgrade is performed using a computer via the USB interface. The procedure involves the following steps:
- General preparations
- Connecting the instrument
- Executing the upgrade procedure
- Checking the version
1. General Preparations
Before starting the upgrade process, ensure the following required items are available:
- Unit to be upgraded: RM3544
- USB Cable: A-miniB type. (Note: This type of USB cable is not included in the accessories of Model RM3544 but is included in those of Model RM3548 and others.)
- A computer equipped with a USB interface (OS: Windows 10, 32bit/64bit)
- Upgrade files set
2. Connecting the Instrument
In a power-off state, turn on the power while pressing the [COMP] and [AUTO] keys. Connect the maintenance terminal (MAINTENANCE ONLY) of the instrument and the computer's USB terminal using the USB cable. Note that the maintenance terminal is different from normal USB terminals.
Only one instrument can be connected to the computer at a time. Do not connect multiple resistance testers to the computer simultaneously. Disconnect all USB-connected Hioki products.
3. Executing the Upgrade Procedure
- Execute the "RM3544Vup.bat" file.
- While the program is being transferred, the progress is indicated by a percentage. When the transfer is completed, the indication will be 100% and the process terminates. During the update, do not unplug the cable, remove the batteries, or exit the updater software.
- Press the 'Enter' key on the computer's keyboard to terminate the version upgrade program.
Upgrade Process Output Example:
The upgrade process output typically shows information such as:
- File size and checksums for boot software and main software.
- Signature verification (e.g., HIOKI, OK).
- Model information (e.g., Boot3548, RM3548).
- Version information (e.g., V1.03).
- Connection status (e.g., Connect 00M54, Reconnected...).
- Upgrade progress (e.g., Now upgrading...100 %).
- Status message (e.g., Successful).
- Instruction to exit (e.g., Exit by pressing the return key.).
4. Checking the Version
The version number is displayed on the power-on screen. Verify that it is correct.
This completes the upgrade procedure.
The five files used during the upgrade are no longer needed and can be deleted from the computer. Repeated calibration or inspection due to the upgrade is not required.
If the Update Fails
If the update fails, review the "Operating Precautions" section. Repeat the process starting from "2. Connecting the Instrument."
If the instrument display shows "Err:090," connect it to the computer with the USB cable as is. The updater software will display "RM3544? [Y/N]." Enter "Y."
If the instrument does not turn on, it may need to be repaired.
