Installation Guidelines
Mounting Height
The recommended mounting height (Dimension 'A') from the cooking surface to the hood bottom is between 24" (610mm) and 35" (890mm) for optimal performance. Avoid mounting higher than 35" (890mm) as it may be difficult to reach and reduce efficiency. Mounting lower than recommended can create a fire hazard and void the warranty. Always consult cooking appliance manufacturer recommendations and local building/fire codes.
General Installation Steps
Installation requires qualified personnel. Key steps include:
- Hood Fastening: Secure the hood body to the mounting surface.
- Check Valve Installation: Ensure the check valve is correctly installed.
- Suction Pipe Assembly: Connect the exhaust pipe to the hood and the ventilation system.
- Flue Assembly: Assemble the chimney structure, ensuring it is properly secured.
- Filter Assembly: Install metal anti-grease filters and optional active carbon filters as per instructions.
Technical Safety
Before installation, check all parts for integrity and function. Do not install if aesthetic defects are found. Ensure the wall surface can support the hood's weight.
Electrical Connection
Installation must comply with the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) and local codes. Ensure power is OFF before proceeding. The electrical system must be properly grounded and meet local safety regulations. Use only the provided power supply cord and plug. If the cord is too short, have a qualified electrician install a suitable outlet. Do not use extension cords.
Fumes Discharge
External Exhaust (Suction): Fumes and vapors are discharged outdoors via an exhaust pipe. The pipe must have a diameter not less than the hood fitting, a slight downward slope in horizontal sections, minimal bends, and appropriate length to avoid vibrations. Insulate pipes passing through cold areas. A check valve is included for motors 500 CFM or higher to prevent backflow.
Internal Recirculation (Filtering): Air is purified by charcoal filters and recirculated into the room. Ensure charcoal filters are installed. The check valve must NOT be assembled in this configuration.
Operation
When to Turn On the Hood
Turn on the hood at least one minute before cooking to capture fumes. Leave it running after cooking until all vapors and odors are extracted. The Timer function allows automatic shut-off after 15 minutes.
Speed Selection
- 1st Speed: Low energy consumption for general air circulation.
- 2nd Speed: Normal cooking conditions.
- 3rd Speed: For strong odors and vapors.
- 4th Speed: Rapid removal of odors and vapors (may be limited in duration by the SRS system).
Control Panels
Mechanical Push Button Control Panel: Features buttons for Light (on/off), Motor OFF, and Speed 1, 2, 3.
Electronic Pushbutton Panel: Includes controls for Motor ON/OFF, speed adjustment (+/-), and Timer. LEDs indicate selected speed. The '+' LED flashing indicates Speed 4 is active (with SRS disabled).
SRS System Setting
The SRS (Speed Reduction System) limits the maximum air flow rate to comply with local building regulations. Specific procedures involving button presses are detailed in the manual for setting maximum speed levels (e.g., setting maximum speed 3 or 2).
Maintenance and Cleaning
General Maintenance
Always disconnect power before cleaning or maintenance. Do not use abrasive, acidic, or corrosive detergents or rough cloths. Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.
Cleaning External Surfaces
Clean external surfaces every 15 days using a damp cloth with mild detergent or denatured alcohol. For brushed stainless steel, use "Magic Steel" wipes. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid excessive moisture near controls and lighting.
Cleaning Internal Surfaces
Do not use liquids or solvents on electrical parts or motor components. Clean internal metal parts as per external surface instructions.
Metal Anti-Grease Filters
Wash metal filters monthly by soaking in hot, soapy water for one hour. Rinse and dry completely. Dishwasher cleaning is possible but may cause darkening; use low-temperature cycles (max 131°F / 55°C).
Active Carbon Filters
These filters retain odors. Replace them every 3-4 months depending on usage. Refer to assembly instructions for replacement.
Lighting
The hood is equipped with high-efficiency, low-consumption LED spotlights. If a spotlight needs replacement, follow the illustrated steps.
Safety Warnings
General Safety
- WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury: use the unit only as intended; switch off power before servicing; do not use with hazardous materials or vapors.
- CAUTION: For general ventilation use only.
- WARNING FOR INSTALLERS: Check parts for integrity before installation. Do not install if aesthetic defects are present. Use personal protective equipment. Ensure wall type is suitable for installation kit; if not, use appropriate fasteners. Do not install outdoors or expose to elements.
- ELECTRICAL SAFETY: Ensure compliance with electrical codes. Power must be off during installation. System must be grounded and meet local/European standards.
- GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS: Appliance must be grounded to reduce shock risk. Plug into a properly installed and grounded outlet. Improper grounding can cause shock; consult a qualified electrician if unsure. Do not use extension cords.
- FIRE SAFETY: Never leave cooking unattended. Smother flames with a lid, not water. Use appropriate fire extinguishers if trained.
- USE AND CLEANING: Clean fans frequently. Never use the hood without metal anti-grease filters. Accessible parts may be hot. Do not clean hot parts. Risk of fire if cleaning instructions are not followed. Disconnect power for long periods of non-use.
- Ensure adequate ventilation if using gas appliances simultaneously.
