The measurement range is affected by factors such as the target material, the angle of the target surface, and weather visibility. Generally, if the target surface is smooth, bright, and has a large area, the measurement beam is perpendicular to the target surface, and the weather is clear without fog, the measurement range will be farther.

Ranging Modes

Short press the Mode button [Mode Button] to switch between LOS, HD, and ARCH modes.

LOS Ranging Mode

Short press the Mode button [Mode Button] to switch to LOS mode, aim at a point (within the measurement range), and then short press the Meas button [Measurement Button]. LOS Ranging Mode measures the distance from the IONJET 2 to the target point, displayed in the first row on the measurement interface.

Visual Description: A scene depicts a hunter aiming at a deer in a forest. A red line indicates the Line of Sight (LOS) distance, labeled as '135.3Y'. The display shows 'FIRST LAST' and distance readings.

(The maximum range for LOS Ranging Mode is 2000 yards.)

HD Ranging Mode

Short press the Mode button [Mode Button] to switch to HD mode [HD Icon], aim at a point (within the measurement range), and then short press the Meas button [Measurement Button]. HD Ranging Mode calculates the horizontal distance from the IONJET 2 to the target point based on the measured distance and the elevation angle. The first row displays the distance to the target, the second row shows the angle between the IONJET 2 and the target, and the third row indicates the horizontal distance.

Visual Description: A scene shows a hunter aiming at a deer in a forest with trees in the background. The display shows 'FIRST LAST'. The diagram indicates a Line of Sight distance of '136Y' and a horizontal distance of '120Y', along with an angle of '-28°'.

(The maximum range for HD Ranging Mode is 2000 yards, with an angle range of ±90°.)

ARCH Ranging Mode

ARCH Ranging Mode is used to compensate for extreme vertical angles in archery. It requires knowledge of your arrow's speed, with the initial default speed set at 220 fps.

*You can adjust the FPS setting in the menu, ranging from 200 to 350 fps. To set the FPS: In ARCH function mode, long press the Mode button [Mode Button] to enter the settings menu. The first menu is for setting the FPS. Short press the Meas button [Measurement Button] to adjust the FPS, increasing by 10 fps each time you press, within the range of 200 to 350 fps.

Visual Description: The display shows 'SPEED' and '220'.

Short press the Mode button [Mode Button] to switch to ARCH mode [ARCH Icon], aim at a point (within the measurement range), and then short press the Meas button [Measurement Button]. The IONJET 2 will provide a solution as an equivalent horizontal shooting distance.

The first row displays the distance from the IONJET 2 to the target, the second row shows the angle between the IONJET 2 and the target, and the third row shows the bow's compensation value.

Due to the physical limitations of arrow range, beyond 200 yards, the device will revert to the LOS distance to the target. The angle range is ±90°.

Visual Description: A scene depicts a hunter in a tree stand aiming at a deer. The display shows 'FIRST LAST'. The diagram indicates a distance of '69.3Y' to the deer and a horizontal distance of '80Y' to the trees, with an angle of '-30°'.

Target Modes

The IONJET 2 has 4 target modes, with the default mode being the Best Mode. To switch target modes, long press the Mode button [Mode Button] to enter the target mode settings, and short press the Meas button [Measurement Button] to select the mode you want.

Target Mode Details

1. Best Mode:

This mode is recommended when there are no obvious obstructions in front of the target and no significant interference from the background. It offers a measure range up to 2,000 yards for most targets, which under normal ranging conditions have medium reflectivity.

Short press Meas: Measures once and displays data related to the most reliable target.

Long press Meas: Continuously measures and updates the display with each measurement result.

Visual Description: The display shows 'FIRST LAST' and 'BEST' along with distance readings.

2. Auto Mode:

This mode can measure the distances to both the nearest and the farthest targets simultaneously.

Short press Meas: Measures once and checks if multiple targets exist. If they exist, the measurement results will blink alternately at 1-second intervals, displaying the data related to the nearest and farthest targets. The corresponding target mode icons for the nearest and farthest targets will also blink. If there are no multiple targets, only the measurement data for the nearest target will be displayed.

Long press Meas: Continuously detects if multiple targets exist. If they do, after releasing the measurement button, the results will blink alternately at 1-second intervals, displaying the data related to the nearest and farthest targets. The corresponding target mode icons for the nearest and farthest targets will also blink. If there are no multiple targets, only the measurement result for the nearest target will be displayed.

Visual Description: Two diagrams show the display. The left shows 'FIRST LAST' with a single measurement. The right shows 'FIRST LAST' with two blinking measurements, indicating nearest and farthest targets.

3. First Mode:

This mode allows for easily obtaining distances to small targets and game animals without accidentally getting the distance to background targets, as the background targets have a stronger signal. When locking onto multiple targets, only the distance to the nearest target will be displayed. In this mode, align the reticle with the target you want to measure (e.g., a deer). Then, press and hold the Meas button [Measurement Button] and gradually move the reticle through the target (deer). If the laser beam locks onto multiple targets (deer and background trees), the screen will display the distance to the nearest target (deer) to you.

Short press Meas: Measures once and outputs the measurement data related to the nearest target.

Long press Meas: Continuously measures and updates the distance to the nearest target.

Visual Description: Three images show a forest scene with a deer. The first shows an initial range captured on trees. The second shows a range captured on a closer elk (995.0). The third shows scanning to further trees, with the range remaining locked on the closer elk.

4. Last Mode:

This mode is designed to ignore objects like shrubs and branches, displaying only the distance to the target. When multiple targets are locked, only the distance to the farthest target will be displayed. In this mode, align the reticle with the target you want to measure. Then, press and hold the Meas button [Measurement Button] and gradually move the reticle across the target. If the laser beam identifies multiple objects (branches up close and a deer in the background), the distance to the farther object (deer) will be displayed.

Short press Meas: Measures once and outputs the measurement data related to the farthest target.

Long press Meas: Continuously measures and updates the distance to the farthest target.

Visual Description: Three images show a forest scene with a deer. The first shows an initial range captured on trees. The second shows a range captured on a farther elk (468.0). The third shows scanning to closer trees, with the range remaining locked on the farther elk.

Unit Switching

The IONJET 2 laser rangefinder offers two unit display options (Yards/Meters), with the default unit being Yards. To select a different unit display, long press the Mode button [Mode Button] to enter the settings menu, press the Mode button [Mode Button] again to go to unit switch settings and press the Meas button [Measurement Button] to select the unit you want.

Visual Description: Two diagrams show the rangefinder display. The top shows 'Yards' with 'Y' indicating the unit. The bottom shows 'Meters' with 'M' indicating the unit.
