4. Operation
Priming the Pump
CAUTION: THE PUMP MUST BE FILLED WITH WATER AFTER EACH NEW CONNECTION OR IF WATER LOSS OR AIR INTAKE OCCURS. EXTENDED OPERATION WITHOUT REFILLING WILL DAMAGE THE PUMP!
Priming is necessary to purge air from the hose. Do not operate the pump without priming.
- Ensure the pump is switched off at the mains power.
- Remove the priming plug from the top of the pump housing by turning the screw counter-clockwise.
- Fill the pump completely with water. Ensure the pump and inlet pipe/hose are full. Replace the priming plug.
- Fully open any shut-off mechanisms (e.g., spray nozzles, valves) in the pressure line to allow air to escape freely.
- Switch the device on at the mains plug. Press the "Restart" button.
Note: The pump may take several minutes to fully prime.
6. When water runs out evenly, close any shut-off mechanisms in the pressure line. The pump will now pressurize and be ready for use.
⚠️ WARNING! THIS PRODUCT IS INTENDED FOR PUMPING WATER IN A HOME DOMESTIC APPLICATION. DO NOT USE IT FOR CORROSIVE, ABRASIVE, EXPLOSIVE OR DANGEROUS LIQUIDS.
Starting
Note: When the pump is fully primed and air is flushed out, it is ready to operate.
⚠️ WARNING! THIS PUMP MUST BE USED WITH A RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICE WITH RATED RESIDUAL CURRENT OF 30MA OR LESS.
The pump and suction line must be connected and filled before starting.
- Plug in at the mains power.
- Press the "Restart" button.
- Fully open any shut-off mechanisms in the pressure line to allow air to escape.
- Check that water is coming out.
Note: If the pressure line is closed (e.g., a tap is shut off), the pump will build pressure and switch off. It will restart automatically when the line is opened.
If the motor does not start, or the pump does not build pressure, turn off the device and refer to the Troubleshooting section.
CAUTION: THE PUMP MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN DRY. SUFFICIENT WATER MUST BE ON HAND AT ALL TIMES.
⚠️ WARNING!: DANGER DUE TO ELECTRIC SHOCK! DO NOT OPERATE THE DEVICE IN WET SURROUNDINGS!
5. Operating the Pump
LED Display
'YELLOW Power on' LED solid: Power is supplied to the pump, but it is not currently running.
'YELLOW Power on' and 'GREEN Pump on' LEDs solid: Power is supplied, and the pump is running.
'YELLOW Power on', 'GREEN Pump on', and 'RED Failure' LEDs solid: Power is supplied, the pump motor is running, but flow is stalled. The pump will run for another 30 seconds to try and restore flow.
'YELLOW Power on' and 'RED Failure' LEDs solid: After 30 seconds of no flow, the pump motor turns off. This indicates a failure requiring correction (e.g., no water flow, air lock).
'YELLOW Power on' LED flashing: A downstream tap has been turned off, increasing pressure to the pump's maximum. The pump motor switches off and enters standby mode until the tap is opened.
Pressure Gauge
The pump features an inbuilt pressure gauge (0-6 bar) to help diagnose issues like leaks or lost pressure.
Cut-off pressure is 3.8 bar; cut-in pressure is approximately 1.5 bar.
Note: Cut-in/cut-out pressures are factory set and cannot be adjusted.
6. Installation
7. Recommended Setup
⚠️ WARNING! THE INPUT HOSE OR PIPE SHOULD BE LOW ENOUGH IN THE WATER TO ENSURE THAT IF THE WATER LEVEL FALLS, THE PUMP WILL NOT RUN DRY. ENSURE THIS IS CHECKED DURING OPERATION.
Positioning the hose or pipe:
Position the input hose or pipe to rise from the water source to the pump. Avoid positioning it higher than the pump to facilitate air bubble escape and priming.
The suction line should be as short as possible to maintain conveying capacity.
Note: A leaking hose or pipe will draw in air and prevent water draw.
Note: A non-return valve is recommended to prevent water running off when the pump is shut off.
Note: A suction in-line filter (minimum 3000 l/h flow rate, 150-250 micron mesh) is essential to protect the pump from sand and dirt. The Ozito PAPF-001 Pre-filter or equivalent is recommended.
⚠️ WARNING! TO ENSURE CORRECT PUMP OPERATION, A SUCTION IN-LINE FILTER MUST BE USED FOR A CLEAN WATER SUPPLY.
Diagrams illustrate recommended setups:
Connection with tank base above water pump
This setup shows a WATERTANK connected via SUCTION LINE, IN-LINE FILTER, GATE VALVE, UNION COUPLING, and NON-RETURN VALVE to the pump's SUCTION INLET, with the DISCHARGE OUTLET connected to a hose, all mounted on a FIRM BASE.
Connection with tank base below water pump
Similar to the above, but the WATERTANK is positioned lower than the pump, with the SUCTION LINE running upwards to the pump's SUCTION INLET, requiring careful consideration of pipe positioning.
Connection with tank base level with water pump
This setup shows the WATERTANK at the same level as the pump, with the SUCTION LINE running horizontally to the pump's SUCTION INLET.
